I really hoped to see some wedding planning this season and it has been disappointing.

I have been very happy with Shamy progress and need nothing more. I hope the last two episodes have some nice Lenny interaction.

I hope they don't just rush a marriage without proper planning. And I agree there may be differences in the marriage of Howard and Bernadette but there was definite planning.

I would love to see them get married next season but the way the writers have been I don't have high expectations. To me it almost seems as though that was a throw away comment by Penny about wanting to wait until her brother gets out....maybe the writers will explain that something happened and he is going to be in longer than anticipated. To me that is what will be the only thing that makes sense at this point.

The only other explanation I can come up with is they had already planned all the Shamy stuff and had some great stuff planned for Lenny but Carol Ann Susi's death derailed the plans....I doubt that is it because as they have always said they work week to week.

Either way I want to see a wedding soon.

Sure if you take that conversation at 100% face value, than that means the characters want the wedding set 12-18 months from then. But I just took it as them trying to get an idea of when they want to get there, not that they know the specifics...

How about this. Anyone that can twist a straight quote to try to get to their point or can't even be bothered to even do a modicum of research along with moving the goalposts in the middle of the debate really isn't worth the time debating. If you can't be bothered to find out if your statements are correct (there are a few doozies in your post here) before posting, I can't be bother to do it for you. I have quite a bit of things to do around here, and I have lines and an accent to learn for a play I'm in, and I can spend much more productive time working on that.

It takes a few seconds to make unsubstantiated or even directly contradictory remarks (remember your "There's nothing concrete to show they know when her brother is getting out or paraphrased "They said they won't do any planning until her brother is out), it takes a fair amount of time to find and explain the finding in a reply. It's something that is just no longer worth my time in this case. As from my experience you'll try to twist an interpretation to your favor, change what you want (move the goalposts) or make another un-researched statement. And, your intuition is no better or no worse than anyone else's. Unless you have contact with the producers you have no information on what's going to happen, except for a SWAG.

Sorry if I sound stupid but what is SWAG an acronym of? In the context which Tensor has just used it, I was thinking script cover or something like that, but I'm really not sure. Can anybody help me out?

I certainly had the expectation to have had wedding talk before now. It is perplexing that an engaged couple would go this long without being focused on it a little.

The excitement vanished last summer. Penny talked to her mother once on the phone. I assumed perhaps the writers would get to it after Christmas.

What's up really?

I think it's more about not wanting to focus on the wedding if the writers don't intend to have it take place right away. I think that if they showed Penny picking out dresses or looking for venues, people would start expecting the wedding to happen sooner than tptb intend it to happen.

I also believe that the different timeframe for the Howardette engagement/wedding had to do with the fact that those characters are "second tier", if you will.

Since their storyline isn't the more crucial one, there's not the weight on it like there is for Leonard and Penny.

L/P are main characters and their relationship was the one that began the story and has been the main overall development, even as Sheldon and Amy began their relationship.

Interruptions like the breakup and the Priya period were simply developments along the way as they worked their way back toward each other. It's a long term story that's likely to span the whole run of the show.

It's not a question of how long it normally would take an engaged couple to make plans because there are other factors in the timeframe of this story.

I didn't twist a straight quote, I simply interpret it differently then you do.  The Amount/or lack of research doesn't automatically disprove any comments validity.

Also I didn't see it as me moving the goalposts for two reasons:

-I thought we were talking about the spans of engagement-marriage between Lenny and Howardette, if that's the case aren't you the one that moved the goalposts?

-When bringing up Howardette's specific episode, you left out how Lenny went through their own similar story where they talked about moving in together, but still didn't (Spoiler Alert Segmentation) this also happened before they were engaged.  So why did that story get no mention from you?

If you can't be bothered to find out if your statements are correct (there are a few doozies in your post here) before posting

How about pointing out some of these incorrect statements?  Seriously I'm not afraid to admit when I'm wrong.  But I have a hunch some of these might be a difference of how each of us interpreted them.

or paraphrased "They said they won't do any planning until her brother is out)

I never said they said that. Also 12-18 months pending good behavior is not concrete.  For all they know her brother could behave badly which could extend his time.  JUST 12 months, with nothing added after that.  That to me IS concrete.  YMMV

And, your intuition is no better or no worse than anyone else's. Unless you have contact with the producers you have no information on what's going to happen, except for a SWAG.

Where did I say it was?

LOL!

Where's Sheldon's picture of that cat saying "Oh really?" when you need it eh?

All your proving with that comment is how I'm still in your head, and that you haven't gotten over the discussions we had.

Your also proving that you didn't do any research, if you did you would've which helps prove my point.

Forgive me, I have been remiss.  Much as I love to spend my spare time stalking you through the threads on here, unfortunately this week I had an extra large consignment of new kittens delivered to my house and they can't eat their blancmange without their little bibs tied on now can they? Whoop whoop bibble...
