While I think what Leonard did was certainly cheating, I do think it is forgivable and shouldn't negate the strong relationship Leonard and Penny have now. I'm excited to see how where their relationship goes from here, with the possible Vegas wedding. What I do find interesting is the way in which everyone has worked overtime to condone it, using unwise things Penny did while she was single as justification of Leonard's indiscretion. I remember how angry posters got when they found our about Zach, yet what Leonard did is perfectly okay. I somehow doubt that would be the case if it were Penny.

Because the way the taping report read, especially with Leonard going overtime to explain that he and everyone else had been drinking, it sounded more like a moment of indiscretion. Again, it's forgivable, but I find it interesting. Especially since Penny was blacked out and single when her and Raj happened but everyone continues to bring that one up.

Michy expanded on the kiss, in case you missed it. It wasn't even an indiscretion on Leonard's part.

It wasn't a big deal, and Penny's reaction is they are still getting married.

Yes, it's been established, by Michy herself in a follow-up (as gsxdoug said). Leonard explicitly said that she was the aggressor, and that he put a stop to it. The only reason Leonard feels guilty about something for which there's no reason to feel guilty is that Leonard feels guilty about everything. His indiscretion with Alice while he was still dating Priya was more bothersome, precisely because of the fact that he was the aggressor, but even there, his guilty conscience forced him to admit it to Priya. Also, confessing his one night stand with Priya to Howard after their "pinky swear" was also due to his guilty conscience. In this case, though, even though he was not in the wrong, his conscience wouldn't let him keep the incident a secret in his desire for him and Penny to start things off with a clean slate.

 

Basically, we know he's no saint in the dating department, but he gets a pass on this one.

While last night's episode wasn't a Lenny episode (With the long awaited meeting of the mothers how could it be?), it showed how they could use the limited Lenny to good effect. Penny pushing her ring into Leonard's arm and making drilling noises is just the sort of teasing I'd expect to see with a couple. It didn't take long, or detract from the main story, but it felt real.

You are probably right - except I'd prefer "forgive" to than "condone". I think it was a bad thing - I'd prefer to think it wasn't cheating - , as it can be readily qualified into an accident, rather than something intended. Either way I think Leonard thinks he was in the wrong because he confessed. Penny has complete control over what happens next, so that's good.

Accidentally being married is not quite the same being kissed once. Chalk and cheese. It depends on intent.

the girl forced herself onto him, he rejected her advances.  he confassed to Penny, so that tells a lot about Leonard unlike coments by some that he is a cheater, a douchebag certainly he is none of those thigs.  GO LENNY

One of the top ten episodes of TBBT, last night episode, priceless to see the mothers fight..  Awsome to see Penny being supportive of Leonard, she love her man she wont let nobody treat her man like crap or disrespectfully.

I don't even know what we're talking about here. It was NOT cheating. For there to be cheating there has to be intent, and the person in the couple has to do something wrong or inappropriate, as if for example Leonard had NOT stopped it. That NOT being the case, he did what he was supposed to do: stop the inappropriate behavior of which he was NOT responsible. When he says that they had all been drinking, it's as if he's trying to excuse the girl who did it in Penny's eyes. In the case with ALice he was indeed cheating , and as someone mentioned he stopped himself from going any further, and told Priya right away.

They have been acting more engaged the last couple of episodes, it is really a welcomed change.

I too think I'm glad they are back on stage, rather than in the background. It's funny that a breakup threat is the mechanism, but I'm fairly sure they will get over it in the long run.

Good point Chrismo. She is entitled to have hurt feelings. I'd cut her some slack myself. I do think she could respond in some way. I know, she can make him continue to sleep across the hall as punishment. Oh, wait... he enjoys that. I know, make him move in. That'd teach him. LOL.

But how many times have they made reference to Penny keeping secrets from Leonard or about her talking about him behind his back to her friends. Isn't her talking to Sheldon about him this season part of that? So him being kissed by a girl at a boat party is nothing, keeping it a secret is not that much of a big deal, after all it is Leonard, but if Penny screws herself into the ceiling over it she is going to come off as a hypocrite. I really think what is going to happen is Penny is going to admit something worse to Leonard that is going to make him step back and put a slight hold on them. Penny has always been written as a girl with possibly big secrets so coming up with one now, would allow the writers more wedding delay and create more Lenny conflict, that they seem to enjoy. However, I would be lying if I also didn't believe that the next season they start with Lenny still back home and the Vegas trip never mentioned.

What if Leonard's check engine light comes on as they travel further... OMG, not the SAAB, no please don't kill the SAAB. Ok, so it's a sure thing, the SAAB gets sacrificed so they don't make it to Vegas. Just like Quicksilver or Agent Coulson in the Avengers movies. To give it some weight.

I think Penny talking to her friends or Sheldon is not the same as a kiss from another woman. Ironically 7.1 was just on tonight and Penny was upset(and Sheldon) when she was missing him and Leonard wasn't missing her. I understand Penny has a past but none of her indescretions happened while they were together. my bet is still on 6.2 being brought up. As to the Vegas trip not being mentioned I might believe it hat if it happened mid season. But this is going to lead into season 9. This will be a teaser for the opener almost guaranteed. Leonard's North Sea and Shelton's train trip were discussed in the season 7 and 8 openers I can't imagine this being any different. Edited May 6, 2015 by Chrismo

I really want to see the lead in scene to that scene because it seems like getting married in Las Vegas is Penny's idea, so I want to see what is pushing her to go there and to be excited about it.

So looking forward to the scene on the sofa! A little apprehensive about the rest. A double-edged sword, but she looks so enthusiastic in the promo when talking about going to Vegas (of course the voice-over tells us "8 years in the making" so that makes me nervous).

I'm no spring chicken, but I have never engaged in this sort of "fan activity" before. From the first episode nearly 8 years ago, something about this short, bespectacled, asthmatic physicist and the girl of his dreams grabbed me.

The rest is enjoyable, as well, but these two... My butterflies are quite active too!
