Agreed!  I do NOT want a "Friends" series finale with Lenny moving away and buying a house & announcing a pregnancy.  That is 100% the same as Friends and our writers are better than that.

I really cannot say how it will all end, nor do I know what I really want to see happen.  Right now, I do expect something big for Shamy for the 200th episode.  Agreed Amy is not a lead, but Sheldon is (to a point many people complain about---not just the lead but by far the main focus of the show majority of the time).  And since 100th wasn't Sheldon at all....I'm expecting 200th to be his.  And in turn that makes it Shamy.

A year ago the thought of Shamy engaged seemed so far away...but now...they could possibly beat Lenny to the altar, who knows.  If the finale showed us anything, its that both couples who basically had a pretty happy season as couples still have work to do...

And Chrismo, as somebody who sat in on the CBS upfronts and saw how many clips featured Shamy & how the media community (not hardcore fans) are interested in the Shamy relationship....no, viewership would NOT nosedive if Shamy got married before Lenny.  If anything general viewership is pretty intrigued by Shamy (shamy sex more than shamy wedding).

Furthermore....didn't we all become fans of the show as a whole and THEN developed our ship fandom matches.  Even if my ship wasn't getting their fair share (which happened a few season ago) I still watched and I'm imagining most fans would continue to watch as I do enjoy all the cast plots & stories.

In the 200th episode, Sheldon and Howard confess their secret, undying love for each other, run away, get married, and join a hippie commune.

You heard it here first!!!

wait is that before or after Raj & Stuart elope Martin?

They'll never get to that point. Emily will go all Sweeny Todd on them first. (See what I did there?)

'Secret'?

Well, not to us, anyway.

Well Shamy had a pretty good season 8 and I don't think the focus on Shamy will continue as much as last season there are others characters to grow and the bbt is not all about them. Sheldon in a way. I agree with Chrismo that non- Sheldon and Shamy fans will begin to get bored and may stop watching it as it will become predictable.

I mean, all that animosity must conceal sexual tension, surely? And Howard's saliva has already been all the way down Sheldon's throat. So on some level, he's gotten further with Sheldon than Amy has.

I'll get my coat.

oh come on...if we are going to use baseball/sports references, Lenny had 1 bad season, that's it.  100% would not consider them the "underdogs".... Even my Yankees don't always have great seasons. Lenny "won" the World Series the year before and made it to the post-season almost every single season...

and how the finale left things I'm pretty sure Lenny will have more storylines into season 9.

So who won the world series this year? Episodes wise Shamy. Final I go for a draw. :)

A better baseball analogy would be that the entire run of the series is a single game, with each season being an inning. (It's not perfect, of course, as this particular game will have more than nine innings.) In practically every game, a team can have a bad inning; in this case, Lenny had one bad inning out of eight. The game itself is still being played, with the important thing being how the game ends. If both Shamy and Lenny are married by the series finale, we can call the game even, as this particular game allows tie endings. :)

Big_Bang_Theory_Finale.jpg

Question: As a fan of The Big Bang Theory from the very first episode, I could never imagine myself ever thinking about not watching it. But I do not think it is too much to say that the season finale was the worst episode of the series. Disappointing in almost every respect. The Sheldon that we see in the beginning of the episode (as a man who cannot understand the significance of an anniversary) is left in shock, holding a ring to boot, when Amy finally decides she needs a break from his madness. Are we really left to assume that the man who is unable to understand the purpose of an anniversary dinner was ever close to even contemplating marriage? The whole storyline made no sense to me, was not funny, and grew tiresome.

Speaking of tiresome: While I actually liked the discussion between Sheldon, Penny, and Leonard, after a while it just seemed long-winded and pointless. We finally get to the point where they decide to elope (not surprising given all the gossip about the episode the last several weeks), but than they ruin it by having them partake in a stupid, silly fight that lacked humor and sense. A kiss from years ago (that he did not enjoy) is the basis for now wondering if they are going get married? Over to Raj. I have found no joy in following his storyline with his new girl, and perhaps it is just me, but eating food and having sex in a graveyard is just not funny. I am not sure where the storyline is going (I suspect nowhere), and this episode made me enjoy it even less. Finally: Howard. Although I understand and really didn't have a problem with his week-after-week griping about Stuart, I am glad there isn't another week's episode to watch next week because I have taken all that I can stand. What I think I disliked most about the finale's arc is, once again, it seemed to lack the humor and laughs we often associate with Big Bang. Let me boil this rant down to two questions: In your mind, was this the worst episode thus far? And am I reading the Shamy plot line correctly? A friend told me she didn't thing he would propose, he just wanted to let everyone know he had a ring? I do not know. The hype about this episode was that more than one couple's fate would be questioned, but could they have done it all in a worse way? — Sean

Matt Roush: My feeling in reading this rant (which I had to judiciously trim) is that I'm glad you got this off your chest, but surely even this sort of disappointment isn't so extreme as to force an Amy-level break-up with a show that typically brings you so much pleasure. Every show is entitled to an off episode, although heavily hyped season finales and premieres do carry a special burden. I wasn't nearly as put off, though it did give me pause. The jokes in the first part, with Sheldon wondering whether to commit to The Flash (as opposed to Amy), were quite funny, and the subplot with Howard and Bernadette trying to evict Stuart clicked as well. Fair points on the strained Leonard-Penny argument, and the Raj subplot was so inconsequential I can't see getting too bent out of shape over that. But Sheldon and the ring: a legitimate subject for debate. Amy's break-up (over Skype) was well-handled, well-played (by the amazing Mayim Bialik) and touching, and I might have preferred Sheldon responding by going to the TV, cuing up The Flashand realizing something was missing: Amy. The ring needs to be explained. Is he merely copying Leonard's behavior, or has he had an actual epiphany we're not privy to? The producers were obviously aiming for a big emotional moment here, and maybe succeeded too well. But there's no way I won't be tuning in Mondays in the fall (when Big Bang is temporarily displaced by Thursday Night Football) to see where things go from here.

It's rants like that which confirm, in other peoples' minds, that fans are obsessive crazies that should be wrapped in straightjackets, thrown in a padded room, shot to the gills with Thorazine, and fed warm pudding for the rest of their lives. Posting something like that in one of these forums is one thing, but throwing it out in public? :shok:

The producers of the show have next to nothing to do with how CBS is promoting them.

Actually my point which I guess you missed is that CBS network was showing mainly Shamy clips to a room of media buyers & sellers to promote their product. And many in the audience did "aww" with the ILY and such. My point is they know what sells....(in response to the comments that a Shamy wedding before Lenny would cause ratings to nosedive).

Fair enough, but I don't think that necessarily means tptb are determined to make the show shamy centric for the rest of the series.

Well, Martin fans are entitled to feeling however they want, but you're right in your assessment that they should be prudent where they post and understand that not everybody is as passionate as they are about something, in this case TBBT. I do think however that it is pathetic how the writers are pandering to the public at large while not respecting the story that they've been telling so far, but I digress. All appreciations aside as to how overboard we might or might not consider this fan to be he/she makes a very good point : are we supposed to believe that a guy who's oblivious to his girlfriend's feelings when he's thinking about the "wrong" things during a kiss on their anniversary is really seriously contemplating marriage , and already bought a ring? Based on what? The writers really puled it out of their butts. I was there neatly tucked away, right next to the "let's created totally artificial Lenny tension"

I really miss the days when the writers really tried. They seem to be going through the motions.

Was there a point in posting that rant from TVInsider? Why read reviews of something we have seen?

The only one I would like to see go back to his original self, at least a little, is Howard. It isn't only that he had changed the most, but I don't like Bernadette anymore. And it really annoys me that writers seem to insist how he was some sort of huge perv before he met her so they would justify them staying together. What else can they do, since they have no similar interests and they could barely talk on their first date, only deciding to start dating in order to piss their mothers off. That is not a healthy relationship but at least it was bearable until this season.

This is way too harsh in my opinion (unless it is joke, which could be). People have a right to express their feelings about that matter. And this forum is a public forum-you can't post without making an account, but you can view most of the threads.

I don't agree with most of the article, but the finale left me pretty disappointed.
