I think he will actually be mature and give her space as she requested....but eagerly try and find out what she is up to from their social circle (this all depends on Lenny and where they are at when they return).  This actually has a lot of comedy potential.

 

They will both be miserable without each other (but might not want the other one knowing how bad they are) and for some reason they will be forced to be at the same place (a party, an event, something that will drive them together).  It will be painfully awkward but once that is overcome, he will slowly start working his way back into her life and making her #1. 

 

I hope this arc lasts no longer than Nov sweeps....With the big make-up/make-out occurring just for that time.

 

 

And then from there boom!

 

I can see Sheldon trying to get info form Penny and Bernadette like Howard did after him and Bernadette broke up. 

 

My question is if the 'break' is not ended in the first few episodes will she still come around for Group Get Togethers , Occasions, etc,.?

Now that I read this, WOAAAAAH!!!! I don't know if I should feel this way since I didn't saw the scene and I don't really know how he said this line, BUT MY GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD! That totally sounds like he might be ready to have coitus with her, I don't know, sounds sexy, sounds hot, sounds interesting, and even more so because it's Sheldon. Who would've thought that he would ever say that to a girl while making out with her???? BUUUUUUUUT, also, it's Sheldon and as unbelievable as it sounds, I'm sure what he meant is that he was thinking about the Flash, trains, dark matter, quantum physics and so many other things.

 

Also, he thinks what he's doing with it FOREPLAY! Now, it's just not a possibility or something he hasn't ruled out, it's going to happen. He wants to make love to Amy but he's not ready yet. Amy just got tired of waiting. 

 

This might be the 594755849248 time I post here after the taping, but I'd like to point out that they still have THE RELATIONSHIP AGREEMENT!!!!! They didn't sign anything to confirm they're breaking up, THERE'S NO BREAK UP!!!! IT'S NOT OFFICIAL!

 

So, based on the kinda things the writers like to do with this show, it's safe to say that Sheldon and Amy are, well, going back together (even they're not breaking up) as soon as the season begins.

 

 

 

 

Well, too much drama for me now, I'm just going to focus on the hot shamy make out session that's going be mindblowing.

I'm so upset because of Amy's badly-timed reaction that I absolutely DO NOT want Sheldon to chase her. In my opinion, since she is the one who took the decision of the pause ( for bad reasons nonetheless ), sh has to be the one to initiate the reconciliation.

 

I just can't imagine how.

 

What I clearly imagine is Sheldon calling Leonard for emotional support after his Skype conversation with Amy, and Leonard totally panicked would order Penny to turn back because there is no way he let Sheldon adopt 25 cats again lol. Then, no wedding for Lenny...

I definitely thought about too. that what Sheldon needs His Meemaw. Would be great if she came to town and talk to Sheldon . Would be interesting  if she called amy but didn't tell Sheldon she did.

Wow, still not recovered from all the revelations from the finale. I love all the analysis and ideas in this thread so far.

I can't get too wordy, on my phone here...but I also can envision Sheldon dragging the Rel Ag out at some point, in hopefully humorous fashion. An emergency relationship treaty summit? Amy did after all refer to it and got those "binding", hot (according to Penny ;-) make up dates!

I don't mean like he forces her into something using RA, just that he would see it as a frame of reference and they can talk things out from there. Would be awesome if they amended the RA together to include future make out sessions...and more! :o

it's been a little over 12 hours ( since i found out)  .... my mind is actually blank.    

even though i have read countless stories of Shamy making out... i just can't picture it. Sheldon making out.... on the couch... a ring in his desk drawer... and Amy pulling the emergency brake this time... wow... can't even begin to fathom how this will play out in September...

The only one I can think of, is after the tag ended Mayim ran up to Jim still sitting at the computer and jumped before she grabbed his shoulders from behind. She was so happy and he smiled big at her. It was really sweet.

This is what I saw....

The story starts out with Sheldon and Amy on the couch. As soon as the seen starts, they are totally making out. She has her arms around his neck. He has his arm around her back, and his other hand on her upper thigh. They both totally look into it. They stop kissing, and Amy smiles up at Sheldon and says, I can't believe that it's out 5 year anniversary. Sheldon smiles, at Amy and says, do you think that I should watch the Flash on TV? Amy looks upset and says, is that really what you are thinking about right now. He says, well it's one of the things that I am thinking about. She says, am I in there? He says, well yes. I asked YOU if you thought I should watch the Flash. Sheldon leans in to start kissing Amy again, but she stops him. She is upset. She said, don't you think it's ironic, you want to watch a show called the Flash when our own relationship is going so slow. Then there is some stuff, I don't remember all the details, where he says do you want me to be sarcastic, and she says yes sarcastically. He of course doesn't catch it.

Later scene with Sheldon, Leonard and Penny. Sheldon tells them they were making out like two teenagers under the bleachers. Then he mentions his Flash comment and that Amy got upset. Penny says she didn't blame them for being upset for their relationship being so slow, it's been 5 years and they haven't even had sex. Sheldon says that foreplay. He's upset they went from kissy face to angry face. Then they go back to talking about Lenny.

Final tag scene: Amy is up on Skype with Sheldon. She looks really upset. She says she wants to talk about their relationship. Sheldon says that he does too. Then she says that their relationship had been really difficult . He disagreed. She looks super broken like she is going to cry. She says this is hard because she loves him, but she needs some time to think about things. Sheldon looks quiet and shocked. She asks him if he understands. He says alright. Both look upset and close their laptops. He turns his Gollom figurine toward him and says to it sadly, Well you are the master of the rings, what should I do about this one. He pulls out a ring box out of his desk and opens it and looks at it. Fade to black.

I love what koops has been saying about how it would be great if it is clear in the episode that the problem isn't with Amy being frustrated because she ain't getting some, but with Amy being afraid that Sheldon doesn't really want her in that way and that he is only going along with what she wants because he loves her so much. Because while I would have very little patience with an Amy who tells Sheldon he isn't giving her anything (when he actually has given her everything but sex since he has showered her with love and a promise of dying by her side), my heart would actually break for an Amy who can see that Sheldon is going to sleep with her soon but who doesn't know if that's because he wants her or because he wants her happiness.

While it is obvious to us that Sheldon wants to jump her bones, I can certainly understand where Amy would think he doesn't really want to, because he actually negotiated their sleepover to make sure nothing would happen. The negotiations were a bit irksome at the time, but now I wonder if they weren't simply foreshadowing, a way for the writer to tell us "Amy still thinks Sheldon isn't really into her sexually because of his language."

This cold open actually features the same dynamic as the sleepover negotiations: Sheldon says something that suggests a lack of interest ("Should I watch The Flash?"/"We're not doing anything tonight.") but his body language suggests a complete interest (hand on her thigh and going back for more/gulping like crazy and almost drooling all over her).

So yeah I can certainly see where Amy is coming from if we go at it with the "she's not sure where to stand on the intimacy front" angle. What I don't like is the way she worded it, I guess. When she says "All I've ever gotten out of this relationship is a distracted make out session" it makes me a bit mad because it kind of passes off all of Sheldon's other accomplishments as being nothing. Now I also understand that this might just be a question of the writers just wanting to throw in a cheap joke, because that's what they are.

One thing is sure - this summer hiatus will be a lot easier for me than last summer's, because this time I'm not HULK SMASH ANGRY. I'm mostly just sad for both Sheldon and Amy.

I really like that explanation about where Amy is coming from. I really cannot wait to see how this plays out in the episode. But I admit that Amy's line about the distracted make out is a bit frustrating after that season. Actually that was my dream scenario for season 8 opener. Exactly that. Amy calmly saying that she did a lot of thinking while he was away and she thinks they should reevaluate the relationship. But at this point she should know that he is committed to her and that surely isn't nothing. I adore Amy but that line could be really hurtful and I think she should apologise. Not for wanting some space it's her right after all but for saying this. Anyway that finale is definitely better than the last one for me. I keep my fingers crossed for an interesting first episode after that that will help us understand Amy's state of mind a little bit more and how come Sheldon started thinking about an engagement. I'd really love to know more about it.

As for the break I guess it's a couple of days with no talking. If her real problem is that she wants Sheldon to want her and feels afraid to ask then she will realize pretty soon that the only way to know is to ask. So if this really is the case (which I hope is) even if she decides how she'd react if he did everything because she wanted to she still needs to ask. I believe that this could play out great in the long run and Amy could have a great growing moment. I really really hope the writers don't miss out on this opportunity. If something's bothering her she needs to talk and she needs to have confidence in herself.

As for the engagement I am really curious as how this will play out. I didn't expect it and tbh I am pretty pleased with their level of commitment this season so I didn't expect this at all.

We get a small glimpse of the lives of these characters. Things that happen behind the scenes comprise the majority of their lives. We just get the highlights.

We know that Amy and Sheldon kiss off screen. Leonard mentioned it, and that he didn't find it particularly romantic.

Of the three kisses we have witnessed, one was brought on by anger, one was interrupted by Sheldon talking about PS4 controllers and a make out session was shut down because of The Flash tv show.

If 100% of the kisses that we got to see were interrupted or generated in a manner other than by desire to do so, how many of the other kisses do you think went smoothly?

Amy has been with this man for 5 years, which is a huge investment in time and emotional energy. She has put up with a large amount of malarkey, everything from being told that her lips look too slippery to being mocked about spending their sunset years together.

Even if you are an emotional door mat, this wears on you. Over time it has a cumulative effect wherein when another instance occurs, it adds another load to your already heavy burden.

But, you say, Madamocho, season 8 was the year of the Shamy! Sheldon had improved, Amy can't complain. From first hand experience I can say that being repeatedly let down by someone whom you love is trying. But when you get that glimmer of hope, that moment when things get better for a little while and you hope against hope that things have changed, just to be disappointed yet again. I find that is far worse. Your delicate ego that has been bombarded with low expectations blossoms with this new hope just to be crushed again, and without that cautious shield you had put around it to protect yourself.

It is hard enough to be in a relationship where both parties are fully invested and of the like mind. It is an uphill battle when you are not on the same page and and dragging your partner with one hand and feeling they don't want the same things you do.

So picture your own life. You're getting hot and heavy with your loved one and they ask if you should change the drapes, or what they want for dinner or why the color blue is their favorite color. Now picture that happening half the time you are getting frisky. Or that they found a loophole to get out of not being grumpy on a date by holding up a picture of them smiling. A rule they made by the way.

So Amy, after getting this behavior for 5 years, decided to stop and take a good hard look at this relationship. Was she willing to have any type of romance he was willing to give her interrupted by off topic things? Was she willing to take Sheldon as he is, quirks and all at the detriment of her own ego and self esteem? She hasn't said no yet. She loves him, but does she love herself more? Does she want this to be what she deals with forever? Because even though she thinks that in fan fiction changing another person's personality is called good writing, in real life the only one who can change their personality is themselves.

Now I'm getting off my soapbox.

In other news that engagement ring was ginormus if you like sparkly things like that. And as it was the same day as the day after the fight, he had it for a while in my opinion.

But again, this to me reads like Amy has put up with so much and Sheldon has just been plodding along like nothings the matter.  I get it if she is frustrated, and hell, a lot of us are just irritated at the timing not that it actually happened.  But I just feel like Sheldon gets dismissed a lot here and nothing he ever does is going to be good enough.  He is never gonna be a perfect boyfriend and she isn't, and will never be the perfect girlfriend.  Some people (and maybe Amy, still not 100% where the writers are going with her POV) just have to accept that.  I just don't buy this whole, Amy has suffered so much and Sheldon really hasn't.

 

Sorry if I am rambling and it doesn't make sense.  It has been a long, emotionally draining day.

Hey guys! Im new around here. I've been reading the taping reports for like a year now and After the last one I just had to join.

Thank you so much to everyone who want to the taping for all the amazing info and the taping report.

I have to say I've been an emotional wreck for the last 16 hours. shamy has dominated my life to that point,! But they make me so happy that honestly don't care

Im not sure how I feel about this episode yet. i still need some time to process everything. I'm just wondering why would they do this "break" thing now. in my opinion, there are a lot of things they could have done to create a more "positive" cliffhanger (im not sure how to call it) but this one was kind of angsty and heartbreaking for me..... I know things will eventually get better and this is a build up for the next season.. i just hope it doesnt take that long, im not sure I could handle this break lasting more than a couple of episodes...im a hopeless romantic and i can not wait to see them together happy and in love...boy It's gonna be a long hiatus....
