Yeah, I think they might take a couple of episodes to explore that because, let's face it, it's interesting. And I particularly liked how Steve mentioned Penny with regards to Amy. I frankly was as heartbroken for Penny as I was for Sheldon and Amy in this one, and the way the scene ended for Lenny... Kaley did a great job there, but man it was painful to watch Penny turn to look out of the window like that. I think it would be interesting to see Penny and Amy support each other through this, and I can handle an episode or two of Shamy "break" if it allows for interesting explorations of the friendships and how much all these people mean to each other.

What I hope we won't see is for this to be dragged on too long. Like I said, I find Shamy are at their best when they do their own thing, and not even talk romance. With only two seasons left to go, I don't want to waste half of one or more with them apart and barely sharing scenes together. We don't need romcom drama to make them interesting.

I'm hoping that at the beginning of season 9 while they are working things out we will see interaction between Amy and Mary Cooper

If i had a wish list for things I'd like to see in season 9, an Amy and Mary conversation would be in my top 3.

From the interview it sounds like this is going to last for more than just one episode. They want to explore how relationships shift and how people react going forward? This sounds like a priya arc without a priya.

I hope they don't try to put Amy with another man to test the waters or make Sheldon jealous. There is only him for her and her for him.

I hope their intention is to explore Sheldon and Amy's lives temporarily without each other to show how much they need to be together.

I would be surprised if they treated this "break" as the "breaks" most tv couples have. Also, Amy said she needs some time to think, she definitely did not seem in the mood to do anything but probably be left alone. I doubt the season will open with her "browsing". This couple is too fragile and vulnerable to deal with a proper break. I think if they're kept apart for longer than a couple of episodes we will see how they're coping and how their friends are helping them cope and how their friends are coping with it themselves. But once they get past that, there's not much to explore really. We know where Sheldon's head is at, all we need to wait for is for Amy to clear her head and approach him with a decision/resolution of sorts. And I doubt that's going to be "goodbye, Sheldon". Or they would have done it here and made it clear.

There's talk of Mayim possibly leaving the show??   Is that why Shamy is taking a break?

She's under contract for another 2 years I believe and Mayim has not stated she would be leaving the show, so she'll be playing Amy in season 9 and 10. :shy:  Mayim's personal life has nothing to do with the Amy character. She needed time off to deal with personal family issues, so that's why she wasn't in more scenes in the last three to four episodes of season 8.

Michy, you are great! LOve is the air!

Molaro says Mayim is not going !

Her boleved dad died during the taping of the last episodes, so she wasn´t there for the Mom´s episode, She has been nominated for the Criitics Televisión awards, and she quite fond of TBBT and she loves her work! She has a contract till season 10!

I was at the taping, and watching the show felt so different.  They majorly cut all the kissing, it was so short on the show, and much longer live.  The last scene seemed so dark at the taping.  It still feels quite upsetting.  Ooooh...going to be a long summer.  I don't think they will get them back together right away, but it will be a bit of a ramp up.  I just wished they could have ended the season in a happy moment.

Sheldon strikes me as someone who, despite his Sheldonisms, when he commits himself to someone or something, REALLY COMMITS himself to it. It's ironic how as much as the insertion of The Flash during a make out session is way out of line, it is a foreshadowing of how he wanted to commit to Amy in the long term. That making out while not on his spot is really telling how he's ready to meet Amy where she might be, even if it's away from where he is comfortable it. He told Leonard he will commit to watching The Flash even if the quality declines. He wanted to get Amy's opinion first if he should watch The Flash, which I think will heavily influence his decision and commitment making. That Skype conversation where he said "I've been thinking about relationships.." before Amy cut him off, he is testing the waters how Amy feels about the topic.

Sheldon caressing that ring box at the end though....................

I agree.  Mayim looked more like she had been crying, and a little more distraught.

Can we also talk about how tenderly sheldon was caressing the ring box at the end. i don't know why such a small, subtle thing speaks so much to me..don't know if anyone else feels the same. I think that was a brilliant choice jim made for sheldon to do, i don't know but to me it emphasises how precious the ring, amy and the desire to marry is to sheldon. He reallllly truly cares, a lot!!!

Prior to the episode airing, there was a lot of debate over Amy's dialogue following the kiss, saying it came out of nowhere and was wrong for her to say all she got in five years was a distracted make out session.
While the taping report and commentary from people who attended was very comprehensive (thanks again amazing people), there was never any mention of Sheldon saying "I'm wrestling with a big commitment issue here". I think that really brings what Amy's saying into perspective and justifies her anger, especially when you take into account some of the things that have happened in previous episodes.
Yes, they're both at fault for the situation they now find themselves in, and yes there's been a big lapse in practical communication between them, but Amy and Sheldon have equal cause to complain, and perhaps Amy slightly more so than him.

Well, my HUSBAND was bummed out for Shamy after watching the finale, which is definitely saying something. He's a huge fan of the show and likes Shamy but doesn't get invested the way I do. Kudos to Jim and Mayim for their great acting.

I wanted to point out something from the interviews Vonmar posted:

Glamour: That opening scene with Sheldon and Amy...I seriously thought I was seeing things!

Steve Molaro: [Laughs] This is probably their third or fourth time kissing. There’s been date nights where they’ve kissed before, but to see it like this is certainly a step forward I think.

Glamour: There seemed to be more passion behind this one.

Steve: It’s a tiny moment, but when Sheldon leans in to start again, I think that’s extremely telling. She stops him because of what he says about watching The Flash, but he was about to start it up again. It’s small, but it’s really interesting.

They are still invested in moving these two forward. If there are any doubts, take comfort in the above. Also, Molaro seems to be driving my point home that Sheldon is starting to wake up physically. He's going to tell Amy he desires her in season 9 and knock her off her feet!
