I don't mind the Sheldon Penny friendship but not when they do stupid things like this and it is stupid IMO

Tmp mentioned 701 and I thought that was way too much shinny going on and another example from "anything can happen' with Amy being suddenly jealous of Penny and Sheldon friendship, that came out of nowhere just like this did

I'm already thinking I will bypass their scenes, I just don't want to see it

I am not upset about the report, but it's the first time in a while where I feel "ehhh" and not excited for the episode to air.

I don't care for Shenny scenes at all, so that will probably give you an indicator of how I feel about this. Obviously, they will have scenes together but it's been too much for my liking over the past 2 seasons. They are opposites, woohoo, we get it. It's not really that amusing.

As far as the experiment, Shamy has nothing to worry about so that didn't concern me. It's nice to see a confident(ish) Amy.

I am looking forward to the H/B story :)

What is it that you don't want to see?  Why does it not seem funny to you?  I really don't get what the problem is with this stuff.

Its the fact that they already reinforced the non shinny ship last season with the laundry room scene and I don't have a clue as to why they would just throw this one in the mix

Its not gonna be top of my watchlist that's for sure

I think that you're making too big of an issue about it.  It's only partly about anti-shenny stuff.  If it doesn't bother Amy and Leonard, what's the problem?  They relationship test thing isn't about declaring your love for someone.  It's theoretically supposed to work on anyone, and it's obvious it doesn't.  And it's just silly fun.

Nothing to get fed up with or upset over, IMO.

Luckily i dont make it until after it shows, i will dvr it and fast forward the shenny parts. Im not excited for this one and dread the shenny gifs posted after it airs.

But there really isn't any "Shenny parts"--just because they're doing scenes together doesn't mean it's Shenny stuff.

Not every episode is going to please everybody, which is to be expected.  No need to get upset, or to get upset at the people who are getting upset, or to get upset about the people who are getting upset with the people who are getting upset.

I couldn't agree more phanta. There is no Shenny. I love their friendship and this just reinforces they have a special brother/sister bond that is shown here. Nothing more.

I watch this show for everyone. The Shamy part is just extra special for me.

I will watch this show and reserve final judgment for after it airs. It looks bad on paper for some, I get it but watch it and see if it plays out so bad.

I doubt it will.

I loved Sheldon and Penny's friendship in the first 3-4 seasons, but have really not liked it once they grew "close" in S6.  I felt that it changed the essence of who they are by their willingness to open up to each other so much when in fact they were supposed to not truly understand each other.  They started to parallel them too much and this episode brings that out again in spades.

So I agree with Rachel, not a "funny" episode at all to me. I found it really rather creepy and honestly will likely skip it altogether.   I love Howardette but will just catch their scenes via small clips I think.

There isn't enough in this episode to hold my attention, although I do love Amy being confident as heck.  That is nice to see.

For those asking about Mrs. W - typically in Jewish faith, cremations are frowned upon  in a big way.   The deceased must be buried before sundown on the third day since the death was announced.  A full week of shiva begins upon the burial.  Basically it is a time of a lot of eating as Anita pointed out.  People bring food to the family and give their condolences, etc.   All mirrors in the house have to be covered during that period.  You sit low typically, and many don't shower or wear makeup during that period.   It is to keep focus away from yourself, but to focus on the lost soul.   There are rules about Shabbat and holidays I won't get into but basically it starts upon burial, which is considered the first day of shiva and goes for 7 days.

P.S.  Lio bravo on your write up and I do agree with the majority of it.  However, casual viewers don't really pay attention to Sheldon and Penny and the depth of who they are that much.  Not sure they will get it the same way.

What was Sheldon screaming at in the tag? Did u see it? What was it implying?

More important...if no one knew about his birthday (which is preposterous in the first place because Amy would have seen it on his employment record where he put her as his emergency contact and have known when it was)....and Penny was with him the whole time playing "let's fall in love"...then how the heck was a surprise party suddenly planned (given all of them were out playing zombie game)?   That part was such a stupid tag if you ask me.   Really made no sense whatsoever.

couldn't they have at least have acknowledged this somehow? Like have howard's at least make an attempt to get her body flown back or get a last minute plot in Florida, and get balked each time by the astronomical cost and say "screw it. I love her but I know for a fact the woman kept a bag of pork rinds under her pillow"?

That tag scene makes no logical sense whatsoever. Its ridiculous to imply that Amy wouldn't know his birthday given the emergency contact and who would have had time to plan that party. So many logic and continuity plot holes in this episode.

frankie, Anita, those are very interesting remarks, and nice catch about the cremation. I was hoping that they would devote some time to a leave-taking for Mrs W with the whole gang (apart from the brief one from a previous episode). It's an unpopular opinion, I know, but I actually like it when the show is willing to go properly into dramatic territory. You have a talented cast, show! They can handle it! The laughs are richer if you're willing to acknowledge pathos (cf. Professor Proton's funeral, with Leonard and Penny's gentle, sweet joy in each other, and Sheldon's isolation and pain).

Thanks wowbagger. I think the gang is close enough that at least a couple of them would go with H/B to Florida for the funeral. I know they weren't too religious, but Howard has mentioned temple and a Bar Mitzvah. Cremation is very odd. I wonder if Mayim offered her 2 cents to the writers on that?

Beats the hell out of me. I guess we're supposed to assume that Penny got away from Sheldon at some point and secretly texted the others? LOL.

He screamed out of fright when we walked in and everyone yelled, "Surprise!!" He turns around and looks at Penny like, "Oh no, you didn't." Hahaha. There were balloons too.

Anyway, I'm glad to see so many of you have a great attitude about the episode. It honestly wasn't that bad at all.

I'll agree that it makes no sense for nobody to know Sheldon's bday.  Can you imagine, the guys have all been good friends for years and none of them ever asked?  If he were being secretive about it, they would have been determined to find out.  Besides, Penny and Raj took him to get a driver's permit so they would have seen it there.  It's also very weird that he wouldn't tell Amy his birthday.

Maybe they'll change that part of it before the episode airs.

It was Penny and Howard, wasn't it?  But even so, why would they look at his paperwork?  He wouldn't need to show it to them for any reason.

And the guys might not really care about figuring out his birthday.  They already know he hates gift giving, why would they care about his birthday?  And why would he tell Amy?  If he doesn't want to tell her, he wouldn't.  Now, she would have seen it on his EC form, but that doesn't mean that she went around blabbing about it.

I don't know why they'd feel the need to change it.  I like that Penny found a chance to text the gang in order to yank his chain about the surprise.

Not every episode is going to please everybody, which is to be expected.  No need to get upset, or to get upset at the people who are getting upset, or to get upset about the people who are getting upset with the people who are getting upset.

I guess for me the question is what it is that doesn't please people.  Of course not everyone is going to like every episode, but it always seems odd to me the different reasons people dislike episodes, like it's all so fragile that any one little thing--a snarky comment, a certain facial expression, or in this case, a pointless "test" that doesn't reveal anything bad--will somehow destroy the appeal of an episode.

I just find it kind of baffling.

Okay after reading all the post from the last 10 hours and many with long detailed paragraphs I feel Like there nothing new for me to really. a lot of peoples (Shamies, Lennies, Non-Shippers, etc.) with different views have all made some good valuable points.

As I said last night in chat this is fully a Filler Episode and really nothing us. It won't impact or influence the rest of the season or even the series in any way.

I can understand how this may rub peoples the wrong way especially with Penny feelings concerning Leonard. I think this was episode for the Producers to say Once and For all "IT'S NOT HAPPENING!" But the majority of us already knew that. But that may not stop the the small minority shenny peoples.

My issues is why now all of a sudden did they get the urge to address it not that it needed to because it was clear WAY back in the pilot it was not going to happen and was even more evident after Sheldon broke into her apartment in the next episode after the pilot.  They should have addressed it back in Season 1 or 2 before there was Shamy and Lenny really took off not 7 Years later after Shamy is a established couple and Lenny are engaged. But obviously  they did not have a time machine then or a crystal ball and could not predict the future and how the stories and characters would develop and grow over the years.

I think it could have been done differently. If anything I view this as a Penny-Sheldon friendship Story line not whether the two could be in love with each other  or anything else like that but it did show that they are not in love and that they see each other as Brother and sister (or Mother) which It thought was nice when they said they saw each other as only a brother and sister. There were some things out of character like the babe thing I agree, That part made me Cringe and the Eye staring form reading sounds like it going to be awkward and uncomfortable. I did like that Leonard and Amy told them to do the experiment with each other. It does show how confidence they are.

Although I am confuse by Leonard then saying later about Penny being his fiancee like he afraid she going to fall in love with someone else or he doubt whether Penny loves him.  I agree that there not been enough story lines on Lenny Relationship this season. there been very little. One thing is that Penny seem to be going back and forth on her feelings for Leonard again on whether she love him like she done  the pass. they are engaged now so she should know how she feels by now as they b been together for 7 years. .

So I am mixed on his episode I guess. It would have been nice if the had ended the episode with Sheldon and Penny talking to their SO ensuring them that they loved them, etc,.,

I don't have a problem with them doing the experiment as Leonard and Amy gave their their blessings and it a lot better then doing it with Strangers but we could have done without some of it (Babe, Jabs about Leonard Eyes staring.). Some of the questions were personal yes but they weren't TOO personal. Some stuff is easier to talk about with a friend then rather a SO. As I said it could have been done differently. It won' t be a memorable episode obviously but It won't be  a top ten worst either.

So bottom line we should all calm down as it not a threat to Shamy or Lenny in any way. Again it was just more of a filler episode more then anything. The point of the experiment was to do it with strangers and since that was not going to happened they did with treacherous (At the suggestion of Lamy) as they knew they would fail because of the obvious but there is the eeky factor.  Would we have really like seeing them do the experiment with complete strangers on the street? NO, It would have been nice if more questions about their relationships with SO were asked.

I like that Lamy took it and failed after One question lol.

I did like the other story lines especially with Raj, Emily, Amy and Leonard. Howard at the airport should be pretty funny, I did like how that story ended. Very nice

I think the rest of the season for Howard will be about him continuing to come to terms with his Mother death and eventually a Reconciliation with Stuart.

So bottom line I guess I do have problems the experiment. some of it seem cringe and awkward.  I don't ike how Penny keep doubting whether she still loves leoanrd after all these years and now being engaged. we could have done without the jabs.

won't be my  my top 5 favorite or even top 10.  No doubt a lot of fans will not be happy.

Now that we know Sheldon's birthday, I just had to take a peek at what it said about his astrology and I find that his moon sign (which is in Aquaius) to be a little more suited to his personality.  And, if I only knew his rising sign.

Reading the taping it just sounds like typical S/P dialogue. It is sweet they realised or restablished they are like brother and sister. I just don't get the way it seems so ooc. I think theirs been a huge overreaction. Theirs no double meaning. This was done for comedy. Theyve done this before isolate and separate Leonard. So s/p can have their scenes. Adhesive Duck, s7 premiere. I guess the difference is they are not the polar opposites they once were. Through Leonard they understand each other more now. They still want nothing from each other. But its not funny anymore. It bothers me tho the writers had to agreesivly tackle the whole concept. The irony is something so non threatening is so threatening for a lot of PPl. But its Sheldon lol how anyone ever shipped them when it was vague at best since 07 is incredible. Particularly considering the lack of real romantic undertone. I remember Leonard said it best in 5x01 in response to Howard thinking he had a shot "Oh please Sheldon hasba better shot, and he doesent even know how to use his gentinals" nicely said Leonard. It was ooc hence the polarizing response. But writers clearly like Anything Happen sick of the diminishing of Leonard particularly.

Agressivly proved it is artificially, scientifically, biologically impossible to feel something that doesn't exist. Hence the awkwardness lol. And the outcome was a sweetness of realizing they are bro and sis. He could of done with other women to it wouldn't be as bad. I just think it comes across creepy and contrived. I think it's nice they have realized something fans have always known. But was it necessary? Clearly tptb did. It bothers me tho she needs to be despite all her curiosity for an opportunity to get to kno Sheldon. And despite typical their scenes. Penny becoming bored with Sheldon. Takes a sip of her wine "your so not the guy". I mean its Sheldon. This is the same guy who grabbed Penny's boob in Adhesive Duck. Garnerd no response. Penny saying "Sheldon undressing me never thought I would say that". Penny has alwYs seen Sheldon as the weird robot man who lives with the object of her romantic desire. Its always been innocence and absolutely harmless. And the writers were almost trying for a full circle moment in one. It bothers me tho Sheldon or Rdj heh she needs to stare or fantasize about a situation not involving Leonard. To realize Sheldon is her bro? Despite being a silly experiment. I don't know she seems to be going through the motions with Leonard. Like Some said shallow Penny rearing its ugly head. Leonard is feeling disposable. And I'm not knowning if this was one off ep. But this Penny feels like an imposter of the real thing lol anyway. They both knew the outcome of some silly expierement, just like in 8x03. They knee deep down they were like brother and sister. That wasen't the point.

Snowflower...I'd guess his rising sign would be Aquarius... which would put his Moon in the first house... which means it's all about about him! It also means He's a sexy robot.

In the interest of full disclosure my moon in the first house too. It's all about me. Not in Aquarius though... not a sexy robot.
