Are those GIFs from The Goldbergs? It's funny when I recognize something in that show, because I can then pin down "it was 1980-something" to a specific year, such as the episode that was a homage to Ferris Bueller's Day Off. :)

Trivia: I used to own the exact same top-loading JVC VCR that's shown in the opening credits, complete with oversized colored buttons and a remote control that was attached, not cordless. It was the first VCR I ever owned, abandoned only when I purchased my first hi-fi stereo VCR from Radio Shack (which I got with my employee discount).

The first VCR I ever saw was a top-loading machine that my college bassoon teacher had.  I don't remember why he was using it, but I remember that machine.

I still have and use a VCR, but I did buy it in this century at least (to replace some older machines that I had...) and I still have the regular DVD player I bought back in 2000 or thereabouts.

I want a blu-ray, though...

I love The Goldbergs; it's a great show and one of my favourite sitcoms behind TBBT. It's still so young as well (only in its second season) so hopefully that show will become my new favourite in a few years when TBBT finishes (provided it doesn't continue until Season 12!)

Tonight might be the last episode we see Emily because Her and Raj  have been dating for a year and I don't remember her having dinner with the whole group she did hang out with Leonard Sheldon and Amy in the zombie house episode but I think Raj is realizing she is too creepy for him she is too much in to the horror scene

she met the whole group in the hook up episode. If the taping report is correct they don't break up.

She had dinner with them in hook up. The episode which she and Penny realized they hated each other.

That is the only time I can remember.

That's my point she is only been with the whole group once she has not become a regular like Amy and Bernadette have which leads me to think her future on the show is not set in stone

i could be wrong but i don't think Bernadette and Amy were permanently to their first season either.

Or, she hasn't been seen much on the show because the actress has been busy with other projects (like the TV series Bones, for instance).

Not everything is gloom and doom, people, and sometimes a cigar is just a cigar. Honestly, some of the leaps you guys make here would be too much for even Evel Knievel to attempt in his Skycycle X-2.

I think that all the relationships (except for Howard and Bernie) were shaken up, or potentially shaken up--questions were asked, the degree of commitment was questioned (or determined), but nothing was really resolved, which I think is interesting.

I don't know if they'll solve everything right away, but they've got some good stuff to work with.  And I don't think it has to all be about angst, but it makes for a good cliffhanger.  I don't think it was melodramatic or soap opera-ish.

I think it was funny up until the moment of truth for each couple, or "family".  Howard and Bernie chickened out on telling Stuart to leave.  Raj chickened out of breaking up, or at least questioning the relationship further, when the moment came up.

I don't know that he's afraid of her, but that he didn't want to make her mad at him.

Leonard and Penny hit a bump and have to decide how big a bump it is and whether it's going to make a real difference in where they are.  I don't think it's a deal-breaker, but Penny may want to take a step back herself, or at least wait and have a wedding when she's not in a bad mood.  No one wants a wedding like that.

I do think that Leonard was careless to give in to kissing that girl, but I think the implication is that they were all drunk a lot and that's what happens sometimes when you get drunk and loosen your inhibitions and make stupid choices.  But I think it was right of Leonard to be honest with her.  I mean, he felt compelled to be honest with Priya about kissing Alice, and I don't think he ever loved Priya as much as he has always loved Penny.  He just has very bad timing.  I think he probably should have told her closer to when it happened, but maybe he had convinced himself that it was not a big deal, and then as time went on, and they got engaged, it seemed less and less important.  But now that they're about to pull the trigger, he feels compelled to clear the decks.

Bad timing.

I think Penny will get over it and not hold it against him, but it's not something she wanted to hear on her way to the chapel.

And the Shamy...aww.

I think that they do have a sort of uneven quality to their relationship, even with as much as they have in common.  And I do think that Amy has been trying hard to find the balance between pushing Sheldon forward and yet not pressuring him to move forward faster than he can tolerate.  And while he's made progress, he is also still frustratingly self-focused.  I think it's interesting that he wanted to keep "necking like hooligans under the bleachers"--he's starting to get the hang of it!--but he still doesn't understand, perhaps, is how to show Amy what he says he feels.  He's inexperienced at thinking about anyone but himself, and maybe he just doesn't know what it means, like telling Penny he was thinking about Amy just because he was thinking of her opinion about the TV show.

But was he thinking about how much he loves her, or what it feels like to kiss her, or whether or not he wants more physical interaction?  If he was, he unfortunately didn't tell her that.

Although they've had some great progress in some ways, I can see Amy letting his distracted state cause her to think of all the times he's done stuff like that, rather than the good things.  As good as things are, he still does stuff like this and maybe she just doesn't know where she falls in the ladder of his priorities.

I can't wait to see how it all plays out.

I think another reason Leonard might not have told her right away is that the last time they saw each other, Penny had finally gotten to the point where she could tell Leonard, "I love you" unconditionally, something that she had struggled with till then.  It was the strongest their relationship was at that specific time.  So I could see how Leonard might have been hesitant to tell her about that after how far Penny had come.  Sure he shouldn't have waited this long. But maybe he kept getting deeper in the rabbit hole that specific times in their relationship he didn't see as ideal.

I don't want to give off the idea that I see Leonard as vindicated of his actions, I don't. I'm just saying I can see specific in-character circumstances on why he didn't come clean about it sooner. But I don't see where he's done anything that makes him beyond redemption.

The way the interaction unfolded I can see why Leonard told Penny but I think it was the wrong thing to do.  All he accomplished was unburdening himself and   shift burden and disappointment and anxiety over to Penny. It was not just bad timing it was also selfish.

And why did not leonard feel the need to *confess* this when they got engaged.....was'nt that the starting of something new....

anyway starting of the next season....penny and leonard come back without marrying....

and then Penny and Sheldon have a heart to heart...and console each other.....

while leonard whines somewhere else....... the show made it pretty clear by now that Leonard is a whiner.... a cheating pathetic one at that too...

So he should've said nothing, and go in to the marriage tainted?  I won't disagree on speaking up sooner, but not speaking up PERIOD?  I don't agree with that at all.

Why wouldn't Penny go to someone like Bernadette who would understand marrying someone who kept a secret or two from you?  Going to Sheldon makes ZERO SENSE to me.

A character who whines sometimes doesn't make the character a whiner all together.

And cheating?  Leonard made it clear that he put a stop to it.  Also NOTHING in the episode indicates who instigated the kiss.  So as far as I'm concerned, Leonard's biggest crimes are doing something stupid while drunk (which we DON'T have a clear idea on everything that happened), and not speaking up about it sooner.

I like Molaro's comment in THR that was published after the show ran.  When asked if fans should be worried about Leonard and Penny, he said, "Yes, in a good way.".  Doesn't sound like they plan on breaking them up to me.

On another note, does anybody know if Casey Sanders was busy this season?  I miss that Bernadette's dad didn't make an appearance this season, especially since he's right up there with Leonard, Sheldon, and Howard's respective mothers as far as my favorite of the parents.

Well, that played out way more emotional that I was expecting on all fronts (in good and bad ways). I totally agree with Kerry, Michy and Koops on their posts as this is how the episode played for me too.

Lets just go with my overall impression of the two main couples, cause lets face it, I don't actually care about the other plots as they were just kind of in the way to be honest.

Lenny: I was so happy to see them finally excited about their wedding and seemingly facing their fears of just taking the plunge. Then Leonard for reasons which still baffle me, opened his mouth and the kiss infidelity came out and even though I knew it was coming it was still WTF. Penny looked devastated and unimpressed (rightly so). AND THEN HE KEPT TALKING and I just wanted to shove duct tape over his mouth because SHUT UP, OMG JUST SHUT UP. Dude, adding details and quantifiers about the kiss IS NOT HELPING RIGHT NOW. So I don't think the Vegas wedding will actually happen. The aftermath of that revelation is not over by a long shot. They won't break up but I wouldn't be surprised to see Penny kind of deciding to take a step back like Amy.

Shamy: Firstly, they heavily cut that makeout scene. It was still good and holy hell hot for them but knowing there's all that extra good footage of them going at it makes me want to scream YOU EDITING BASTARDS. But that's besides the point. I loved how their entire scenes played out in this episode. It was very clear to me that they wanted you to feel for Amy throughout the whole episode by the fact that they kept emphasizing Sheldon's cluelessness all the way to the tag scene. And it was clear as day that this wasn't about physical intimacy issues for her. She just wants to know that he's into this relationship as much as she is, that he thinks of her as much as she does him. And that's totally justifiable and understandable, even though its Sheldon. Then the tag scene flips it on its head and you can't help but feel for Sheldon too cause HE HAS A DAMNED RING! All the nuances of that tag scene just floored me, the facial expressions all of it... ugh! It may sound like a break up in some interviews but I honestly don't think it played that way. I really played as Amy wants to examine what they're doing and figure out if this is something SHE actually wants still. And I love it because Sheldon has never been faced with this before. He's always just assumed that she would be there no matter what because she always has (infuriatingly so actually). So what do they do now? This is a huge wake up call for both of them.

I'm so excited to see how all of this is going to play out and I think it will take til November sweeps to have everyone back on track.

But gosh this is exciting.

"Isn't this exciting!!!"
