Yes. Beginning of season 9, Sheldon is going to tell her he desires her physically. This kiss and the ring are our proof.

I really do need a moment...

I freaking thought I am the only one who noticed his thumb!

I agree with koops that the deciding factor in the timeline of the cliffhanger has to be how they're going to stop the Vegas wedding.

It could be that Amy calls or texts Penny because she needs to talk about whatever turmoil she's going through and wants to seek some boyfriend advice, kind of how she ended up at Penny's apartment that time that Sheldon weasled out of going to Amy's aunt's birthday party.

"My boyfriend's a jerk."

Or it could be that Penny tells Leonard to turn the car around or whatever.  I don't think she would necessarily consider a kiss from some random drunk girl to be infidelity on Leonard's part, but she may be bothered that he felt compelled to keep it a secret.

I can see her finally deciding it is an issue they need to talk about, even if it's blown out of proportion.

And Amy and Sheldon's dilemma could sort of mirror that.  Amy wants to be sure that Sheldon is into her when they're together,  on date night, when they're making out, etc., maybe not realizing that he is, but that he's also thinking about The Flash and doesn't understand why he can't be thinking about several things.

But the Lenny wedding won't happen in Vegas, I don't think.  And I would hate for Penny to abandon him at the altar--that would smack too much, IMO, of the bowling alley break-up.  I would hope that if she wants to wait until they can better discuss things, that she wouldn't wait until they get to the altar.

HOWEVER, that being said, I can envision the potential for angst in having them get right to the brink and then Penny getting cold feet.  Or maybe it will be Leonard, who knows?

Or it could indeed be that the Shamy dilemma ends up "rescuing" L/P from going through with the marriage, and they end up talking about the kiss issue and having one of those sweet make-up moments they seem to have (they always seem to have something to "make up" over...)

I wouldn't mind having the Shamy dilemma going on for a few episodes, simply because it would be something different.  The cliffhanger resolution can be L/P deciding not to get married in Vegas, but then leaving the Shamy resolution for a few episodes.

Since they got together, Sheldon and Amy have never had a real break, not even one like this one, that lasted more than the space of one episode.  Even though I don't think they'd consider themselves "broken up" over this, they're in a much more serious spot than they were when Sheldon started a Kitty Kollection, and the consequences could be more interesting for both of them.

I think that Amy could use Penny as a sympathetic ear, since she knows Sheldon so well and understands how Amy's influence has changed him, and perhaps something of how his mind works.  If nothing else, she can be a sounding board for Amy to talk to, just to vent.

I wonder if they'd try to have Sheldon trying to play it cool, since his pride is such a hindrance to him being able to be honest.  Maybe for the first episode he tries to pretend that it doesn't bother him.

I've always wanted to see Sheldon go a little nuts.  Since we've already had the clowder of cats reaction, I wonder if he would either maybe start to neglect his appearance, getting all wrinkled and scruffy, forgetting his pajama rotation, maybe forgetting to shave...(stubble!), or if would go the other direction and get super-hyper strict about everything in his life, trying to focus on something other than the fact that Amy wants to step back from him.

What would be the consequences if the writers decide to keep them from resolving it right away?

Would Amy stay away from the group dinners?  No more date nights? (what would Sheldon do instead?)

Would she still participate in Girls Nights?  And if so, what would that be like?

Even if it's just an episode or two, the episodes could indicate the passage of a few days or weeks (after L/P get back from Vegas, that is.)

Oh, and one other thing--I REALLY hope they do NOT go the route of double wedding.  I can't see that Amy/Sheldon would want the same kind of wedding that Leonard/Penny would want.

I've been envisioning a very stubbly, messy haired, wrinkle-clothed Sheldon ever since seeing the taping, IF they decide to make it a few days or more.

And I agree on the double wedding.  I REALLY don't want that.  I think both couples deserve their own special days.

I just keep thinking back to Molaro's comment in the April Hollywood Reporter article...

"We’re just focusing on finishing up season eight strong and coming back hard out of the gate for season nine. "

Sheldon, or the writers?  ;)  Okay, okay, sorry... (only I'm not...)

I just got finished watching episode 6.07 The Habitat Configuration.

When drunk Sheldon went to Wil Wheaton's house, he attempted his triple knock on the door but lost count. As Wil opened the door, he carried on in conversation ready to fight for Amy but then concluded he had only knocked twice, paused the conversation to finish the knock, then continued his conversation with Wil in defense of Amy.

To me this is further evidence that Sheldon's brain focuses many things simultaneously, and he can switch back and forth in an instant.

So, just because Sheldon asked about The Flash does not mean he was not focused on Amy. He just made the mistake of vocalizing one of the things his brain was processing.

Like Penny said, this whole mess was created because he started talking. Amy is taking it the wrong way.

I don't think Lenny will get married in Vegas.  They'll either turn round and come straight back or go there, decide not to go ahead and have a few days of fun.  They can probably do with a bit of alone time together.

I would also prefer for Lenny not get involved in solving the issues with Shamy.  Sheldon and Amy are both unique characters and don't see things the way 'normal' couples like their friends do, so giving them advice on how to fix things would more then likely go over their heads.  This is something they need to work out for themselves because they know better then others what works for them.  Also it would be better for them in the long run to work it out for themselves.

I think Season 9 will more or less start from where Season 8 finished and while it may not be resolved by the end of the 1st episode, they will be together.  There is a quick way of doing it and I'm surprised no one has picked up on it.  I'm not going to tell you what it is though, because I'm using it in my fan fiction.  BTW would anyone like to be a beta for it?

Oh yeah.  Love to beta a good Shamy story.

Can I just say that I see a pattern?

Amy is rejected over and over again. I am just watching parts of season 5 and 6 and she gets rejected sooooo often that I am surprised she is even sticking around anymore.

If my sexuality got neglected by my boyfriend all of the time, I'd be devastated as well and take it very hard. Especially if I won't sure about my own life, character, sexuality, attractiveness you name it.

Which is why I think the writers have decided that it's come about time to address this issue finally and move them forward.  I think they've been dropping little hints that he's starting to think more in that direction, and then the finale (despite his Flash talk) makes it even more apparent.  It will be so nice for Amy once he reveals this to her.
