Is anyone going to tonight's taping? It has been so quiet on the forum the last couple days, I was wondering.

General question, is it normal for a popular TV show to run 7 weeks in the middle of the season with only one new episode? I just don't remember this happening before.

I'm guessing not but there is some unusual circumstances here. The show started on Monday night and switched back to Thursday with 9 weeks in a row of shows.(10 actual shows) Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years are all on Thursday and the Peter Pan live was on a Thursday. They still had 11 new shows by the end of the year as usual though.

Part of it was CBS' decision the last two years to run on the 2nd (last year) and the 3rd(two years ago).  Most of the time networks waited until the Monday following the first of the year, otherwise the show was pretty much one episode from Thanksgiving until the first one of the new year.  Also, they ran two episodes in December last year, but they didn't run one on Halloween.  After the episode on Thursday, they will have run 11 episodes in 13 weeks.  After Thursday, there are 24 weeks left in the season,  with only 13 episodes.    If you only count from the first of the year, there would be 21 weeks for the 13 episodes.  While it's nice to have a double episode to start the season, I'd almost rather they only have one, to reduce the number of repeats.

But doesn't only reduce it by one..................

I think the stretch from the season premiere to episode 10 is the longest run of episodes the show's ever done uninterrupted. Part of that is the doubled up season premiere, but even on a weeks basis: nine weeks is more than they would usually do unbroken. It was necessitated by the jump from Monday to Thursday, but it's made November and December rough. I was amused to see Bill Prady having to deal with the usual Twitter complaints of reruns (even noticed a few in the comments) about reruns when the show had just done ten episodes. Unbelievable.

By only running one episode in December and by the show starting a week later in January, the show will be in a normal, actually slightly better position than last year, with episodes for the remainder of the season. By January 9 this year they'd aired 13 episodes, next year they'll have aired 12 on January 8. I agree with Tensor, it would be better to have a single season premiere again to cut the rerun weeks.

I agree with the single episode premiere. Does anyone have an opinion as to the Total number of episodes for Season 8? 24 as they have in the last few seasons, or 23 because of the late start post-contract negotiations?

Bill recently posted this on twitter:

Bill Prady @billprady

Time for math: 52 weeks in a year; 24 episodes a season. There will be reruns. Amazing holiday ep coming up soon.

So I believe 24 :)

Hi everyone. I was at the taping tonight. Lots of funny stuff. Sheldon and leonard talk about the living arrangements and they end up crying in a department store with their girlfriends purses on their laps. Raj is worried about a space probe. He also gets back into the Hindu religion. Title is the space prob disintegration.

Also, leonard and penny kissed in this episode.

Sheldon agrees to let leonard sleep over at penny's once a week. He says he is ok with them living together if they do it gradually.

Sheldon told leonard at the department store that Amy did teach him how to drive a little, but he won't do it because he is scared and sometimes he misses the pedals.

Great taping. it was a pretty funny episode. Sheldon and Leonard talked about the living situation. Lenny kissed. Although I don't think it's going to be an episode because they did a third take without the kiss. Sheldon told Leonard Amy taught him how to drive. Leonard and Sheldon cried. It was pretty funny.

Thank you, happykitty. :)

I love love love that Amy has kinda taught Sheldon to drive a little. It just shows how much he trusts her, and he'd do anything for her.

I'm excited for things to progress, and for steps to be taken for Amy to ultimately move in with Sheldon. But man, my stomach kind of drops to see the first stages of Sheldon and Leonard some day not living together.
