I am already looking ahead to season 9 for more Shamy magic as I think the book closed on season 8 for them.

But hell we got

-he cares what she thinks of him

-he is proud of their relationship

-sees her the same as a wife when consulting her about big financial stuff (cough cough something another couple does not)

-he does find her attractive

-he has urges

-they love each other

-they express the love vocally infront of everyone

-he was willing to change his mars plans for her

-they want to be each others future

-first sleepover

And more continuation of their love with date nights, playing games together, couply banter, kissing (off screen) regularly

I mean holy moly now THAT was crapstorm of romance that came our way!!!

It just happens when you have a show with this many characters with this many relationships. Sometimes certain characters/relationships have to be put on the back burner to allow the development of others.

 

Notice we haven't seen anything of Emily and Raj for a while? I know they aren't a main couple but they are still a couple and very little has been done with either for a while. 

 

It just is what it is. As a shamy fan, I'm disappointed because I'd love every episode to be about them. As a BBT fan I'm just happy to see another episode happen that will be funny and entertaining. People who just watch the show for one character or one relationship are always going to be disappointed in one way or another. Those who watch it for many different aspects will always find something to enjoy.

I would love to see them sitting on the couch just cuddling. They don't even need to be by themselves, they could be watching a movie with the gang or with Penny and Leonard.

I don't need a kiss although I will admit I would love one.

I have no problem with Shamy being put on the backburner, it’s what they’ve always done after a significant episode for them, but even when they’ve done that Amy has usually appeared in the episode even if it’s just with Penny and Bernadette. To have two episodes where she is in just one scene, followed by one where she isn’t even mentioned, is strange.

If there was no cold open shown, it could be that it was pretaped but maybe had some kind of special effects where it wasn't ready to be shown to the audience.

If Mayim is contracted to be in all the episodes, then she'll have to be in the cold open, if that was the only scene not shown.

 

Sorry I missed the chat last night, guys, but I actually fell asleep (too many long nights) and then got up at the butt-crack of dawn to work on my taxes (which I'm still working on...)

 

What was the tag scene of the episode?

I just read the report. Seems pretty good. I'm sure it will crack me up. 

 

Should we be concerned about Mayim? Haven't heard of her in a while. Hope her absence is not related with something alarming or bad. 

 

Now that I think about it, I think the fort episode was a good way to finish the season for Shamy. It was a huge step, and as far as we know, they're both in a right place, finally they're on the same page and they seem happy about it, especially Sheldon. Seems like this season he just let himself go and he's having a good time. No need to worry about them.

 

What really gets me down is that I was expecting some Mary/Amy interaction; the only interaction we've seen was from "The zazzy substitution". I'm sure that Amy and Mary have a good relationship now and that Mary really likes her. Sheldon must have told her a biullion things about her and if Sheldon's happy, then Mary is happy too.

 

It's kind of weird that Amy doesn't has any contact with Mary on this episode. It's such a waste of good material in here; it would've been really interesting and funny. 

 

And I don't think there are some pretaped scenes, the audience would have seen them along with the taping. 

 

Anyway, hope the finale is good, but I'm not expecting any Shamy for the finale. I still think it's going to be Lenny, or even Shelnard, but related to the paper, no the living arrengements.

Shamy's may have had a good season. Amy as a character has had a pretty bad one. She has no role a part from being Sheldon's girl friend. The one thing she's done a part from Sheldon in the back half of the season, assisting Barry, was only used to springboard Shenny interaction.

 

She doesn't even really have much inter action with her friends. They've just decided to stop writing for her. They couldn't have given her some story in the last 3 episodes? That's just lame. Even Raj doesn't go 3 stories without a B story. Amy's a great character that they are squandering.

 

And I do doubt we'll get anything in the finale to make it better. Maybe she'll get to have dinner again.

 

I am glad for the moms, but I wanted Amy in there for that. She would have been great there.

I actually don't think Amy as a character has had a bad season. She had the episode where she was the "popular" girl and got to play Penny and Bernadette against each other. She had the Christmas party at her house. Her fanfiction about Cooper & Amelia was featured and even got a dream sequence. I mean we didn't learn much about her background, but she was featured in some episodes, much more than Bernadette has been at least.

 

And as much it sucks to admit, she isn't one of the main 3, or even the original 5. Big Bang isn't a true ensemble show. Raj & Howard will get more than Amy and Bernadette. And the main 3 will get a lot more than all of the others.

I read in a thread from last season that after Season 4 (or maybe 5?) that Mayim was contracted to appear in every single episode. So if there a cold open that was not shown it likely one was pre tape with her in it or it could be tape later this week.

I doubt they didn't film one as it would be pretty unusual

Ok glad to see the majority of us are being mature and very grateful for all the Shamy love and great moments Sheldon, Amy and Sheldon/Amy together have had.

 

I cannot believe anybody could feel slightest in the least that solo or together our ship hasn't had their fair share.  They've had beyond what we all expected.

 

Will we miss Amy in these 3 episodes, OF COURSE.  She is my personal favorite character.  Love her.  But not concerned about her future on the show or as a character of importance.

I don't think Mayim was shortchanged at all. Considering the lack of progress they've had in previous seasons, this season has been a gift.

I am frankly puzzled by the quasi total absence of Amy recently. Not because I need Shamy scenes per se, but I don't understand why exclude Amy as a character for a whole month. And if the paper won an award, wouldn't the girlfriends be proud too? At least present in the background? After 5 years I would think Amy deserves at least to be a background character in the whole moms feud? Mary asked about her in S5 before they were even dating and yet now that they're so serious Amy doesn't even come up in conversation? (I also have to say, though, S1 was on E4 last night and I had forgotten that the whole Shelnard paper plot had already been done before so... I'm kind of even more bored with it now).

I really loved the Fort episode but I always felt it came too soon (as in, the topic was season finale material) and that possibly because it came too soon, the ending was a bit anticlimactic: building up so nicely to this huge step and instead of showing at least part of the sleepover have Leonard crash the party. I don't feel like that ending did justice to how big a moment it was or to the whole sweet and warm atmosphere of the fort, and I wonder whether they would have wrapped it up differently had it been a season finale.

I have nothing to complain about really where Shamy are concerned, so I'm definitely not turning my back to the show, but as an Amy fan I'm really disappointed with the last three eps because her absence is reminiscent of S4 when she was not a full cast member and I thought we were past that. It would be good to know if something is up with Mayim's private life (hopefully nothing serious) or these are conscious writers choices.

 

The lack of Amy stuff could be partly logistical--if Mayim is going to be less available during the week of rehearsals or something, the writers may give her lighter duty.  I don't know that much about what goes on in Mayim's personal life, but that could be part of the reason.

 

And the other thing is just where the stories go.  Melissa had a pretty light night for the taping I saw.  Bernie was in one short scene with Howard and one scene with Penny.

And the focus of the story was on the guys--Leonard and Raj and then Sheldon and Howard--and on Penny's decision to do the audition.

 

As for the Shelnard paper idea--the S1 version was very different.  They had an idea and worked on the paper, but it didn't seem to be the happy collaboration that this paper has been.  And I don't think we've actually seen much about the paper itself apart from the initial one.  The other mentions have just been as a springboard for whatever else happens--Hawking trolling them over it, arguing about the magazine mention, the detour onto Skywalker Ranch--and I like the bit of continuity and the reminder that they do more than read comic books and play video games.

 

I'm actually kind of glad they didn't dwell more on the fort.  We got to see how they assuaged their earlier feelings of disappointment at being left out, what a great fort they came up with and how they were enjoying it to much that Sheldon didn't want it to end.

But I think that the G-rated negotiation was enough to tell us that they weren't going to be doing anything relationally monumental in the fort, so it wasn't a problem that Leonard joined them.

I think that the point of that was that it was just a sleepover, not a sex tent, or even a make-out fort.  It was just something to delight in having.  And like Sheldon said, he wanted to be able to exclude someone, the way he had been excluded, but he was so proud of the fort that he wanted to show it off.

 

Though it was a big step for Sheldon and Amy to have their first sleepover, that fact itself was the step and we saw what led to it and how they negotiated their way into it--and that Amy was prepared.

 

I'm glad they didn't dwell on it any more than that.

Trinabeana78 is right, but it's always difficult to be reminded that Amy is not, in fact, a main character. In my head, she should be. As the nerdiest woman on a show about nerds, I'd prefer to see her take the focus more often. It is what it is, though, and the show is still great.

 

Even though I'm not happy about it, I can understand why the writers didn't use her here. Amy's presence would've demanded a serious piece of time on its own, and it isn't the story they were trying to tell at this time. Bev and Mary are wickedly funny, so I'm still really looking forward to watching this ep.

My husband just bought a new dog and to assuage my ire about it he told me the dogs name was Amy Farah Fowler!!! lol.

Not going to lie, I am bummed out by the lack of Am the last thre episodes, and my hopes for the finally are down. That being said we have had a good run of it this season, and CBS is marketing Shamy pretty heavy so I am not worried.

We love Amy/Mayim a lot !

I always say that because of Mayim, Amy is what Amy is. When she interacts with Jim they make their characters SO BIG! They are perfect!

SHAMY is SHAMY because Mayim plays Amy. That´s all!

Hopefully you're right, but she's still off-grid which I find worrying. Even when she's not working, she usually posts something, somewhere. To be honest whether she appears in the finale or not is insignificant, the most important thing is that her and her family are OK.
