I am so relieved Chrismo showed up over on the other thread or I would not have known I was disappointed!

Oh what... me and dancing Baby Groot still dancing... Good times are still rolling. And it's a good thing my cube is secluded... It's going to be a race to see who can digest that complicated ass inventory and write a fan fiction.

Or complete a perfectly good one......

Notchinc... there are 7 versions of the next chapter of that bitch... and two of them are so weird I think my new migraine medicine might have LSD in it... I've almost posted them just to see what would happen. I can... just realize once I do... Amy will effectively have an origin story.

She's not Wolverine...

For me it all changed with the last scene with them.. Amy telling sheldon It would make her happy if he said things like that. And Sheldon completely missing the point and referring back to the quiz and then telling her she is happy when she clearly was looking for more affection.

Im not going to tell you guys how to feel, but for us it seemed like the brakes were slammed on and here we were again... Back to how it was before.

No offense, but I think you missed the meaning of that line. He's not saying that she should be happy because they scored an 8.2 - he's saying that the fact that they scored an 8.2 shows how happy she is, with or without the sappy romantic stuff, and that at the end of the day, she doesn't really want Lenny's sappy romance.

The 8.2 isn't a reason for Amy to be happy - it's the proof that she is.

ITA Marina,

Also, the sappy romantic stuff wouldn't be as real for Sheldon as the 8.2 is. As real as not killing her with avocado. But that 8.2 probably really gave him a charge. He adores that they could do so well together. Being quantifiable better than other people is favorite thing. Doing that with her has to be super romantic for him.

The things that he gave her through the episode were things that she really needs to be happy. The gooey stuff between Leonard and Penny isn't really what she needs. If she got it, it would probably squick her out after a few minutes. It would almost be worth while for him to try it just to show her how much it would squick her out.

Requoting for emphasis. Especially the bold part. That really is it in a nutshell. And it's great. I don't personally see Amy as always being right in her demands. I think, like Chalice said, she thinks she wants certain things but she would get fed up really quickly with him being all sappy (and, hello, cafeteria scene in 7x05 anyone?).

Not to mention Sheldon IS very sweet to her when he wants to and tells her things that make her so happy (6x16, 6x23, 7x05). He might not be as conventionally lovey dovey as Leonard and Howard, but I think it's very unfair to say he can't say sweet things to her.

I think a recognized scientific indicator telling sheldon they do well together as a couple (rather than a matchmaking site with questionable algorithms) would also make sheldon feel more comfortable becoming more intimate with amy without feeling like he has to compromise his own identity in the process.

Pretty much everything has been said and it's hard to come up with anything new, really, but I just wanted to share my excitement for this episode. It's incredible to think that I was so completely disillusioned with the state of the show at the end of S7 and they made me change my mind with just three episodes – and what episodes! It's like a Christmas miracle out of season! :p (Too hippy dippy?)

I am so happy and satisfied with this. The couple of weirdos is back in town!

I think this episode highlighted the differences between the two couples and their mechanics quite well. In regards to Shamy, knowing that Sheldon is bragging about a (very) high score is great, knowing that he's making up for the Date Nights he missed is even more great, getting all these great comments from Amy about the "even better than hot, binding" Relationship Agreement, the way they are so in synch and share hours of comfortable silence together doing parallel activities (and better than toddlers!), the fries, the avocado, I'm rambling, send help...

That 8.2 shows just why they are the Shamy and what makes them the couple they are and - most importantly - why they are a happy couple. Amy may still desire conventional romance as something to try because others do it/to give it a try, but their score - and this whole episode, and others before - show just how much of a perfect match they are despite the underlying physical issues, which I really don't mind are set aside for a bit. On that note: 1) hooray, not everything revolves around physical contact and sex and 2) there's always time to make things better without turning a whole relationship sour. Not to mention, they are indeed kissing a lot these days. ;)

So... I'm sure we'll have a Shamy focused plot soon and sweet things are probably in store for sweeps or whatever, but all in all... not bad. At all. This ship is sailing strong. :)

(I am becoming a hippie. It's all Shamy's fault.)

very true!  Din't think of this, but with actual sorta "scientific proof" that they are well matched could help him becom more intimate with her down the road.

Personally, I saw the last line as nothing but positive. He is basically saying in the comedic Sheldon way, hey don't look at them. Don't look outside of us. We scored high, look at the scientific numbers to prove it, and it shows that WE are happy. I think it is great :)

I am sure Amy made some face of discomfort after he said it, but that's only because I see that as her mini arc. She will one day learn that what others do doesn't matter, and just look at what she has with Sheldon.

And, although we may not see it all, date nights always end with kisses! And we will see more of that, just not with this episode. The kisses will mean more too as we see more revealing of their hearts in the relationship.

Firstly thanks to Michy and kazzie you guys rock and you know it!!!

@Rose your analysis wins all the awards today!!! Every single thing you said!! Just wanted to stress something (that probably others mentioned too I missed some comments). One reason I absolutely adore the avocado line is that the writers were really sincere when the said it's hard to see Amy being put down(okay that's probably phrased wrong but you remember what I am refering to right?). They went like that "you think it's funny that Sheldon says something insulting/hurtful to Amy??? Well guess again!!!!" I feel like the burned the joke and that it was pointed out that this is not the joke anymore. Of course I won't keep my hopes up and actually believe that they will never pull another "haha joke Amy is funny" again but it was nice to see!!

Also I wanted to say that this is evident also by Sheldon trying to make double date count as two dates cause obviously he hates dates buuuuut then you know he just thought Lenny was hard work or whatever point Amy made

THAT'S why he counted it as two dates.

Also I will take kazzies worries into account but I will wait to see for myself. But I love Marina's reading on it.

Great Shamy episodes I am ready to be blown away (know I just need a boyfriend/girlfriend sing along night and I will be happier than happy).

Also I think a while bad some of us mentioned a Shamy/Lenny double date when they compare their relationships. Did that really happen or was it my headcannon?? I think someone mentioned it and I also made that thought before. Anyway it was kinda cool.

koops, Marina, spot-on. This episode also thrills me, because it's such a thoughtful take on not only the drivers of a successful relationship, but how people like Sheldon and Amy would approach such a relationship. And the inference seems to be: you have to find what works for you and do what feel right for you, rather than whatever the conventional marker is.

Something that bothered me so much about Seasons Six and Seven was not only the hard left turn that Amy took into desiring conventional romance (and criminy, I mean conventional), but also that the show seemed to implicitly condone or validate Amy's desires, while simultaneously finding it hilarious for her to be continually denied. This episode is saying to Amy: examine your desires. Sheldon is exasperating and he is not perfect, but do you want conventional romance with him, or it it merely something that you think that you want? This episode seems to be treating Amy as an actual person, rather than a collection of Sitcom Wife/Ugly Duckling tropes. My God, people.

yes, I've said it before and I'll say it again.....Sheldon has always been more mature on certain elements of their relationship.  Amy is the dreamer in the couple.  Her fantasies, what she thinks is normal, etc....She is always desperate to "fit in"

Sometimes he has a better grasp on what they really are, and case in point was the comment "we got an 8.2, you are happy" implying exactly what people said here....What more do you need to prove that we are happy....

Its just like the living together....he knows what a big step it is (he doesn't see them as roomates, but as a couple living together) where she is missing the mark on that one.

Now she does deserve romance and all...and in due time she'll get her declaration (I can feel it coming this season without a doubt now) BUT she also has to realize that she is in love with a not traditional romantic guy....and he is at his best in moments like last night's episode.  If she could take off the rose-colored glasses and take things for face value, she could see how much he really does truely care for her and love her (she's not there yet...but she will get there).

From what I am reading, they are much more on a united front than the later half of season 7...implying that Sheldon's trip did help them out overall.  He obviously missed her, she spoke up and said she was angry, he is "making up" for it, so all and all Season 8 will probably be a big season for the Shamy.

I died when shamy mentioned about laming up for the date nights he missed.

I can't tell you guys how to feel about it. But I was like 'Really?' with that line.. I suppose you need to see it before judging.

Thanks for the kind words guys!

Absolutely agree with all of the above. As for the rose coloured glasses, Amy needs to trade hers in for Sheldon coloured glasses...for him, this is his way of showing her just how much he cares to the best of his current ability. And I am very impressed that he is making up the missed dates (which were apparently so much more frequent than any of us thought) cause that means he has taken to heart that his leaving did cause her distress. He's acknowledging that there is something he needs to make amends for. This is progress...yes he's still a bit selfish at times but he's obviously learning and trying. There are just so many things I love about the essence of this episode.

Agggh! just the thought of those date night kisses we don't get to see is driving me insane! Oh well... I guess some things are sexier when left to the imagination. [emoji6]

maybe..just maybe.. the next time we see them kiss it will be more "in-depth" ;)  since they have been kissing regularly after each date night ( even though as you stated...we don't get to see)
