I wonder if anything happened in the fort that made Amy want to re-evaluate their relationship.... it seems that after the fort, her mood turned kind of sour. Hmmmmm.....................

Maybe nothing happened and what´s why she´s mad with him, or at least disappointed. Maybe she wanted to spoon with him, but he just fall asleep.

I have changed my mind about the log, after rewatching the ep a couple of times, and I now agree with those who say it was just banter. I also don't think we are meant to assume the sleepover was anything but a happy experience for them, based on the way the episode ended and Molaro's statements about it. 

 

On a different note, I'm kind of worried as to whether they have cut out the makeout scene completely from the episode now, and gone with take 2. While I usually don't think physical stuff makes or breaks an episode, in this case I think it is such a massive thing to leave out, especially to give us some clues as to what progress they've made over the last year or so and where Sheldon's mind is at when it comes to it, that I would be massively disappointed/annoyed if the episode were to kick off from that 2-second clip in the promo and we go straight into the drama.

From what I've seen described by those who attended the taping, I think the tag is pretty clear that for Amy, this isn't a pressure tactic nor is it about sex. The way it was reported, Amy is very clearly just defeated and sad. But at the same time, she isn't getting mad at Sheldon or telling him off, or even suggesting that she's leaving him. She comes across as just sad, confused and lost and needing time away to sort out what she needs or wants to say on her own. Isn't that basically what Sheldon did so unelegantly last year? Amy is going the extra mile in contrast though to reassure him that she loves him and asking for his understanding. So given the context and how she goes about it, I don't think the casual viewer will be blaming Amy. I think it will play as incredibly sad for both of them to be honest. There will always be some pockets of viewers who will choose to take sides but overall I think the audience will just be shocked and sad but also incredibly excited to see how things play out next season.

Regarding the mushroom log, maybe Sheldon's real intention was to give Amy something that will "Live long and prosper" ?

This year I found quite odd, indeed, that they miss S. Valentine's day episode...If I remember well, it should have been done around the period of the Intimacy Acceleration (well, at least we now know that Sheldon's birthday is in February!!) Anyway, maybe this time the writers decided to do something different and for Shamy, they told  us afterwords how their Valentine's day was.

 

I don't know if the mushrooms log was meant by the writers as a way to tell us that things weren't as good as we all thought between Sheldon and Amy, it's a possibility...Anyway it was not enough in my opinion! Maybe they had other plans to make  everything clearer and Mayim's sad personal situation not allowed to persue them, but my personal belief is that  they decided to mess things up really in the last episode out of the blue...Hope that this will lead us to a wanderful Season 9, full of all we wish for our heros!!!

I'm kind of glad they didn't do three V-day eps in a row. I would rather they rotated the holiday eps around, rather than do one every year for every major holiday, or it gets predictable. I would kind of want them to drop Xmas in favor of a NYE ep next year. They haven't had a NYE one in years.

But I think Sheldon gave Amy the mushroom log for a reason. The mushroom log lives for a very long time. I think that means Sheldon wants a long relationship with Amy, because Amy would have it for a long time and she would think of him whenever she looks at it. Unlike roses, which would die, the mushroom log, though not romantic, would endure.

The only New Year episode was on Season 4. No SHAMY (but Amy was named by a Sheldon -Flash)  and it was a touching and sad episode for Lenny!

I'm not entirely confident Sheldon's birthday is in February. I don't think the show plays out in real time for us unless otherwise stated with a holiday episode. There could be months between one episode and the next on their timeline, or there'd never be any episodes set between late May and September. In the episode they threw the surprise party for Leonard's birthday, Penny says at the Cheesecake Factory that Sheldon is a "typical Taurus". You don't need to know someone's exact birthday to know their star sign, so if there is any accuracy to that episode that would put Sheldon's birthday somewhere between April 20 and May 20.

And second, what crap?? All the writers did was ONCE AGAIN, let everyone know that "romantic Shenny" will NEVER happen!! Why? Because TPTB have told us how they (the writers) and Sheldon & Penny themselves see each other....AS SIBLINGS!!

I seriously don't see why some Shamy's get so upset whenever they have scenes together. I hope the Amy/Mary dynamic happens a couple of times in season 9. I would like to see Mary in the first or second episode next season having a conversation with Amy and Sheldon separately or together.

She wants to experience this kind of corporal amalgation with her partner. So I think you are right, that when she offered a sleepover, she was expecting some kind of intimacy, but then nothing more happened, so she was kind of dissapointed, because deep insight of her she was hoping for more. So it´s logical, that the more time they spent together, the more she WANTS him and she is starting to realize that it is becoming harder to restrain those feelings.

Desdemona, you are right. I've been re-watching the older episodes, and one of my favorite lines was in S6 when Amy told Penny that if Sheldon ever proposed to her during sex, her ovaries would latch on to him and never let go. So she wants both, the intimacy and the permanent commitment.

I think she knows she has the commitment. Sheldon has said as much; that he wants her wherever he goes. However, when she mentioned having children on Mars, even though Sheldon warmed to the idea, it was after chastizing her for not wanting to keep it in her pants.

People tend to project their own personalities, thought, and feelings on others. We assume someone will react to a situation the way we would and become disappointed when what we expected to happen doesn't. The more I think about it, I think that is what is going on here.

I agree Amy is finding it harder to restrain herself. She is on fire and cannot understand why Sheldon isn't as well and assumes he doesn't desire her. Rather than express her feelings in a way that Sheldon can understand, she is lashing out about flowers, mushroom logs, the Flash, etc. Her frustration is really not about these things. She is in heat, and it is because of him and only for him.

I don't think Sheldon understands, yet, the effect he is having on Amy. Because he has been able to surpress/control his urges, he thinks she should be able to just turn it off. He doesn't get the connection between attraction, emotion, and sex and that her hormones are in overdrive.

Although she loves Sheldon, Amy is possibly evaluating if she can continue in a relationship where sex may never happen.

On the other hand, Sheldon has agreed to a sleepover and is now engaging in "foreplay". He is going further physically than he ever has before and doesn't understand why she is angry, especially when he assured her the Flash was only "one" of the things he was thinking of and tried to continue with the make out. He knows he is ready to permanently commit to Amy in marriage, which means he has accepted that sex will be on the table.

Regarding the proposal, I can see Sheldon going to Amy's apartment or lab after stewing for a few days. She tells him that she doesn't think he wants her, and he says, "Well, I can assure you otherwise". He whips out the ring and continues, "I was getting prepared to give you this, but you stormed out before I had a chance...."

You know, because that would be so Sheldon..... And by telling her it was his plan all along to propose eliminates the belief that he was pushed into it.

Of course that is just one of the many scenarios I've concocted in my imagination.

That would be massively disappointing, but I just don't believe it's going to happen. There are two lines that refer to the kiss as a make-out...how bizarre would it be if all we saw was two seconds of them pulling away? They gave us a tiny taste in the promo but they're saving the good stuff for Thursday. Making it a more intense, passionate kiss was a calculated decision that is significant to this story arc, and the scene will make no sense if it's cut down to a few seconds.
