I've invested 8 years in this program like a lot of you and kind of feel that we're being told just to be happy with what we get heck I've had 2 marriages combined that didn't last 8 years

Anyone notice this season as well that anytime L/P comes back from a day out they never go to 4b as normal couples would do but go straight to 4a and bang. Sheldon is there. leonard seems to be MIA when Shamy have date nights. Leonard's probably off camera at penny's, which we never get to see or hear of. I hope we see some good Lenny plots for S9 or I will have to start watching The Flash. Then again Lenny might get the hump and ask me for a break from watching the show. Lol. (Last bit was a joke. Yes I know It wasn't funny.)

The writers have written Leonard OOC most of S8 to make Sheldon look the good guy. You can't have them both good at the same time it will not be believable.

 

How has he been written OOC otherwise?  Even then how does any of that make Sheldon look like the good guy?  Leonard's actions do NOTHING to make Sheldon's selfish self-centered actions (leaving his gf on a train without telling her, behaving like a prick on a double date towards another couple, not telling his GF about his mars app and how he didn't consider her feelings, not thinking about the 5th anniversary) look like something to be proud of.  

 

At least they made it come off as Leonard WAS thinking about Penny even when he made mistakes.  When Sheldon made mistakes Amy has ALMOST ALWAYS had to spoon feed him an answer, when he WASN'T thinking about her.

 

 

It seems this last season they have ignored a lot of canon, it is almost arrogant how they been writing the characters in the season 8 episodes. Penny seems to be doing better at taking care of herself, but the writers make it look like her being with him was because she needed Leonard financially 

 

How have they made it look that way this season IF she no longer needs to be financially dependable on him or anyone else?  The fact that Leonard helped with finances in the past is just a coincidence.  If she REALLY needed to depend on Leonard for financial security what sense does it make for Penny to break up with him in season 3?

 

and him wanting her to need him that way was some kind of cornerstone to their relationship. They seem to have forgotten canon, the reason Penny liked him and how Leonard was always there for her because there was this bond between them.

 

When have they made it seem like that was a cornerstone to their relationship?  Just because he was mopey about her sudden success doesn't mean he considered THAT to be a cornerstone to their relationship.  I think you're MASSIVELY over interpreting this.

Right now the only thing that makes me nervous is Chuck Lorre. He seems to delight in putting characters through the wringer. I am heartened by what Steve M. said in the interview Strawberry mentioned...

 

So when something BAD that we don't like happens on the show, Chuck Lorre is our scapegoat, but when something good happens his name is not mentioned at all.  Funny how that works out.

Yo, meka, FYI, Chuck Lorre HAS ALWAYS MADE ME NERVOUS (yes, that was me yelling!). Way before season 8. MY perception of him (based on MY observations of the shows he has worked on: Roseanne, Cybil, the show starring Bret Butler, Two an-a-half Men), shows a certain mean streak when it comes to his characters. Again long, long, long before season 8! Season 8 did nothing to either advance or deter from this view of him, which is entirely my own! Rant sort of over)

You do know that he doesn't produce these shows on his own right? For better or worse all of his shows have been collaborative processes.

I do know that and am thankful for the calm and sanely guiding hands of Mr Prady & Mr Molaro. The thing that links the other shows I mentioned and the snarkiness and perhaps not so kind treatment of some of the characters therein is Mr Lorre.

Lorre, at the end of the day, can override either Prady or Molaro. Lorre is an Executive Producer, as are Prady and Molaro, he is a co-creator, as is Prady, but Lorre's production company produces the show(in association with Warner Brothers).

I agree with what all of you except Mecca say. This is, of course no attack on Mecca, it is just that his opinions and mine generally differ. I believe that both Leonard and Penny have been written OOC, and that, at best the writers have been indifferent to Lenny. While it might be understandable that they wanted to concentrate on Shamy there was no need for what they did to Lenny. They could have given us the "real" Lenny, even if time constraints dictated that it had to be in small doses. The only episode that reminded me of what Lenny is to me was "The Graduation Transmission". The podcast with Wil Wheaton was (to me) simply pathetic. While the graduation episode was good all around (except for Howard and Stuart I guess), but the lack of a Lenny kiss made it awkward.

 

I also cannot stand the apologists that say everything in TBBT land is fine , and that we have to accept what the writers give us. Heck no! I might not be able to write characters for a TV show, but I know a well written character when I see one, and I'm also perfectly capable of noticing when the quality of the writing decreases as well.

Nope we don't, but you are doing it right, giving your opinion of the show, not someone else's opinion.

Just keep talking about the show and your opinion about it. When it comes to opinions, you're better off talking about your opinion of the show, and staying away from telling others what their opinions should be.

There have been some pictures of Kaley in her glasses on Instagram lately, and in my opinion, she is one of those women who can pull off looking really sexy and hot in them. On my season 9 wish list is a scene of Penny showing up in Leonard's lab in a lab coat and wearing glasses, and maybe even the boots, to visit him. I leave the rest up to your imagination.
