. This Amy having enough respect for Sheldon not to pressure him into sex and Sheldon having enough respect for himself not too be pressured into something he doesn't want to do.

So as always it's all about Sheldon. Amy suppose to have respect for Sheldon. Sheldon is suppose to have respect for himself. But who gives a crap if Sheldon has any respect for Amy. I guess where at the door again.

I'm sorry guys they are not teenagers who have to be ready or wait till they are 40. Amy wants it and I don't care what you guys say the writers have implied it so many times and like always everyone has to wait for Sheldon to be ready to move on including lenny. I'm really not being mean here but if it was real life Amy would have been off years ago because you have two people who clearly want different things. Amy has been patient she has waited four years and he is still not ready. When is he going to be ready? Not fair on Amy. I say you go girl do everything in your power to get him there be it getting him drunk or the tardis thing to get your leg over or what ever because if she stop hinting or trying he will never be ready and it's not ok for Sheldon to keep teasing her with all the sex comments he has made this season but when Amy does try to entice him, its he is not ready. BS. Well stop giving her mixed messages. I want the best for Amy and just feel Sheldon is not playing fair.

I'm sorry, I just find this terribly offensive. Sex is such a personal thing. Sheldon doesn't owe her sex. She chose to stay with him. She knows and had excepted that he may never be ready. If she can't handle that and the need for sex with him outweighs the relationship they've built over the last 4+ years, she needs to leave him. I'm sorry, but no one owes anyone sex, ever.

Sex is a major part of relationships it bring couples closer emotionally. If they both weren't ready I'll understand but clearly Amy is ready.

Sorry if you find my opinion offensive wasn't meant to be or the intention. No one should owe anyone sex but if you go into a relationship you should both want the same things. That's the point I was trying to make.

If this was real life as you say then Leonard and Penny wouldnt be together, simply because in real life having nothing in common wouldn't work and also real life Leonard would of most likely given up waiting for Penny to commit to him

i'm not sure what Leonard and Penny have to do with this. I'm not sure why Amy needs Sheldon. I'm guessing she still has Gerard

First of all, who says there's an age limit for virginity? I'm always saying that one should think about the issue as if the roles were reversed. Amy is just as much a virgin as Sheldon, apart from her use of "Gerard", but if she were the one wanting to wait, everyone would object to everyone pressuring her to give it up just because she's his girlfriend and he wants it. How many guys have dumped a girl because she wouldn't give it up? Tons of stupid men.

If Amy lives him, and she does, then she is understanding of his issues. She loves him in spite of his OCD, and his other neuroses, and she has a right to love him under those circumstances. Mayim said, when writing about the ILY scene from the prom episode, that Amy loves him unconditionally and is therefore willing to wait, no matter what. That's unconditional, not dependent on a timeline or sex for it's on sake.

If all any wanted was sex, she could have had it with Zack, assuming he was willing. But she found that she couldn't imagine doing it with someone so stupid, even if she found him physically and sexually attractive.

I don't think Sheldon has been teasing Amy about sex. She know where he's coming from and that he's not ready--and that it's not that he doesn't love her, because he obviously does, but because physical interactions are hard for him. Not impossible, but difficult. And seeing as both of them were socially stunted, and Sheldon has been essentially prepubescent until he met Amy, I think they are, in many ways, like teenagers with their first relationship.

And that's the running joke in how they're written, mostly.

What I like the most, though, is that they've declared their love for each other without having sex first, which is how people used to do it, BTW.

I object to the idea that Amy should trick Sheldon into sex somehow (and really, how does one do that without it being rape?), or get him drunk (again, date rape) or just physically go after him (rape) since that would be making him do something he's not ready for. He'll find his way there eventually, but when the show is ready to put Sheldon in that place, emotionally, mentally, and physically.

And apart from the other considerations, since we are indeed talking about fictional characters in a sitcom and not real people, the writers are not going to play the Shamy Coitus Card until they (the writers) are ready. Just like the Lenny engagement of wedding, or Leonard moving in with Penny for good, these are big high cards that they won't play until they feel it's right for the storytelling.

And in the meantime, they'll joke about it or play around with the ideas, but they won't get there until it's time. And the timing does t depend on what "real people" would do, or what any viewer thinks they should do.

This discussion seems to have moved beyond this immediate episode to a larger discussion of the Sheldon/Amy relationship. But here goes, in as boringly clinical language as possible, and obviously all my opinion only:

a ) It's fine for Amy to want sex.

b ) It's fine for Sheldon to not want sex, or not feel ready right now.

c ) So long as there is no outright misprepresentation or coercion, both parties are at liberty to persuade their significant other of their point of view.

d ) Both parties are free to assess their needs, and whether they are being met by their present relationship, at any time.

e ) If either party, or both parties, decide that they prefer being in the relationship to being out of it, we should be able to respect that decision.

f ) If either party decides that he/she prefers being out of the relationship than in it, we should be able to respect that decision.

What happen with waiting to have Sex until you were married? There nothing wrong with that no matter the age. It work for generations and generations until peoples started deciding we should all have sex by age 20 whether we were married or not even if one was not ready. It all comes down to when both are ready at the end of the day.

I am glad they didn't have Shamy jump right into the sack like Lenny and Howardette where both of those couples barely knew each other and each other history.

Shamy by waiting until they are both ready or until marriage are doing it the right way or how it should be. There nothing wrong with that. No doubt their mothers would be proud they haven't done it yet

Well time have changed this isn't the 18th century I rather know I am compartable sexually with my partner than marry them to realise they are boring in bed. Sex is a big part of relationships that is why most people go into them and also a major reason why some crash. jmo.

There is nothing wrong with waiting for sex in a relationship.

There is also nothing wrong with having sex right away in a relationship.

You can sleep with them on the first date - good for you, that is your choice. You can sleep with them on your wedding night - good for you it's your choice. You choose to never sleep together but continue a happy relationship? Good for you, it's your choice and your partner for understanding

You shouldn't shame people for the choice they make, there is no right or wrong way to do it in the world. Perhaps everyone each has their own version of right/wrong that they follow, but I promise you that not everyone has the same rules. That's fine, that's great, we all have our choices don't shame others for theirs.

Before Amy I always had a theory Sheldon was asexual, but since he is considering it with her - my headcanon is he is demisexual

He has a lot of reasons to never find sex appealing, and he is considering changing them because he loves her and from what I can tell is begining to want her - so it's slow for him, he will get there and if he doesn't - if he flat out states that he will never have sex because he just can't, I think Amy will stay with him - but that's just me, I've always seen emotion over physical aspects in relationships. As long as they love and support each other, they'll be ok, they don't need sex as a make/ or break deal... Some couples might - but I don't think they would

I don't think there is a "right way" or a "wrong way" about when a couple decides to have sex.  I think it is a decision each couple makes for themselves. Some couples are life-long and loving and sexually active partners without the marriage ceremony ever happening.  I don't think that makes them any less right or more right than the married couple who waits til the wedding night. Love can work and manifest itself in many ways. :kissing:

Actually, as far as being shown to have sex, Leonard and Penny knew each other two years before having sex. End of the first episode of Season three. They almost had sex in season two, after knowing each other for a year and a half. It took them nine months the second time, although they did start, but didn't finish, after 4-5 months.

You seem to have a mess up thinking and is what wrong with our country today thinking peoples should jump into the sack at every opportunity even if they only been on one date. It doesn't matter if it the 18th century. The same opinions still hold for many peoples today as it did in the middle of the 20th Century! . My cousin And his wife never live together until marriage. My Brother and his girlfriend have dated for over 3 years but have not slept together yet.

The fact is waiting to have sex until marriage is still the correct way.

That why there is so many teenage pregnancies today. I was taught Abstinence. Apparently you weren't

There a word they have for women like Penny & Leonard and A word For Amy and Sheldon.

Amy Would be considered a True Lady.

Penny had w''red around since she was in high school. She been lucky.

That's your opinion. My opinion is as much messed up as yours. You don't have to be married to be happy. There are a lot of people out there that are happyly in relationships without a piece of paper to prove it. So penny is not a true lady because she is not a Virgin and Amy is. There you go society telling people how to behave. Just because someone is not a Virgin or married doesn't make them bad people they have other qualities that make them better people.

Oy, how did this become a seminar on Perspectives on Emotional and Physical Intimacy in the Twenty-First Century? Another list of edicts (once again, my opinion only, but I feel reasonably strongly about said opinion):

a ) Don't have sex before you are ready.

b ) That said, there is no hard (hur hur hur) and fast rule about when you should be ready, so long as the sex is between consenting adults.

c ) There is nothing wrong with Sheldon and Amy having said they love each other before having sex.

d ) There is nothing wrong with Leonard and Penny having had sex before they knew they loved each other.

e ) There would, in my opinion, have been nothing wrong with Leonard and Penny jumping into bed immediately, if they so chose and they were ready and fully and freely consenting. Party hearty, my pretties.

Yay. But I kind of have a bad feeling about the taping. Something is not right. The secrecy, no pictures or any of the usual bits we get. I hope I'm just being paranoid.

lots of secrecy should give you a good feeling. There's no reason to be sneaky about a boring filler episode.

I agree that I don't think it's bad, just juicy and big. I think Mrs. W's death gave them their quota of major angst for this season. But something is definitely up.

Sex means something different to every individual. Some people find sex very important and will base their relationship around it. Others find that it is not an important part of relationship, and it many cases are only a fraction of what a relationship is. Some people are more sexual than others. People who are asexual are not interested in having sex with other people. People who are pansexual form a sexual attraction only after they have made a connection to a person's soul, people who are demisexual have a lack of interest but can be very sexual with the right person. If I am at all mistaken please correct me because after sexuality is a very complicated thing. What I'm trying to say is what works for one person may not work for another and therefore it is not up to us to judge Sheldon or Amy. I think it's wonderful that Sheldon is a character who was assumed to be asexual at the beginning of the series and then they introduce this women and we find out he might be pansexual or demisexual. I think it's wonderful that Amy had basically given up on ever meeting a man who she found herself compatible with until she found Sheldon. I think they have a very understanding relationship and it works for them in probably one of the sweetest and most genuine ways. There is nothing more fulfilling than knowing someone wants to be with you because of who you are and not what you can offer them sexually.

I hope you are right about the big and juicy. It's makes me feel better and I didn't think about the major angst. So positive thinking from now. :)

I agree. It been a very Strange week. There been absolutely nothing from the cast and Crew on Social Media No Script Cover, Photos, Posts, etc,. Been Nothing. Zip. Been very quiet which is odd and out of the ordinary especially for Bill, Jim, Kaley and Mayim.

I have a feeling now something pretty major is going to happen tonight. Why else by so quiet? To much secrecy this week.

Phantagrae, camerakid, tbbtfanamanda Have fun tonight! Looking forward to your Summary and to see what all the secrecy about.

As we don't have anything on the taping I say we speculate what we think is going to happen. Me first. Two cliffhangers.

Lenny go missing and the gang think they ran of to get married. We don't find out where they went till the next taping.

Shamy are seen coming out of Sheldon's room together. We don't know if they did or didn't until next taping.

Howdette & ramily go on a murder mystery hunt and Raj goes missing. OK 3 cliffhangers. ☺.
