If they dare do a musical episode, I'LL grab a torch and pitchfork, and lead the rest of you into storming the WB gates!

Aw, come on now. You seriously don't want to see Raj and Emily do it in a cemetery while zombies dance to 'Thriller'?  While Howard and Sheldon sing 'True Love'? And PAmyDette found a commune and sing 'Let It Go'?

Fair enough, but I don't think that necessarily means tptb are determined to make the show shamy centric for the rest of the series.

To paraphrase Howard wollowitz, "Grow up Martin, nobody likes that truth stuff on the internet." :p

I don't think I ever suggested the show become Shamy centric for the rest of the series. In fact I even suggested we will see more Lenny in season 9.

The only thing I suggested was that 200th would be Sheldon aka Shamy focused. Thats hardly the series just 1 episode.

I think the writers also are concerned in selling their product...maybe they were much more free in the early seasons than now to make their own artistic choices...i started watching the show because i'm a mathematician and i was enchanted that words and formulae i use at work could be used in a comedy band be fun too! But i see also the writers point to focus some attention in relationships and characters personal growth in order to catch more casual viewers...the main couples now are two but if you check everywhere online it is clear that the most followed is shamy, not only by the fandom, just for the casual viewers. That's why the focus was on them this season. This does not mean in my opinion that the other characters will be negletted next season..for example, i think Lenny will be pretty fine because there have been so many complains about show this season went for them....it's business after alla!

I think episode 200 will be Leonard/Penny centric, as episode 150 was focused on Sheldon/Amy.

Hokie3457 I think kerrycec03 may have a point. The show is more about Sheldon now, season 8 seemed that way, so it makes sense that the 200th episode would be more about him than Lenny. Maybe it will be the Shamy engagement or Amy will move into 4A. If you think that way, Lenny could actually come back married, the beginning of season 9, then they could go through a difficult time of adjustment, maybe close to a divorce, since the writers love conflict between those two and it would allow them to write the new insightful Sheldon to fix things. Anyway it could lead to Amy moving in to 4A in episode and/or getting engaged. It actually does sound like a plausible scenario. I'm not to hopeful on the treatment Lenny will be getting from now on so them having just a Las Vegas wedding would not surprise me.

SRAM, I have faith that Leonard & Penny will receive more attention in season 9-not sure it will be completely smooth sailing. I've been going back and forth on a Vegas wedding. Part of me would not mind it at all.

TBBT has this practice of having a character "leaving" during the finale. This season 8, 2 characters "left", not by physical, but emotional. Penny "left" her excitement on eloping, and probably "left" her other emotions as well, upon Leonard's confession of his emotional betrayal and Amy "left" Sheldon so she can have time to think about their relationship.

I'm not a Lenny, but if the writers pushed through to begin season 9 with them getting married in Vegas even with Leonard's emotional dalliance hanging like a sword over their heads, I will be pissed. Really pissed. I like Leonard and Penny, and I've always wanted them to get married, but not with an emotional grudge. Also, a proper wedding like how Wolowitz and Bernadette had would be sweet. There are lots of interesting plots and comedic goldmines surrounding the Lenny wedding that they can tackle, and I hope for sake of ratings or interest the writers wouldn't hang on to the Lenny drama.

I'm obviously very enamored with Sheldon and Amy, but I wouldn't want them to get back together easily just for the sake of ratings. Shamy on a break has lots of interesting and comedic plots as well.

The way the writers are treating Lenny I expect anything. In general it seems as if they are no longer interested in telling their story, the one that made sense, the one based on years of canon, the one that made them special, and unlike ant other couple on TV. They are instead, apparently interested in artificial drama, contrived stories and quick and cheap laughs. When we get a good Lenny episode it seems more a coincidence than a plan.

Things aren't ALWAYS what they seem.  Given what we saw of Shamy this season would YOU HAVE GUESSED Amy would've broke up with Sheldon in the finale?  And given the previous two seasons of how slow Shamy had moved would you have expected relatively more progress to be made by either of them in season 8?

There's no guarantee that Shamy will be prevalent in season 9, just because they were the most prevalent for ONE SEASON.  And I certainly don't see how any of the couple's stories have been contrived or artificial.  That doesn't necessarily mean I think they are always of good quality, all the time though.  YMMV.

Absolutely. They have to stretch out the show for two more seasons and contrived drama helps them do it. The last 4 seasons have been the "Amy Pursues Sheldon Show". Now it'll be the "Sheldon Pursues Amy Show" for at least one season.

By having dramatic evolving relationships they have written themselves into a chronological trap. It works for short run situations, but this show hasn't got the legs to run like the Simpsons, where no one grows up. Middle aged physicists picking up their kids from the Caltech crèche is where season 12 would put them. Or they blow things up, big time. Hmm, how could they do that. I know, a confessed secret.

It seems to me they were not interested in doing episodes about the engagement or we would have seen some of that by now. I'd say they will actually go through with an elopement at some point or they will spend another season without a date set and possibly just move in together or they will each grow individually but not so much as a couple. Given all the proposals before one stuck we might now go through a series of attempted elopements. Penny is not a planner (except behind the scenes some place with her financial guy) shes a doer and very independent when she can be.

I think the writers do what they can to ensure the show is quite unpredictable and has stuff that is unexpected. On the other hand the main cast is set and the most central characters don't change much or fast (with the possible exception of Penny). That was my theory before 8.24. Don't know exactly what's up with Leonard yet.

Not sure what's going to happen in season 9, but I hope to see Lenny working out their trust issue without third party interference. I also hope there is more wedding planning. I don't want them to elope, I want their friends to be there and their families. I feel like episode 200 will be big, but not sure for which couple or character(s).

I think Season 8 was to Sheldon centered and Lenny appears to have been cast aside. It seems like everything centers around Sheldon. I get tired of how Sheldon focused the show has gotten. Sheldon can be very funny but I find Howard to be even funnier at times as well as Raj. However, as I have said before it was the relationship between Leonard and Penny that drew me into the show, not Sheldon and certainly not Shamy. I like the character that Amy has become, but it is not the story that attracted me. I mam really uncomfortable with the situation that they place Lenny in at the end of this season.

As for the quality of the writing, I think that it has gone down since season 7. I do not think this show will go past season 10, in fact I think they should have ended it at season 7 or maybe this year and leave people wanting more.  If they continue on the path that they have been on beginning with season 7 and focus on Shamy and Shenny the whole time then I think by the time we get to season 10 there will be a lot of people who will be glad that it finally came to and end.

Fortunately for a lot of us who have enjoyed seasons 7 and 8 the people in charge of TBBT are not listening to you.

When I stop liking something I stop watching.

They are on a break, not broken up. There is a difference. But I agree with season nine predictions.

You are correct, however there is two ways to look at being a couple. The could be "together" yet written so badly that we don't care anymore for the couple, so they might as well be broken up, or the writers can put some of the seasons 1-3 magic back into them.

:icon_eek: gag...   ...because that's the way relationships work?     Perhaps the honeymoon is over for those two. The new relationship glow replaced with the long term relationship familiarity.

But I would really expect that a few years after the marriage, not before.
