so just for fun...what are we all thinking this weeks taping will be (the script they'll start today).  I'm not expecting any Shamy stuff...and I'm not sure if they'll wait after the new year to do a plot with the Mrs. W's/Stuart situation (which I do think they'll write in her death and handle with extreme care and consideration)....

I kinda am expecting Emily to be in the episode...I don't think a NYE one.  I kinda feel its time for the girls to interact with Emily sans the guys... and there is comic potential with the tension of Penny & Emily...and how the other two would play on that...

I would love to see scenes with Emily & the girls. Maybe uncomfortable at first with the Penny/Emily issues, but getting hilarious with input from Amy (what character is having a better year btw? Mayim is rocking it!) and Bernadette being a calming influence!

To me a girls night is way too predictable and IMO a bit overdone. I will admit though they need Emily in an upcoming episode.

Maybe overdone except for the fact that there hasn't been a dynamic set with Emily yet. I think there is great comedic opportunity there...

You may be right. But lately there's been a lot of plots involving Howard, Leonard and Raj together. If Emily is to be on to me she should be with Raj. I also think something like Leonard taking Sheldon to Emily's doctors office for an exam could be funny.

I think it could be interesting to see Emily and Penny finally find some kind of common ground somewhere, although I'd like to see some funny discomfort first.

I think that theoretically Amy could invite Emily to join them doing something, kind of putting Emily and Penny in an awkward place.  But if they guys are doing something really geeky and the girls decide to go see a movie or go out for drinks, there could be something fun there.  Or if the four of them somehow get caught in some weird situation and maybe Penny and Emily are the ones to figure out how to get them out of it, or whatever.

I don't know how long they'll want to drag out the conflict between them, though.  They might want to milk that for a bit and see what kind of laughs they can get out of it before they have them become friends.

I think a lot of that may depend heavily on Laura Spencer's availability.  We don't know when she'll next be able to be on TBBT, so Emily's appearances may still be a bit of a wild card.

I do wonder how soon they'll deal with Carol Ann Susi/Mrs. Wolowitz no longer being around.  If they decide to write in Mrs. W dying, I wonder if they'll wait for a bit, or want to get it over with, so they can maybe move Howard forward to happier story lines.  The thing is, they don't want to do a sad episode that will air at the wrong time (like Christmas or Valentine's Day, for instance), and they're going to have to walk a fine line between not being too flippant about it and not dwelling on it too long.

For instance, if she passes away, how long does it take for Howard to get past it?  They probably don't want to have an entirely serious episode (although, that could be interesting in its own way), but they don't want to make light of her passing, either.  And they proabably don't want a string of sad episodes, but they really shouldn't have Howard getting over his grief immediately.

Since Carol Ann Susi's role was to make everyone laugh, I kind of think that they won't lean on that grief button too long, but having Howard deal with it could give Simon a lot of range to play while honoring how important Mrs. W was to Howard, and even Bernie--and now Stuart, too.

I hope they take their time and do a really good episode for her.

Impossible to get much from it

Thanks for posting the pic! :)

As tacky as it would be in my mind, would they do Mrs. Wolowitz dying as the season cliffhanger?

I don't know that they'd want to go out on such a sad note unless they had some other really strong story to go with it, like maybe Howard's dad showing up.  Or maybe an earlier episode could deal with her death and then his dad could show up as the cliffhanger.

I dunno.  I think they're more likely to kind of couch it in between some other episodes so that they can have as many funny episodes as possible while still dealing with her death in a respectful, appropriate way.

I think that if it's in say March, maybe, that would give them room to do romance on V-day, if they want, and still have time to recover emotionally in order to go out with humor at the finale.
