I would expect Penny to be a little more interested in Leonard's day to day life too, to the point of even being a little protective of him. There should be more scenes of Sheldon facing Leonard and Penny, instead of just Leonard, in disputes. Season 8 should start with them in the honeymoon phase of being engaged, so the should be sickenly sweet to each other, which could be very funny, with their friends making jokes about them.

Yes. Everything up a notch. Is what one hopes for. But life can suck. And art reflects. Wishing with you. Roll on s8!!!!

5Mississippis and Strawberry Pop Tart Fan, i love your posts. The engagement and " you know I m the one with, you know I love you " are my favorite episodes of all time. Cannot wait for the next three seasons for more Lenny. All of us Lenny's fans had to wait seven long years for Penny to say yes to Leonard in marriage, but it was worth the wait in gold.

To us lenny fans, and I blame sitcoms for this unrealistic expectations of romance that we have for lenny and we can only hope the writers give us for S8 what we want, probably not going to get all our wishes and peeps are still going to knock lenny, but we don't care what other's think or say about lenny having no chemistry, blah, blah, blah... But there has been wonderfully romantic moments in our favourite couple this season and those moments maybe over the top to some like Leonard buying penny the car and penny's box of Leonard's sweet items. Etc. We love all those moments anyway, and it lead to what we have all been waiting for. Lenny engaged. and its feels so good...love all the sweetest things they have done for each other as well, and all for love.

I can imagine S8 beginning and as SRAM said Lenny are in the honeymoon phase, and sickenly sweet kissin, hand holding e.t.c. Every time say Bernie and Howard walk into 4a they are all over each other, and catch them and like "Oh come on! this again" haha. I would like too see Penny get involved in his every day life, and get over protective, and start snapping at people and then Sheldon returns "Oh look who it is the great pretender!"" lol. Goes way over the top, Leonard: Honey its okay Penny: No they are going to start appreciating you from now on. You never see Penny just go all Hulk on everyone in Leonards defense.

I was just picturing a funny scene, the gangs all about to eat take out and Penny is the last one there. She walks in, goes straight to Leonard and gets in his lap, kissing his cheek and giving him a nuzzle. Howard tells them 'Get a Room' and Bernadette goes 'Oh Howie' then gets in his lap and kisses him. Emily, sitting on the floor with Raj, leans on him, while wrapping her arms around his neck to kiss him. Amy looks up at Sheldon questioning and Sheldon gives her a worried look 'If you do that I'll scream' resulting in Amy just frowning.

I would just like a few episodes of mushy Penny at least till the newness of being engaged wears off.

And yeah I know I'm acting like a fan girl.

Amen Tonstar17 and awesome one SRAM, that would be a great scene.  But hopefully the writers spread the Lenny mushy stuff during the three seasons, Lenny keep their spice on.  After all the alpha male and queen bee have to lead by example.

I hope Penny and the girls go with the guys a Star Trek convention, comic book convention.  Leonard and the guys would get reach nerd nirvana.

Why do they always pick on lenny, even now engaged and they still wouldn't leave them alone. One season of happiness is not a lot to ask for. Hell, give em half a season to enjoy themselves.

Depending on how they handle it, Penny earning the same amount or a little bit more money

than Leonard might not be such a bad thing (it's what most couples grapple with). You have to keep in mind they won't be getting married

for a while. So fighting over money is the obvious trope to mine first, before they even get into

the wedding planning things (end of season 9 I'd expect for that).

 

Anyway it'll give Sheldon, Raj and Howard plenty of jokes about Leonard free loading off Penny.

Can't have Lenny without a bit of contrived drama on the writers part.

What I don't get is why would they fight over money, or are they hinting that leonard will move into penny's and fight over who earns the most and so should contribute more. I don't know, maybe I am reading too much into this.

There was a press tour, where it was revealed that Penny will have a career change next season.

Tensor this just listed as a Leonard and Penny discussion thread, not an appreciation thread, so shouldn't all discussions about Leonard and Penny in season 8 be allowed even if it is a gripe about how TPTB are treating the couple in season 8?

No, all types of discussions are not allowed.  Remember, this is a ship zone.  The rules were updated (both the full forum and the ship zone rules) back in June.  The rules state posts in ship zones should be supportive of the ship.  None of the posts have crossed the line, as of yet, just making sure that everyone is aware of the new rules.   It hasn't been a problem as of yet, simply because we didn't know all that much, that changed a bit today.  The main purpose is to prevent the thread from descending into squabbles or simply end up as bashing ship zone couples.

I could really see this job as a source of conflict for Lenny, for several reasons:

1. Penny is going to look adorable going to work each day in her short hair and business attire.

2. Penny will be dealing with a lot of doctors, some single or want to be, and some handsome, all with money.

3. Sales representatives wine and dine their clients, so she will be going to lunch and some dinners with mostly men (some women ).

4. Sales people go to conventions.

5. Penny could make a lot of money.

These are off the top of my head. I could see Penny really getting into this work. What could make things worse is if she suddenly needs reading glasses, Leonard will die.

Finding success in a career and doing something she excels at has to be overall a positive thing.

Secondly, going forward there are bound to be ups and downs and misunderstandings, it's the nature of the beast that is a comedy sitcom. However, in the end I'm sure the writers will give us Lenny fans the ending we all want. After all the Lenny relationship is one of the reasons the show is so popular and they'd be foolish not to end on a happy ever after note. So perhaps we need not worry to much...

Totally agreed on all your points. But just want lenny to get a break. Drama, drama, drama with them. it's getting boring.. But not going to knock it yet until we see how it plays. Just been reading too much of your FF.

I have been thinking about this a lot, and I was wondering a few things, why are we getting this from Lorre, isn't he suppose to be having less to do with the show to work his other projects?  Haven't we been told that the writers only plan a couple of episodes ahead, where did this major story arch come from, are we to believe they are planning the whole season now?  Or are we getting another Katie moment from Lorre, they now have three more seasons so he wants to shake things up, maybe trying to convert the show back to his original concept?  Penny and Leonard are now engaged, if they screw this up, do the writers really think there is a recovery for Lenny?  There is a lot of unanswered questions with this spoiler and none of it is good for Lenny and what makes me cringe is it all is coming from Lorre.

Completely agree. Leonard has been shown to never-ever care about money so that's what I'm thinking that TPTB will give us, Leonard's insecurities flaring. Majorly. I liked the whole little 'Cole' story arc and that had a very nice conclusion, Penny saying 'I love you' for the first time so maybe some fun moments could be contained within.

Now that I've gotten caught up, here's a bit of speculation that might come across more positively for those that are worried. Maybe Penny uses her money to buy something extravagant for Leonard and he thinks she should be more prudent with her finances. An argument ensues where Penny points out all that he's done for her, including buying her a car. Leonard caves, they have make-up sex and it's all done with in one episode.
