phantagrae Posted April 23, 2015 Share Posted April 23, 2015 I think that Leonard's dalliance with Alice from the comic book store was a completely different scenario and IMO was his subconscious telling him that he wasn't as in love with Priya as he claimed to be. He tells Penny that he and Priya are in love and might get married some day, but in the same breath he's asking her how to make it okay to sleep with Alice. I think it was kind of like Mary Cooper was trying to tell him--are you in a relationship or are you just calling it that. He and Priya were not as in love as either of them claimed or wanted to be. For Priya, it was probably just infatuation and a bit of rebellion. For Leonard, it was probably infatuation coupled with her being a substitute for Penny, whom he could not really let go of. I think that while he was on the ship he was feeling great, he was in his element, among fellow scientists doing important work. They were partying and having a good time, like being at a frat party or away at summer camp and he was part of the group for a change, not being bullied or excluded. So some girl plants one on him in the midst of all the drunken revelry. He puts a stop to it, but it's there in the back of his mind. Now, logistically, I think they didn't have him mention it before because I don't think they'd thought of it as a story element before and the idea would not have fit with what they were focusing on at the time of his return. But Leonard does have a history of feeling guilty and feeling the need to confess the truth. I can see him being unwilling to mention it before because it wasn't something he did on purpose like with Alice, where he wen out of his way to cheat on purpose. I don't think he cheated at all in this case, but still felt the need to clear the slate in the name of honesty and full disclosure. I'm sure it won't be a deal breaker, but will be used as a device to derail the elopement. I don't think they'd really have them run off and get married like this, but instead it's a different way of delaying the real marriage that will come later. As others pointed out though Lenny isn't going get married and I have a sense there could be a battle going on for a couple episodes. I actually think the Sheldon ring is probably not going to be a storyline since he got the idea of getting the ring from Lenny.. I agree the Raj story could go a couple different directions. I hope next season he actually goes through with it or at least stands firm about not doing things with her that are so far outside of his comfort zone anymore. Do I think Leonard and Penny will get married in Vegas, absolutely not, that is why they had him all of a sudden feel guilty about a drunken kiss. I think they will get to Vegas have some fun and not get married. Besides Penny has been there done that with Vegas. I can't really seeing her wanting not to have her friends and family at her wedding. Will Sheldon and Amy stay in a break up mode? Maybe for an episode or two but I don't even think it will last that long. I think Amy wants time to think about what she wants to say to Sheldon and being constantly around him is making it hard for her. She wants a few days to think about what she wants and then she will sit him down and have an adult conversation. The whole relationship is based on communication. It is what they do best. Now they have to have a real heart to heart and she has to tell him how she feels about his constant interruptions or out of the blue comments. It probably did hurt that he brought that up at that exact moment. Not something many women want to hear while they are making out with their boyfriends. I think he then needs to let her know what he wants. I think all Amy really needs to know is that she is loved by Sheldon and she is his number 1 over science fiction and super heroes. I can't blame her for that. The timing is terrible because Sheldon has made so much progress so this is why I think it won't last long. Raj and Emily I don't know what to think there. I like Emily and I would love to see Raj end up with someone good for him. But this graveyard thing is weird but I want to see them explore the relationship just a little more. She thought she was on the equivalent of an adult theme park ride with Zach. It was all pretend; a joke. I think a wedding with Leonard would be entirely different and more dignified (they can do that in Vegas---it's not all Elvis & sequins). I sort of like the idea of an elopement. Just them. I 100% agree with all of the above. And I expect all the finale stuff to be dealt with in the first 2 episodes of season 9. They've never spent more than that resolving their cliffhangers and I don't expect that will change here. There is no way Leonard and Penny will get married in Vegas. Their wedding is still too much of a huge milestone for it to be tackled that way. So I have zero worries on that front. Shamy also will resolve their bump within the first few episodes cause the writers, being on a 2 season deadline now, will want to keep pushing them forward. Do I think Sheldon will propose next season? Yes but probably not til February sweeps or the finale. As for Raj, no idea. Same for Bernie, Howard etc. The finale didn't really give much indication of what to expect from them. No malarkey. Absolutely. Go to any chapel in the larger casino resorts on the Strip; they're very nice, and can provide a beautiful, dignified wedding. There are also off-strip places that can provide the same, like Chapel of the Flowers (which is one my wife and I looked at when we were originally planning a small Vegas wedding, before logistics forced us to have a small ceremony and reception at home). Vegas gets a bad rap for "cheesy weddings," and there are indeed plenty of cheesetastic places for it, but it's not at all difficult to have a nice wedding there. I think that whole storyline was ridiculous anyway because she knew people that had gotten married there in the season 5 finale but then thought her wedding was fake. I just think that Penny wouldn't want to have her wedding without her friends and family especially since she specifically said she wanted to wait for her brother to get out of jail.... Emily's background is an afterthought. In comparison to when Amy and Bernadette came in, come next season there are many episodes showing their character backgrounds. I think the Koothrappali-Yvette the vet pairing would have produced more comedic plots. Laura Spencer is incredibly beautiful; however.. I don't know... I mean the casting directors did a phenomenal job of casting Mayim and Melissa for their respective roles; they're so believable that if Amy and Bernadette are real people, they will look and act like how Mayim and Melissa respectively play their roles.
