HA! I know right! I legit had a panic attack when he RT me yesterday. Ive gained like 30 followers since :O!

 

I woke up not long ago and scrolled through my notifications and noticed another reply from Bill.. Crazy! I have to try and Animal Style now!

 

Oh FYI girls.. I tried to get Bills attention at the end of the taping to grill him about his spoiler promise.. but the AU lady wouldn't let me call him over >_<

Kazzie, now that you and Bill are Twitter buddies, remind him about his promise and that you'll be waiting to collect next week!

From what I am reading, they are much more on a united front than the later half of season 7...implying that Sheldon's trip did help them out overall.  He obviously missed her, she spoke up and said she was angry, he is "making up" for it, so all and all Season 8 will probably be a big season for the Shamy.  

 

yes, I can see that he's "making up" because he wants to and not because he's contractualy obligated to. Because we know that if Sheldon really doesn't want to do something, he'll turn the RA in his favour ( just like when he refused to visit Amy's family in S5) and say no. Then it's obvious he will say that he's doing it because of the RA. Can you imagine him telling the truth to Leonard and says he missed his girlfriend and want to spend extended time with her ? of course not. That's just Sheldon being Sheldon. And if you take the fact that he's trying to restore the missing date nights with Amy, It's logic to think that he's also making up for the non-date night time spend together.... hoo !

 

@kazzie : If that can make you feel better, just take into account that the writers almost ALWAYS give us a shitty mood breaker line because normal viewers (the majority who don't really care and just want to laugh) find it's funny. But overall, and thank God for that, there is progress ! and good progress for the Shamy. 

 

eta : Sometimes I rewatch an episode and skip a bothering line and then, guess what ? the episode is perfect !

I do like the idea of Sheldon reluctantly agreeing to extra dates because he deserves to be punished is no different in the end from amy reluctantly agreering to a spanking.

S06E07: "You know, when we buy the Planter’s deluxe mix, she eats all the Brazil nuts so I don’t have to look at them."

S07E04: They had only one bowl of pop corn when they were watching Raiders.

 

Not saying it's not nice to have one more instance of Shamy sharing food, but it's something they've been doing for years and the OCD asshole in me feels like bringing it up. 

Does anyone one remember the war he started with Penny when she touched one if his onion rings? Taking food off of a plate is a giant step for him! Taking her food probably is has germy to him has sticking his tongue in her mouth.

Notchinc... there are 7 versions of the next chapter of that bitch... and two of them are so weird I think my new migraine medicine might have LSD in it... I've almost posted them just to see what would happen. I can... just realize once I do... Amy will effectively have an origin story.

As long as you are maintaining an effort, healthy and enjoying the story. I'm cool. It is a great story.

" appreciate them" That was some more advice Sheldon received from Professor Proton. Maybe that is what Sheldon is doing in regards to Amy. I'm also convinced that he did think about what the psychic told him. After 47 days of being away, he had plenty of time to mull things over in his head . I think this will be a good season in terms of personal growth ..for all.

 

 

oh, and Amy thought the RA was romantic from day 1 and i'm glad that it was brought up in this episode. 

 

And yes, Sheldon is a scientist ..he believes in facts & figures so does Amy- the difference being that Amy has read too many romantic novels and has a certain picture in her head. That is why he is thrilled with their score. It proves that they are completely compatible and that is what Sheldon needs to feel secure in this relationship. HE NEEDS NUMBERS, PROOF & DOCUMENTS (NOW)... BUT THAT DOESN'T MEAN THAT HE WILL ALWAYS NEED THEM TO VALIDATE HIS FEELINGS ...  

 

 

*and Amy... well, i understand that she might want Sheldon to look at her in a certain way (which he has on several occasions) or whatever she thinks someone in a relationship should do BUT she really shouldn't compare what is romantic for others with her own relationship with Sheldon.  I honestly feel that there has been a slight shift in Sheldon's attitude towards the better so far but it's still baby steps for him. I'm perfectly ok with the line, "trust me, you're happy" because it sounds that he is being honest rather than mocking her. Just my opinion of course

Firstly thanks to Michy and kazzie you guys rock and you know it!!!

@Rose your analysis wins all the awards today!!! Every single thing you said!! Just wanted to stress something (that probably others mentioned too I missed some comments). One reason I absolutely adore the avocado line is that the writers were really sincere when the said it's hard to see Amy being put down(okay that's probably phrased wrong but you remember what I am refering to right?). They went like that "you think it's funny that Sheldon says something insulting/hurtful to Amy??? Well guess again!!!!" I feel like the burned the joke and that it was pointed out that this is not the joke anymore. Of course I won't keep my hopes up and actually believe that they will never pull another "haha joke Amy is funny" again but it was nice to see!!

Also I wanted to say that this is evident also by Sheldon trying to make double date count as two dates cause obviously he hates dates buuuuut then you know he just thought Lenny was hard work or whatever point Amy made

THAT'S why he counted it as two dates.

 

That bold part! Yes! I think the writers need do do more of this kind of jokes. Way too often the joke used to be about Sheldon saying something sweet and the joke being him taking it back with the other hand. This, instead, it's Sheldon saying something mean and then making up for it on the next sentence by revealing good intentions that surprise. THAT's the kind of jokes you need to write! The kind of jokes that make people laugh and at the same time show why these two are together. I'm not going to get my hopes too high, because it's only a couple of episodes, but I am really keeping all my fingers, toes and internal organs crossed that they will keep using this kind of template throughout the season and not fall back onto the old stuff.

 

As for Sheldon hating dates, we know he does. Getting dressed up and going to restaurants it's something he hates. But he does it for her, and that's wonderful. Just like she sits through countless space movies for him. It's a give and take that needs to be emphasized more and it's what that test they took was all about: how the partner influences you in everyday life. But we know that they enjoy spending time together, Sheldon said so himself! It's not that he doesn't enjoy spending time together, he just doesn't enjoy the fancy dates, and now we have quotes to prove it too.

There was a few good "eye coitus" moments from Shamy in this ep I think you all will enjoy when you see it. A lot of it happens when they talk about how great their relationship is. I remember it happening at least twice I think.

I'm kinda really late to the party but I wanted to share my opinion on this episode. So I really have been looking at things in a more "do not for the life of you get your hopes up anymore cause it'll hurt more when (if) you're disappointed", and with this episode I kept repeating that to myself over and over again cause it just sounds too good to be true.

When I read the fries part and the "she's allergic to avocado" part I was like "awww.... aaaaawwww! ..... No no no no no he's probably gonna say some predictable lame joke that'll suck the sweetness out of it, you'll see, just read the next line". And it all immediately followed the epic "are you so jealous of our relationship that you want Amy to die?" And it just blew my mind. I can't get over it. Where's the offensive/insensitive "joke" I'm supposed to squint my eyes at while everyone in the audience finds it funny? Could it be the beginning of the end to those awful "jokes"?

One of the problems I had the last couple of seasons is how much they had normalized Amy to the point of taking away that quirky side of her that made Sheldon and Amy a team. We would see her roll her eyes a lot and even join the incredulous looks the group would give Sheldon after he said something Sheldony. So when she said she didn't enjoy his lecture and neither did the waiter I kinda had mixed feelings 1) yay she's speaking her mind and not walking on eggshells! 2) ugh she used to enjoy weird facts like that and now here they go teaming her up with the common people (the waiter, the gang etc.) So okay whatever UNTIL she followed up on Sheldon's little lecture to Lenny and was explaining how "the motion passed with a two to zero margin". It's like, she just has topics that she enjoys more than others and the history of Cornwall is not one of them! But she still loves to explain random facts that others (the commons) don't really care about! Ha ha! 'Original Amy' back with some character info! Like wowbanger said, "they treat her like a real person" in this episode with her own likes and dislikes and I love it.

And finally that scene at the pub where Amy says they can count this as two dates cause lenny are a handful. So so so 'Original Amy' finding them tedious. And his little smile after that ... It just has them on the same page and it's really great.

The beginning of last season I was really excited after her, "you wanna take the bus to work?" And said "hell yea they're bringing her bluntness back" and they kinda didn't so that's why I don't want to take the first few episodes to heart because they can very much go back to that awful dynamic that made my achy breaky heart hurt so I'm still holding on to my low expectations until I can safely say that they're back to being the couple of weirdos that speak the same made up language. So far it's looking good though.

I adore this quote in your siggy!  Quick nerd fact about myself: I used to be huge into Soap Operas and go to fan conventions in NYC. You know that couples in soaps are always breaking up to get back together to break up again. I was talking to one actor and he said that when you work with someone there is a part of you that attaches to this fake relationship, and you will actually start feeling jealous when you're not working with that other person.  To me that quote from Jim says a lot, which is no big surprise he is like Shamy #1 shipper  I adore that about him ♥

Now I wonder how did Sheldon know Amy is avocado allergic. Maybe once Sheldon ate an avocado then kissed Amy and got her allergic. Sheldon panicked and call the ambulance. My imagination is out of control, someone please stop me!

 

I had a very similar thought. Mostly I was just lamenting that if Sheldon had avocado on his burger, he was not going to be kissing Amy that night. :'( 

 

I am happy that Sheldon and Amy are back on the same page with their relationship instead of the tug of war we've been seeing in the most recent seasons. I was sad for Amy in that final moment because of the way she looked at Leonard and Penny. Like all that superior haughtiness she had all night came to a screeching halt when she realized that Lenny have something that she and Sheldon don't. But I've spoken to death on that in the S8 discussion thread if anyone is curious so I won't repeat it all here. x D At the end of the day, it seems like everyone is really excited about the episode and that line (a huge shock to me) so I won't be a wet blanket any more with my opinions. I'll just keep them to myself and see how the rest of the season goes.  

 

Something else that I think is interesting and part of why I think the audience gasped at the allergy line: at first we definitely thought Sheldon was being selfish. And then at least for me, when he said, "This burger has avocado," I thought the joke was going to be that it's so delicious and special that he wouldn't share it with anyone, or something equally stupid and Sheldon-like. So I was prepared to roll my eyes down the street. And then he said she was allergic and the audience was like WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT. So that was fun. x D And then on the second take, no one really reacted until after the "do you want Amy to die?" line, where we all laughed. So I'm curious to see if they use the gasp in the edit. Kazzie can tell us next week when she sees the playback!

MichyGeary, great post in the S8 thread. Thanks for the awesome report! You pretty much summed up why I remain cautiously optimistic and not as over the moon as some people about this episode. Amy likes their unconventional relationship, but she DOES want traditional romance sometimes--and not just because that's what society expects. I thought that was the whole point of the train kiss. Sheldon was mocking traditional romance--trying to show her how foolish it was and what she thinks she wants isn't what she actually wants. Then BAM, the kiss changed everything. 

 

But it's early in the season, and I remain optimistic about keeping the unconventional relationship of the mind but throwing in some conventional romance along the way. As always, I need to see how it plays out on screen before I can really say whether I liked it or not.

WOW That will be cute! Shamy's eye coitus is one of my favorite part of this quirky relationship. Lucky for Amy that she always wearing glasses as protection, or else her pupils ara gonna have a baby
