I wonder if they give her some type of inserts or a wig. Does anyone know of them doing that to another actress who cut her hair short?

I'm still not decided if I think Penny should have short hair, I going to wait and see how the show hands it before I comment.

3ku11, I think you touched on a good point in saying that there is perhaps a sense of jealousy from Bernadette towards Penny.  I wonder if she is jealous regarding on how Leonard treats Penny, how they are honest to each other, show the love for each other.  A lot of times looks like Bernadette is taking care of a child in Howard, so perhaps deep down she wishes it was Leonard instead.  Just a theory perhaps with no basis.  Funny thing is if the other couples have problems, they go running to Lenny for comfort.  Lenny are the most mature of all the gang.  Regarding living arrangements, if Leonard moves to Penny's, where is  he going to put all his vitamins? she has small bathroom cabinet.

Season 1 Kaley/Penny, she kind had short hair too.

 

Yeah S1 Penny had medium length hair, not like Kaley has now, I hope the writer's don't ask Kaley to grow her hair out, not that you can force your hair to grow out or anything. Yeah I don't think Bernadette should feel jealous in any sense, and like you said their is no basis to go on. But she does make subtle lines like "Oh now Penny is not here we may get hit on" Or "Yeah if that's the case you would be the oldest one here" (in response to Penny's line about bear with me going off my recollection here haha, that age is not defined by how much sex you have, think I got that wrong but you catch my drift haha. I think Bernadette does tend to project her insecurities and hang ups onto Penny, I mean in S3 Bernadette and Leonard clearly showed they have a lot in common, I mean to be honest if Penny didn't exist nor did Howard, I could see Leonard and Bernadette as a couple. I just don't see the logic that Penny is supposed to not feel aggrieved, that her "Friends" told her they are sick of her incessant moaning about her acting, well excuse me but it is not so easy for some who don't have a reliable career field. But then Penny is susposed to be their for Amy or Bernadette, I think the writer's have shown a lot of friction occurring that maybe explored in S8. Yeah but it would be cool if S8 began with Lenny after spending the hols in 4a, they were having a engagement party, writer's making it clear it is Lenny againgst the world.

The only bonding with the girls that happened in S7 was bernadette & amy. Every other scenes with the girls & penny was them having a dig at penny or her lack of education and not having any money. Especially bernadette. Penny was amazing this season, she's made so much progress & growth, and not only did she have to deal with issues regarding her career & personal life, she was also a big help to Sheldon in his crisis. This is one of the many qualities that leonard sees in penny.

Yeah that is my point re Amy and Bernadette bonding. The writer's showed them getting closer, and also showed them drifting apart from Penny this season. And I don't think the dig's at Penny were done intentionally, but they were mean spirited. That is also a quality that Leonard see's in Penny, despite Physically being very different people, Penny does thing's for Leonard and his friend's that most chicks like her woulden't (Do you think Alicia, that chick who moved up stairs in S2, would go help the guys and drive them to kick some guy in the cahonies, just because he stole Sheldon's gaming acc nooo). That's a quality that Leonard appreciates, her compassion for others in need.

There has been some friction building between Penny and Bernadette for some time and with Amy too, but I hope Penny and girls do not a have big exploding argument to the point of hurting their friendship.  Leonard, Howard and Sheldon too will make sure that does not happen.  You have a point, If Penny and Howard did not exist, then Leonard and Bernadette could have been a couple; but then there would be no TBBT.  hahaha.   like E=mc2 or  TBBT=LP[s/A}^r(H/B).  With Leonard and Bernadette, I recall the episode where Leonard showed interest on Bernadette's work and drove Howard and Penny mad with jealousy, one of the best episodes of TBBT for me.  The only time I saw Leonard and Bernadette kind of bond.

I couldn't have put that any better. Leonard was so OOC in that scene. Just like penny was in the pillow gate arc, with amy going metal on leonard. Must admit penny was so hot as kick ass penny.

Well without Leonard their would be no Howard. Then without Penny their would be no Leonard and Penny. Without Leonard their would be no pact between Leonard and Howard, that if either of us got a hot gf, then they would set up the looser lol with the hot gf mate. So then no Lenny no Bernadette, no Bernadette no Howard or Bernadette. So it's true when you think The Big Bang Theory is more then just a name to the show. Then this season we see Bernadette and Leonard bond, but the only bonding your seeling is, Leonard bonding with Bernadette's iron fist haha. I do too remember Penny's elaborate line about String Theory was it? Quantum Physics? Or Experimental Physics? That shocked everyone one, especially Leonard haha, prob my all time favourite Penny moment.

Penny could have had any guy she wanted, but I think in many ways in Leonard she found the guy of her dreams, her prince charming.  I agree 3ku11, S7 showed Amy and Bernadette bonding more and drifting apart from Penny.  S7 showed a whole new direction for Lenny, thank god.  All of us Lenny's fans could  not wait for Penny to say Yes to Leonard's marriage proposal.

I agree, lets get off Bernadette/Howard discussion.

Yeah, this thread is for looking at Leonard and Penny's relationship.  How the others met, or how one (Amy, Bernadette) affect their partners (Howard, Sheldon) should go into their threads (if supportive) or the discussion threads if not supportive.  It's OK to mention how other characters affect Leonard and/or Penny.  But don't analyze how the other characters arrive at their behavior in this thread.

They must exist at the sports bar but we don't see them. Cue opportunities for Penny watching her capable boyfriend fence with the Kurts and the Whores of Omaha. Or even a new "Biff Tannen" type. And Leonard could be portrayed as coming off well from some these encounters. He is not incapable.

Well we know in S1 she still had her independence, when she went out with the girls you saw. And in S3 we saw a lot of her guy friend's watching football, who had little-zero communication with Penny at all (conscious effort from the writer's not to put the Lenny fandom on side, although their girlfriends were all their drinking in the kitchen). That's what I miss seeing Penny's social circle, it was something separate, seeing Leonard the egghead who knows absoloutely everything, look absoloutley clueless and lost in a social setting made Penny look "smart". And in S7 we found out Leonard and Penny do go to football games, and hang out with her friends. I always like it when they subtley reference Penny has friends her kind, as her closest friend's are her support network, it's nice to know she has friends outside the group, that she has more in common with. But of course you have mostly seen her being co-dependent on Leonard. So be cool too see Penny mix with the appropriate film types, I think Leonard would be more confident and comfortable around sci-fi types, he could as some said share his thoughts on Star Wars, maybe they could incorporate the new Star Wars remake, get Penny into the film haha. So guess I would like too see explored, is Leonard attempt or at the very least, bring Penny's "friends" back into the show, and see them go to a sport's bar, and I think Leonard is very capable of at least mingling. All Penny finds friend's like her, and finds her acting community, and hangs out with film types, within the sci-fi/fantasy genre. This way it well give her perspective, and bring balance to her life. That's not just hanging out at Leonard and Sheldon's all the time and sponging off them haha, I mean Penny get a job you freeloader! Anyway I would love too see that incorporated into Leonard and Penny's relationship in S8.

Penny will always have friends outside of the realm. No matter how much she hangs out with the gang, she will never forget her roots. I am sure it will be refreshing for her to get out of nerdsville oñce in awhile.

You really need to push your self, so if she had a Twitter Account Bio: Aspiring Actress, former waitress at the CheeseCake Factory, Star of the low budget sci-fi flick Serial Apist. At that point Serial Apist has become a cult hit, so when she creates a twitter account, all the online geeks well follow her "I love you Penny!". Followers: 1 (Leonard).

Seven years ago for Kurt. A long time between validations. And Zac was like a deer in the headlights or a fish in a barrel. No wonder Penny married him, he's adorable. And a similar distance from Penny as Leonard, except the other way on the scale. Heheheh

It probably won't happen because they are such a low key couple but if they had an engagement party there would be a chance to bring in friends of BOTH Leonard and Penny ( if they exist) from outside the group of 7/9 ( if you count Emily and Stuart). Sort of a homage to the S1 Halloween and Leonard's Birthday parties and all those friends that turned up never to be seen again. The girls who haven't seen Leonard since his "hobbit" days could show interest in the new improved Leonard with biceps and cop Penny's best hands off my man look. Alternatively a David Underhill type from the North Sea trip could perv at the Serial Apeist star - does Penny or Leonard tell the guy to back off?

It would be funny if they had the engagement party at the Cheesecake Factory, maybe Penny's ex-work friends throwing it, and Kurt crashed it leading to another Kurt and Leonard confrontation, only this time Leonard has people like Zack having his back and drive Kurt off in defeat.
