I love the fact that they're showing us that the Shamy relationship works in a special way and that Sheldon and Amy are happy with it.

OFFICIAL FOOD SHARING GUYS !! I love the fact Sheldon is doing this like it's the most natural thing in the world .Plus he's the one initiating it. Look at Season 1 and see the change. Wow

That's the cutest part. He knows her well and take care of her...People think that he's selfish and doesn't want to share his food and then BAM , he was just quietly saving her life,

Typical Shamy. Love it. koops and Carmeli already explained what

This episode is almost perfect, I can smell the air of S4-5 which were IMO the glory days of Shamy.

Only complaint : think about how many date night kisses we've missed...

I was super happy to read the report!  This episode sounds fantastic!  I am so pleased that Sheldon is happy and secure in the relationship and feels comfortable enough to even brag about it.  Lots of Shamy goodness :icon_razz:

I'm very happy with this episode as well, and I can't wait to see it play out on screen.  One of the biggest things for me was that it seems as though with the french fry and hamburger, Sheldon is getting more comfortable with Amy's "germs".  (He should be since they're kissing now, but still).  It's pretty funny how something that wouldn't even be worth thinking about twice for other couples is something monumental for Shamy.  Sheldon ate something OFF HER PLATE!!  And the reason she couldn't take a bite of his burger was because she's allergic and not because it's "icky".  Monumental. It also hints to me that Sheldon is getting more comfortable with physicality, which means good things for their progression.

Also, I love that whole thing with the relationship test.  Thanks to those who shared that info.  For them to score so high, that's incredible.  And I love that Sheldon thinks their relationship is superior to everyone else's.  As someone else pointed out, Sheldon is not a romantic, but that's super romantic in his own Sheldony way.  :girlinlove:

good point on the sharing food showing how comfortable he has become with her....which will hopefully lead to more intimacy....but not too fast (as it shouldn't be rushed).

I just have so many good feels from this episode (and the previous 2).

Sounds like a really nice episode, and shamy seems to be in this dynamic than resembles so much to season 4, but mixed with the love- yeah at this point, is love, no doubt- that floats out of them, as a couple. Someone mentioned that the way Sheldon is, serious and deadpan, sometimes has some type of romantic qualities, and after reading this report I have to agree. quoting what Jim said in a interview, he knows how to be romantic for her, in his own way, which is all the more significant. That phrase of not sharing his burger 'cus Amy is allergic to avocado, is wow! mind blowing for me because I didn't expect that from him, when I was reading and got to the part he says 'absolutely no' I rolled my eyes, like 'you're not helping me love you here, Sheldon' but then what he said felt so big.... I think that kiss in the train was like the frying pan hitting his head, that he needed so much, and then probably, Sheldon had the opportunity to really miss Amy during his trip; I believe all that combined, is causing for Sheldon to be more aware of Amy- the woman that is his girlfriend- and starting to act like an attentive boyfriend in his own way. As a last thought, I do consider that Shamy is in a firmer ground than Lenny, but think that has to do with the way Sheldon and Amy are, their personalities, more than something related to couples dynamics, but that's just a thought... anyway wrapping up, this season is starting soooo well, I don't know if I should be excited or scared for what's there to come lol

I think Lenny and Shamy are on two very different grounds though (not that one is neccessarily stronger than the other...just completely opposite)

I think Shamy have of course much much more in common with each other.  And their mutal love of knowledge and ability to think similar to each other created their "love".  Their struggle will always be more the push/pull of romance/intimacy.

Lenny's relationship grew from attraction and support for each other.  They "grew" to find similarities but still struggle with this.  I think they question more if they are meant to be.

I do really enjoy the differences between the main two relationships.  Another reason I always wanted a double date episode and we got one!!!

The food thing is nothing new, guys.

S05E15: "I saved you a dumpling."

S06E07: "You know, when we buy the Planter’s deluxe mix, she eats all the Brazil nuts so I don’t have to look at them."

S07E04: They had only one bowl of pop corn when they were watching Raiders.

Not saying it's not nice to have one more instance of Shamy sharing food, but it's something they've been doing for years and the OCD asshole in me feels like bringing it up.  :icon_razz:

agreed but I feel this was put in there more to show the viewers as the popcorn/planters mix/etc weren't as obvious, you know.

Also, the fact that he was ok sharing "his" meal but she was allergic.....thats not a communal situation like nuts or popcorn.  And the dumpling was hers......it was the first time "selfish" Sheldon changed...

Good point. Those instances seem far more subtle to me though, especially since just saving her a dumpling doesn't mean either of them eating off each other's plate, and they don't necessarily have to eat the nuts out of the can with their fingers. Good catch on the popcorn though. I guess I didn't notice that one.

Even so, the fact that Sheldon didn't let her bite into his burger based on allergies and NOT because of germs seems pretty significant. There's a difference between her putting her mouth directly on his food and sharing popcorn, where she was probably careful not to lick her fingers, etc. Just saying.

But either way, it's nice to see that he's comfortable enough with her to share food (whether it's a fry off her plate, popcorn or whatever).

I think an actual bite out of his hamburger would count as a giant leapfor Sheldon-kind. I would let my family kiss me on the lips the idea of eating something they've taken a bite out of grosses me out. My husband is the only person on earth i can do that with without first using a knife to excise the offending portion (while simultaneously offending whatever friend took the bite).

Another thing I wanted to point out.  The writers really do know what we want.  I've seen evidence of it at the premiere taping with Sheldon's coitus line, in their Comic Con panel, and even in the magazine articles that have come out.  They also know how darn special those moments of progression are to us, and they want to make us wait.  It's like they're forcing us to savor our steak dinner instead of gobbling it down and then regretting it.  More kisses (and other things) will come, but if they made it happen all the time (like with Leonard and Penny) it would stop being special.  With this particular couple, they want everything to mean so much, and I think that's why so many of us love them.  So I really do believe, we'll be seeing some good things this season, they're just going to drag them out like usual.

Also, with this food thing.  The writers seemed to be making a point this time of showing us that they're sharing food, especially since Leonard makes the comment he does.  It's like "No, see, we CAN and DO share food."  Amy's just allergic to this particular one.

This. Sounds. Delightful.

koops, you beautiful bastard,  you looked up the paper!

I don't think that I can contribute anything more to the discussion. I am so thrilled that the show has remembered what we love about this couple: its technical, clinical, curiosity-driven, cerebral approach to love, sex and coupling, as well as its glorious, sideways competitiveness!

And '8.2. Trust me, you're happy'?! Is this the first time that I've greeted a mansplanation with a joyous chuckle? Yes, I think it might be.

exactly!!!  The writers know people are vested in their relationship and will drag it out for as long as possible (and I'm ok with that---at least for the final frontier).

They give us crumbs and we soak them up....but because we only get crumbs...this helps keep both of them extremely IC.

Their uniqueness makes them so intriguing!!  I have NEVER witnessed a couple like this on TV and that is why I ship them so hard.

I mean even Lenny took 7 years to get engaged so yea....they want us to wait it out!!!

I am so relieved Chrismo showed up over on the other thread or I would not have known I was disappointed!

Oh what... me and dancing Baby Groot still dancing... Good times are still rolling. And it's a good thing my cube is secluded... It's going to be a race to see who can digest that complicated ass inventory and write a fan fiction.

When has Sheldon ever ordered avocado on his hamburger? Does this bother anyone else? Just me then.

Anyhoo, I guess I am cautiously optimistic after this episode. I loved the vulnerable Sheldon of the first episode. In this episode, the relationship test results seem like yet another way for Sheldon to lord his superiority over everyone else (except for Amy, so I guess that's good).

But the french fry sharing is super cute. And I love the made-up date nights. It may be in the RA, but Sheldon isn't putting up much of a fight. It really seems like his way of apologizing for leaving, but hiding behind the terms of the RA so that he doesn't seem too hippy dippy.

I assume with all the extra date night kissing, the next time it is shown on screen, they will have improved at it ;)
