Emotionally he has grown but still has a long way to go. In the last episode he was sitting in Santa's lap. Penny's career is looking better than his. If one of the guys make some discovery or got a promotion how would he react? With his career at seemingly an all time low anything negative could cause him to think Amy was the problem. I don't think there going to break up but I could see the writers writing it in a way that it could happen. I personally don't but still I don't think that it will happen. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Because he is Sheldon Cooper, the smartest Man in the World who already thinks exciting things are happening in dark matter because he's involved and because he actually told Raj of his fears down in the Caltech basement. Sheldon is all over the place even in this taping report. He was trying to ruin Christmas but events did not go the way he expected. He is almost like Mr. Magoo except his blindness is to the way others react emotionally. God help him when he actually attempts to make Amy happy. At no time have I been thinking about a Shamy breakup until this discussion and personally don't expect it to happen but dj here and the talk of his career progress makes me consider possible thoughts in the mind of our Dr Cooper. I'm now flashing back to the Cooper crises of late Season 7 starting with his silly breakup threat in Table and the psychic comment about embracing the one he loves to turn his career around. He really has gone all guns blazing with the I Love Amy this season but coupled with his adorable nervous teenager persona in Prom, the career doubts expressed in the tunnels to Raj and the sort of return of vindictive Sheldon at Christmas ( even though it didn't quite play out that way), something could be brewing in the unique mind of Sheldon Cooper at a Combustion style level. The writers do occasionally throw in that WTF episode to annoy the over sensitive minds of this forum. Still don't see anything at the Lenny breakup level happening though. It doesn't seem like they're going to head that way - the "break up to find our way back to each other" trope works for a lot of traditional couples or for people who do a lot of dating, but I just don't think it would work for Sheldon and Amy, who seem to be "one-and-done" type of people - but I also wouldn't be surprised if it happened. But it certainly seems like the writers are making a strong effort to have Sheldon be a complete head over heels goofball, be totally aware of it, and be completely okay with that. So a break up would seem forced to me, but then again, we have a lot of untold stories to get through, and things could change. Anything truly can happen. Hell, my outlook was bleaker than bleak at the end of season seven, and I was convinced nothing the writers could do would turn me around. But they've really surprised me this season. So you just really never know. Maybe all the changes and ~~feelings will really start to get to Sheldon and he'll split. Maybe it'll start to get to Amy and she'll split. Maybe they'll have a Zazzy-like argument and "take a break" for a while. Who knows? They seem solid now, but it's anyone's game. Can I also just say that Penny's wardrobe has been on point this season. I mean, especially the Champagne and Clean Room episodes. She is a complete knock-out. (Not that she wasn't always, but damn.) Except for Amy who had her hair kind of in a half up, half down sort of do, a bit like this below. Maybe the others at the taping can help with this, but I feel like part of it was braided? Like her bangs were braided and then pinned in the back? Like a topsy turvy kind of thing. It was in keeping with her Victorian style thing. Technically, he's only lived under the US flag, since he's a US citizen and he was born in the United States in Hawaii. But since this isn't a political debate forum... Glad that they'll be airing BBT as usual. Got see my Shamy FWF! And while I think immigration reform is important, not every speech the President makes has to be on the major networks. Leonard moved from the "hopeless Penny fantasy phase", to the affectionate phase, ... {wondering path}... to being engaged. Now that they are engaged I don't see the need for demonstrating their affection since we can all imagine it is going on outside the funny events of the day where something new is happening. And the Shamy cause is going strong. Nice. It had a dicey couple of years. This is why they have their doctorates or two. Perseverance and monomania may be key. Amy demonstrated this. It's bad first aid, folks. Little evidence for it doing good and much evidence for it doing harm. Not taught in this jurisdiction because firm slaps between the shoulder blades is better practice. Look it up, please and don't let someone's loved one die. And this is no joke, even though Heimliching Amy is funny in context. But the odds are she'd choke. Those rules should be guidelines, as long as no one is insulting each other and just having a normal conversation it should be fine. And posting on threads with most traffic makes sense. I get the feeling that the writers are kind of pressing Sheldon and Amy forward a bit so that they can be more or less where the others are emotionally--to have Sheldon admit that he's in love, which puts them on a more even footing than when he was saying things like, "I go back and forth on this boyfriend/girlfriend thing..." They may not be physically intimate, but if he's willing to admit out loud to others that he loves her (not just that he's "very fond"), then I think that enables the writers to do more couple-y things and to make them more of an equal team, to get away from Amy always having to drop hints, etc.. She's let Sheldon off the hook as far as intimacy goes, even though she's still hopeful, but having given him the breathing room that he needs, he's now able to take a step forward emotionally. I think that in order to achieve that and give it its due, they've had to have other stories for the other characters. And since they're still not planning to rush into the Lenny wedding too soon, it makes sense to focus on work stuff for both Leonard and Penny. So we see Leonard working on whatever, we see Penny learning the ropes at her new job, and so forth. I don't think it necessarily means that Leonard's going to surpass Sheldon or that Sheldon is going to have a breakdown or meltdown over his career. Just because we haven't seen him at work doesn't mean he's not working. We don't see him brushing his teeth every night, but that doesn't mean he's not doing it. Anyway, I don't think that whatever conflicts Sheldon and Amy may have in the future are going to be of the break-up-worthy variety. They'll always have a bit of conflict when it comes to things like hobbies, or perhaps emtions, but I think he's past the point of blaming her for distracting him from his work. I don't need to see relationship stuff between them every week, at least not "big step" stuff. I don't even need to see kissing to know they're in a good place (same thing for all the couples). I think that they've hit a certain level now and the writers can tell a variety of stories about all kinds of things. I do wonder if they're going to address Mrs. Wolowitz after the holidays and take a week or two to have some serious moments. I think it would be appropriate and it would give Simon a chance to show some range like he did with the episode about his dad's letter. And even Sheldon could relate because of the death of his father. I wonder if they'd let him get serious for a moment in an episode like that.
