I just watched the episode.

A beautiful episode ! I smiled at a lot of scenes. Bernie singing, Amy said I love you with a little flirty look, and when they exchange gifts. Jim always played perfectly ! All these expressions on his face !

 

I love this episode for all the shamy things. (and the guys and Bernie singing).

I expected the "you really do love her, don't you?" at the mall would be the highlight, and I adored it, but the gift-giving scene was the best.  Correct me if I'm wrong, but this is the first time the gang has seen them having a tender moment.  Penny saw him give her the tiara and Leonard was there on the way back from AZ, but otherwise their "moments" are private.  I love that the gang are finally seeing the true nature of Sheldon and Amy's relationship, that it's not a joke.

 

We all know they always end a sweet scene with a joke, and Sheldon's reaction to Raj reaching for a cookie was absolutely perfect.

 

As an aside, I loved Amy's hair in this episode.

Sheldon's face after he ate the cookie got me every time, it looks like he's about to cry. Jim Parsons did nail it, this man can make me laugh and cry, so talented. I also love the writers so much I wanna hug them and thank them for this Christmas gift they gave me.

Remember at Comic-con last year when Molaro said Sheldon would be less resistant this season to his relationship with Amy?  It sounded like good news at the time, but none of us had any idea it would be *this* good.

Slightly off topic, but not quite:

 

Prom aired in the UK last night (Thursday).  I had not seen any of this episode other than the ILY scene (how could I not sneak peek that) – and yes I know that I am probably in the minority here.

 

It delivered all and more than I expected.  Thanks to all the comments on this thread, I loved all the subtle nuances that led to the ILY, however did anyone notice how nervous Sheldon was when he and Leonard knocked on 4B.  When Penny opens the door, you see Sheldon behind Leonard, nervously licking his lips, and that was before he even saw Amy.  No wonder the poor guy had a panic attack.

 

But how is this for a coincidence?  On the night we here in the UK see Sheldon tenderly say ILY to Amy, you guys in the USA hear Amy return it back.  I am sitting here thinking of Sheldon & Amy looking at each other across the world saying ILY.  OK too much feels, need to go get myself a cup of camomile tea to calm me down.

 

 

 

 

ETA - Unfortunately it seems from the local TV guides that no new TBBT episodes are likely to be aired until the New Year, Will have to wait now for my second Christmas present, already got my first last night.

While I know part of Sheldon slapping Raj's hand away was definitely just possessiveness over the cookies, I was also reminded of his line from "The Thanksgiving Decoupling": "Do you mind? We're having a moment here."

So where do I start? Well, I may be repeating what you’ve already said here before me, but I have to write this somewhere haha I literally loved the episode. I was out of breath and almost dying at the beginning of the episode ‘cause of Amy’s “I don’t hate you, I love you.” (Thank you, Mayim!) It was so cute (and a little bit flirty I’d say). So perfect! And Sheldon’s response “Well…”? (“The uterus quivers, does it not?”) Dear Lord. It was such an intimate moment between the two of them that I almost felt embarrassed and intrusive watching it. I loved his dreamy face when he was saying what he knows about Amy…The guy looks A LOT at his girlfriend! Then the gifts giving part (at the Jewish joke I lost it HAHA). So romantic, it started like a revenge from Sheldon, but it ended up being the sweetest moment between the two of them; you can see on their faces and feel how much they love each other and how pure their love is. Sheldon’s voice in the message? *quivering uterus intensifies* My heart was about to burst with joy, together with theirs! And every time I see Sheldon do something romantic, even if he doesn’t mean to, I think of Jim’s words after Season 6: “Does he know romance? Yes. That’s what he’ll get her.” And another thing: when at the end he realizes they’re both happy, it made me think back to season 5 (I guess) when Sheldon was 'complaining' about Amy trying to increase his feeling for her making him happy. Now he's ok with it.  Aw, how far he’s come! (And I can't wait to see more!

I don’t know why TPTB are being so kind to us this season, but I can’t be more grateful for what we’ve got.

Exactly! These moments when Sheldon looks serious (like in the Jedi Proton episode) always make me cry... And Amy's ball of wool made me laugh my ass off. What a magical episode!!!

I'm still not over his face when he mouthed "...as much as I treasure you." Smolder. He winked when the card said "my dear Amy" and did the eyebrow lift thing a bunch of times. It looked so sultry. They're so on par now emotionally that I think the next big scene will definitely have them kissing, or something physical.

Between the prom episode and this episode there has been a huge movement for Amy and Sheldon on the affection front. Looking back to the couple times they had been with Lenny, they also seem almost on the same page. I'm beginning to think the writers are doing that on purpose because they have downplayed the Lenny sex and sleeping together this season, making the Shamy and Lenny relationships look a lot more similar in where they are now. Makes me too wonder if maybe an engagement is coming up late season 8 or 9 and if they will marry before Lenny.

This was the literal quote that came out of my roommates mouth right after we watched scene where Sheldon and Amy exchanged gifts: "OH THEY GON' BANG NOW!" Brace yourselves people, coitus is coming! haha

Absolutely. I think this was a setup so that the more casual viewer can accept Shamy coitus down the road--much like the kiss fake-out prepared us for the real kiss a few episodes later. (Not that it will be that soon, but it's a-coming....)

Omg that episode! Even having read the report I wasn't ready for the impact of it on screen.

Seriously, I think I love it even more than Prom, but only in the sense that this episode took what happened in Prom and expanded on it for nearly a whole episode. I cannot get over the level of intimacy between them in the episode, IN THE OPEN IN FRONT OF EVERYONE. They are a pair of smitten kittens and I love it.

Moments that made me lose it:

- The way Amy said ILY to Sheldon *I just melted*

- When Sheldon was talking about what he knows about Amy (which turned into what he loves about Amy interestingly enough). Good god, I know it was in the taping report but seeing it on screen was so surreal. He doesn't just love her, he LOVES her. And Nusspot is right, that boy has been staring at this girlfriend and taking it all in for a while now. I'm now obsessed with the image of him watching Amy as she watches her old French movies. How is Sheldon this good at romance???? That boy has mad skills for such a normally socially inept creature *lol*

- The gift giving scene!!!! That was the sweetest fricken thing I have ever seen, almost sickeningly so (in a good way). The whole bit where he was mouthing along with the recording and the nose crinkle with the f*ing eyebrow wiggle again. Omg sexy. I swear when that boy finally decides to turn it on and point that flirting towards Amy directly, holy crow how is she supposed to control herself from jumping him then and there??? So, so sexy. Again Sheldon, what the hell dude!?! How are you so good at this???

- And the fact that Amy called Meemaw to get the cookie recipe. That just gives me all kinds of warm fuzzies. Amy has talked to Meemaw *sigh, I love it*

On the comedy front, I actually thought the scenes with Raj's dad were a bit weak. Not bad, just not laugh out loud funny. But the guys in the lab with the bird(s), that had me laughing hysterically. It was so over the top and ridiculous, but gave the guys a chance to riff on each other.

I'm going to be watching this one obsessively. Just... yeah, best xmas present from the show writers ever.

What I would really love to see, for both comedic and romantic reasons, is a really really fantastic "first time" for Shamy followed by Sheldon getting just a bit addicted for a while!

 

That would be a good twist on the "Sheldon does'nt like sex or affection" storyline and it would make sense since we now know how much of that is just an act designed to make him seem logical and aloof.
