Just thought I'd break the quieteness of the hiatus because I've been reading around a lot today and I found this old article on the NYT that really struck a chord with me, for many reasons, but particularly because an awful lot of it reminded me of Shamy. It's pretty long, but I thought some of you guys might find it interesting.

OMG, I loved this article! I actually teared up, thinking about how close to Shamy it is!

Ditto.  This especially hits home, “You’re not a robot,” he insisted, intending to comfort her. “I know you can do this. You’re a human being.”

Yeah wow, that's an incredible article. Thanks for sharing, Koops!

This part really got to me:

“Where do you guys see your relationship going in the future?” she asked. “No pressure.”

Kirsten looked at Jack. “You go first,” she said.

“I see it going along the way it is for the foreseeable future,” Jack said.

This is absolutely something that Sheldon would say.

Glad you guys enjoyed it! :) One thing also reminded me a lot of Penny and Amy, when Kirsten's ex boyfriend is trying to mentor her and tell her that people are getting bored and don't care about her babbling away about physiology. So much of that reminds me of the way Penny as been "coaching" Amy to navigate social situations. There was definitely a lot in this article that reminded me of Sheldon and Amy, not just as a couple but as characters.

And I guess one thing Amy is lucky with is that, unlike Jack, Sheldon seems pretty fond of kissing ;)

Thanks for the link Koops, it was great! I liked the article much and it did remind me about Shamy a lot.

As for the latter part, I guess Sheldon will, when the right time comes, enjoy other forms of intimacy with Amy as well, as profoundly he seems to enjoy kissing with her. He is not a fan of hand holding likewise Jack wasn't,  but he really truly seems to enjoy kissing. That brings me to think what makes the difference to him between hand holding and kissing, that he can enjoy kissing but can't enjoy holding hands. If it is just the sweaty sensation of unnecessary touching or that it looks dumb causing his aversion of some sort about it, then how come kissing is different to that? Kissing isn't more hygienic when compared to hand holding, that's for sure. Any ideas?

To our knowledge they didn't include handholding as a part of intimacy in their relationship to the Relationship Agreement at any point, but kissing made the difference to him. :)

My guess is that it might be more to do with sensations than hygiene. He probably doesn't like the sensation of handholding but he likes that of kissing. I mean, they are two completely different forms of contact, with different body parts involved, and Sheldon always seems to have had an aversion with touching other people's hands. But he doesn't seem to have a problem with hugging or kissing. Maybe it's really something to do with hand-contact that puts him off.

You hands start to hurt after a while, they get sweaty easily, you don't know that the other person's hand is clean, their hand may be too cold/hot, your hand gets hot after a while or there's too much/little pressure from the other person's hand.

Kissing can be a sensation thing especially if the person is very sensitive to touching on their face or just touching in general.  The person with the aversion could also have a very strong sense of smell and it doesn't matter how fresh someone's breath is they still can't handle it.

Did u guys see what Jimmy said?

“I would advise Sheldon to do what it takes to keep Amy [Mayim Bialik] in his life — seems to me everybody irritates Sheldon at one level or another and, of all the people in his life, she appears to irritate him the least. Added to that fact that Amy seems to love Sheldon (despite everyone else’s opinion that she shouldn’t), and I just think Sheldon would be well-advised to not play fast and loose with her affection.”

Didn't Jim say the same thing last year about Amy irritating Sheldon the least?

He has said things very similar to this in tons of different interviews, so not sure of the timeline of this.

Now Mayim's comments...never heard those before.

Either way, loved reading them

Jim mentioned Shamy almost every time he was interviewed about TBBT. Mayim didn't express her opinion in the way I expected but she posted that photoshopped picture and their selfie on IG, FB, and twitter. I think both of them love this relationship.
