Watching it again (big duh, there, right?) and I noticed that when Sheldon is telling Bernadette in the car about how Amy is insisting he celebrate the holiday and about the public kiss under the mistletoe, he doesn't sound all that upset.  He's whining about it being like a Tijuana sex show, but there's not a whole lot of displeasure there.  Me thinks this man doth protest too much.  Sounds like he got caught up in the pleasure of it, but being Sheldon, has to complain about it.

 

Laughed hysterically about the clean room scenes.  Having worked for two companies with fabs (Intel! I think I still have my lame' fab bunny somewhere, remember those commercials? and now IBM) I've been in the bunny suits and know the protocol for clean room, etc..  Not even close, but loved the premise.

What I would really love to see, for both comedic and romantic reasons, is a really really fantastic "first time" for Shamy followed by Sheldon getting just a bit addicted for a while!

 

That would be a good twist on the "Sheldon does'nt like sex or affection" storyline and it would make sense since we now know how much of that is just an act designed to make him seem logical and aloof.

I've been saying for a long time that once Sheldon gets on that horse he's going to realize he loves it and won't want to stop.  Amy's going to be one sore, but happy, girl.

Also I was paying attention to Amy's fridge and it seems to be the first time we see pictures on it (yeah, I checked previous episodes lol). I wonder who the people in them are. Just curious.

Okay I am late to the party because of real life.

I have watched the episode only twice as opposed to some of you others but I have watched the scene with Bernadette in the mall over and over and over.....you tube is great for things like that.

 

I absolutely loved this episode!!!!!! Everything about it. The boys in the clean room cracked me up. It made the sweet stuff that much more special.

I do have one complaint and maybe it is just me, and don't get me wrong I know it was done for the comedy part. I didn't like the line after he admits how much he loves Amy. I just thought there could have been something different said, like "Okay now let's go ruin her Christmas" Instead of "let's get her a gift that makes her feel small and worthless." We KNOW Sheldon loves her so why do they have to insist on making him look like a jerk to her sometimes. It just rubbed me the wrong way. But like I said that was my opinion.

Overall I loved the episode so I can overlook that small detail.

 

I loved the Santa scene where he admitted that maybe dating him was punishment enough.

Just got to watch it and everything about this episode was perfect to me! I could wax rhapsodic on it for hours, I had to to keep rewinding parts because I loved them so much. I just don't know where to begin. In the opening scene I love how he just looks at her when talking about She-hulk. Then I died when Amy says "I don't hate you, I love you." his respinse was perfect. The way he said well was like and I love you back to me, he did not want to get too hippy dippy in front of everyone but he did not deny it. The whole car scence with Bernadette was pure gold, then in the mall I was a puddle of goo the whole time. He does this little lip bite thing when they first start talking that  made my uterus quiver, then the way he looked while he talked about Amy I was crying, I just loved it so much. Then the kick in the pants, that gift, her reaction, and the way he says "I treasure you" while mouthing along, I dont care if he was being a smart ass by that point I had melted onto the floor. This is far and away my favorite episode of all time.

Normally, I would hate that line too but I think it's just the "Sheldon contradicting himself" theme and you can tell by the look on Bernie's face when he says that, she's not buying it but just trying to cover up his "hippy dippy" feelings.

I don't know why it rubbed me the wrong way because I knew all the goodness that was coming up afterwards.

Exactly! These moments when Sheldon looks serious (like in the Jedi Proton episode) always make me cry... And Amy's ball of wool made me laugh my ass off. What a magical episode!!!

 

I love Sheldon's little double take when Amy mentions Raj's dad giving her the Heimllich. 

 

Makes me too wonder if maybe an engagement is coming up late season 8 or 9 and if they will marry before Lenny.

 

I've wondered for a while now if the writers will go this route because Shamy is clearly the most stable couple on the show and is already contractually bound, lol, so it wouldn't be a big leap at all to make now that Sheldon loves her and is having to accept change in his life regardless (with Leonard moving out, etc.).  And for people who don't analyze things as much as we do, it would have a nice shock factor.

 

Besides, the show has every reason to postpone a Lenny marriage for as long as possible, IMO.  There are a lot of possibilities for comedy with wedding planning, pre-wedding counseling/jitters, etc., that the show hasn't done yet, and their wedding has been one of the biggest moments the show has been building up to all these years.

its funny, but I agree.  I never saw them engaged/married any time soon.  And while I still don't expect anything like that this season, I can now actually visualize it in my head.  And maybe, just maybe, they could beat Lenny to the altar....but I kinda don't want that....Its funny, but what I love about them is the slow pace (starting to sound like Mayim) and I wouldn't want that now being rushed, you know. 

 

They have really grown together and matured so much.  I mean, when you watch them interact in season 4 to now, what a difference.  Its amazing that we've seen all their firsts on-screen, and all these firsts are with each other. 

 

The fact that this woman has changed him so much, even making him enjoy and understand the giving part of Christmas (after we all saw Leonard's failed attempt in season 6) is awesome. 

 

Its such a beautiful story.  And I don't want them to rush to the bedroom or altar right away.  Progress, yes of course, and we've been given so much already this season....I seriously can't imagine how much more we could get (ok, still want a heated makeout but in do time....)

 

I'm nervous, elated, touched.....like I have said, this beats my first love story so much!!!

I just want to throw this out there to get opinions. Do you think the writers have purposely avoided kissing, affection displays and sex references for Lenny to do some sort of comparison between the Lenny and Shamy relationship, for something in the future. If they make those factors less prominent on the show, for Lenny, the Shamy looks closer to Lenny in their relationship, heck they even already did a relationship comparison episode too. So if the relationships look similar, then it wouldn't look so strange if Shamy made a major relationship jump, maybe even ahead of Lenny, right? Their ILYs are now progressing faster the Lenny after they said it, so it made me think.......Anyway it was just a thought I had.

No, I really don't think the lack of kissing for any of the couples has to do with one another.  I think both couples are growing within different ways in their own relationships.  Right now, Lenny is career focused, and growing big time on that front.  If anything, this season both separately & apart they've demonstrated how they are the most grounded and make some of the more mature decisions in life out of their group.

 

Shamy is working on and growing on their emotional stuff right now.  And what a beautiful ride its been. 

 

So I do not think one is related to the other.

 

BUT, I do think growth on both fronts is going to translate (which we've already seen) into finally breaking up the living arrangements.  But again, lack of kissing has nothing to do with this.

I never thought of the fact they are trying to compare the relationships. We know Lenny has the physical relationship. They did do the comparison show but I think that was more so we could see that Lenny is nervous about getting married and having nothing in common. I don't know, I would hope the writers are not doing that just so Shamy catches up. That would make no sense.

But I am enjoying the Shamy progress.

To be clear, I tend to agree.  I like the slow pace, and tbh as much as I've been loving all the cuteness we've been getting, I'd like to see a bit of homeostasis for several episodes while the focus is on other characters/couples.  My mind can fill in the Shamy blanks.  If there is going to be a wedding before the end, I'd rather it not be before late Season 9, but that's just me.

 

I am expecting some sort of milestone at the end of the season, based on all the buildup we're getting, but  I'm really not sure which at this point.  I'm leaning toward the living arrangements changing.  And not necessarily even Amy moving in...maybe just Leonard moving in with Penny, leaving Sheldon alone in 4A, and Sheldon proposing a one-night-a-week trial run with her, or something.  I don't know.  But whatever happens, after the season we've been having, I know it'll be perfect.

After stepping away from the episode and thinking rationally: While I really really do want to see Shamy get married, I don't think it will happen before Leonard and Penny. Not just because L/P are the main couple and were engaged first, but honestly because I think the writers delaying a Shamy wedding is smarter than L/P's wedding. I think a good chunk of the audience is more interested in seeing what happens with Shamy, so the longer it takes the more the audience is invested. And if they got Shamy engaged before Leonard and Penny walk down the aisle, I think a lot of fans would want to see Shamy marry first, so it would take away from L/P's moment. 

 

Anyway, this episode made me tear up more than prom did! And I didn't realize when I read the taping report Sheldon calls her 'dear' - that's the second time now, and I love it!

I watched that divine Christmas ep with the Christmas tree as the backround and then all these beautiful things happened and I can tell you it must be heaven!! I just cannot get over how great my babies are!! And they are happy and Amy manages to make Sheldon like Christmas and I just can't...Shamy exchanging gifts, Amy's ILY, all the things Sheldon knows (likes) about Amy and did I mention the gift giving??? Sheldon's lips moving while listening at that adorable message ???? Amy's face of happiness!!!!!

Though I agree with your first sentence, I really do believe Shamy will get married before Lenny. It would create some situational irony and pull out some laughs. Anyways, I get the feeling Lenny will get married at the end of the series because, after all, they were the 'original' couple. The show started out by implying they would be together at the end. Shamy and Howardette are 'add-ons' and were never as planned as Lennny. (not to criticize Lenny in any way). 

 

The writers will probably bring the show full circle, begin with Lenny, and end with Lenny. It would be the ultimate conclusion, and the finale that wraps up the show, from episode 1 to ___. Shamy will not be the show -ender... I'll say they will get married sooner than we think. The writers are hinting, now they need to act upon those tidbits they have thrown at us!

I don't even know where to start Like much of you I was expecting a lot from the "I do" in the shpping mall, but the gift exchange scene was Shamy perfection. Our babies have grown up so well !!!

 

The "I don't hate you, I love you" from Mayim ... give the girl that Emmy already !!!!!

 

The "You wish you were Jewish now", LOL !!!!

 

Jim and Mayim are perfection They are SO DAMN gifted!!!!!

 

Off to watch it again !!!! Please don't make 3 pages of posts in the meantime lol
