3ku11 Posted June 27, 2014 Posted June 27, 2014 Penny could play the Broadway version of a Streetcar Named Desire, Stella! haha Footnote: Penny plays Stella.
Tensor Posted June 27, 2014 Posted June 27, 2014 Topically, a revival of Hair? LOL  I know someone who would be much better playing the blond Sheila in Hair.    As far as Penny's Broadway roles, let's hear it for Hokie3457, who has had Penny play Blanche Dubois in streetcar, Maggie in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, and Linda Loman, in Death of a Salesman, all  in his fanfic The New York Revelations.
Nogravitasatall Posted June 27, 2014 Posted June 27, 2014 Is there really a Sheila in Hair? (I have seen it only once) That's so funny, as in Oz the word sheila is an ocker idiom for woman. Like bird in the UK. Its from the Irish name i believe. Like Colleen. But I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop, as to who you prefer for the role. I liked the idea of Penny because Leonard might have apoplexy and Raj and Howard would buy tickets for the whole run of the show, or would have once anyway. My other thought was that it was an original cast revival and everyone but Penny would be a senior.
rachelshamyfan Posted June 27, 2014 Posted June 27, 2014 I can see the show giving penny tiny roles until the series finale where she gets the chance of something big and it ends with us not knowing whether she took it
phantagrae Posted June 27, 2014 Posted June 27, 2014 (edited) While I would love to see Penny get more acting roles, there's no way she would go from killer gorilla to a Broadway play--or any play in NYC--at this point. I would still love to see the after-effects of her working her way through a bunch of small roles on TV or in commercials, coming home exhausted or with strange things in her hair or whatever. And I would still love it if Serial Apeist 2: Monkey See, Monkey Kill would have a premiere, especially if it were to take place at some run down tiny theater, with some ratty red carpet, where maybe one photographer shows up, and the whole gang goes, all dressed up, while there's a bunch of weirdo Serial Apeist fans wanting Penny's autograph. That would be perfect! Edited June 27, 2014 by phantagrae
kerrycec03 Posted June 27, 2014 Posted June 27, 2014 I agree, I do not see her heading to Broadway, but maybe a guest role on a TV show that may be recurring.....
SRAM Posted June 27, 2014 Posted June 27, 2014 I agree, I do not see her heading to Broadway, but maybe a guest role on a TV show that may be recurring..... So agree, maybe a part like Stuart has on TBBT. Big enough so she supports herself again, so money doesn't be a thing in the Lenny relationship. Penny at the opening of Serial Apeist II with a bunch of nerds in monkey costumes, trying to get autographs, would be priceless. Â I was thinking Penny and Leonard go to comic con together, maybe Leonard and Penny decide to put one day out of the week or month spare for Date night or Date Day haha. And at that point Serial Apist has become a cult hit, and a bunch of nerds recognise Penny, and they chase her and Leonard out of comic con, and Leonard's like So this is what you want? haha. And yeah I don't see Penny doing broadway permenantley, but maybe a few plays their and their. But yeah probably a recurring role in a tv series would be good. Tensor Posted June 28, 2014 Posted June 28, 2014 Penny is not going to go to broadway and do a show here or there. It doesn't work like that. The only people who do short run shows here or there, are well known actors or singers who are looking for something short range. Such as what Jim has done on Broadway. Hell, equity actors, who are not based in New York, have a tough time getting to a Broadway show. A unknown to the public actor, based in LA, with a background in TV is not getting a short term Broadway run.
3ku11 Posted June 28, 2014 Posted June 28, 2014 Then what is Penny's best option then? Either give up on acting and get a real job, or get some minor roles in some indli flicks. If Serial Apist becomes a cult hit, work on the sequel. She did get that part in NCIS, so obviously it is still possible she could get minor roles in tv shows, at least speaking parts to get paid. wowbagger Posted June 28, 2014 Posted June 28, 2014 Tricky to decide what's a wish-list and what is an actual prediction, since this entire exercise on my part is speculation anyway, but here goes:  - I'd like to see the writers treat Bernadette and Amy as characters in their own right, rather than as foils to their men/Penny. The scenes with the girls together are invariably wonderful and have added a lot to the show, but the standout scenes for me the last season were the ones with Bernie/Amy, Bernie/Leonard and-especially for its joyousness- Amy/Howard.Just delightful little vignettes that suggest a whole universe with the characters that goes on even when the show doesn't.  - Sheldon/Amy breakup. Not permanent, ideally, but-in my opinion- there are real problems with this relationship, and the writers need to shit or get off the pot with it. The writers, and Sheldon, seem to be stuck in 'quizas, quizas, quizas' with the relationship, and that indecision is poisoning a once-delightful interaction. So I'm sort of with phantagrae that Sheldon isn't a monster, but surely Amy had more fun with him when she DIDN'T need to walk on eggshells around him. So, Amy, maybe it's time for you to suggest a relationship reset, back to boy/friend/girl/friend. I, personally, would enjoy watching Sheldon and Amy try to return to being friends after acknowledging a romantic/sexual interest in each other, failing, and negotiating a new, hopefully better, normal.  - Some career success for Penny! Come on, show. It doesn't have to be instant stardom, but others have said, and I agree, that it would be fun to have Penny achieve success on a cult sci-fi show/film series.  - Romantic success for Raj! Pleasepleaseplease have Emily stick around. She's delightful, and Raj is delightful around her, and Kunal Nayyar is a cutie.  - I've said this elsewhere, but I might enjoy seeing Bernie have a 'Road to Damascus' moment about her corporate paymasters. Something new for Howard and Bernie? Something that is NOT baby-related, though you know that baby-drama is coming.  - Wedding planning humour? Seems a fairly obvious place to go, considering the proposal. Arguments over who gets to be best man, or-ahem- maid of honour? dream-casting Penny's family? A love interest for Leonard's mother? Penny having to juggle auditions with the wedding? But given the centrality of Leonard and Penny as a romantic couple, I'd be impressed if the show actually let them get to the altar with no hiccups. I think that the show is holding out for some sort of landmark episode for a Leonard/Penny wedding.

Ask Judy Greer or Kevin Sussman. From 1999 to 2012,(in addition one in 1999 and one in 2012) he averaged three TV roles or movies a year. He hasn't had any other roles besides Stuart since 2012 as he did quite a few TBBT in 2012-2013 and he's also been working on a streaming series with John Ross Bowie. This would be perfect for Penny as they wouldn't have to show her working, just coming home, which means no extra sets. She could be around all the time, unless they need her to be gone, then they just write in an audition or working. Plus, they wouldn't normally have to worry about fan recognition, but could get a joke or two out of that at random intervals. Carlos Posted June 28, 2014 Posted June 28, 2014 Cecilia, I'm sorry but I disagree that Lenny should have told Amy about going to the train station. Let me tell you why: when they went they weren't going to say good bye to him but to bring him back to the apartment. If you think about it like that there wasn't any need to tell Amy, since it was their expectation that they were all going to meet there. I also don't think it was appropriate for Amy to hit Leonard , but understandable since he was the one in front of her. It could have been anybody.
3ku11 Posted June 29, 2014 Posted June 29, 2014 For the record I never implied Sheldon was a "monster" in the literal sense. More as a figure of speech or a metaphor, he is the anti-hero of the show, egomaniacal. So a lot of the show is these people dealing with him on a daily basis, I think people on this site tend to take thing's to literally sometimes haha. She has this habit (well twice now) that she lashes out, except at the dude who is messing with her. Gee she suffers for her love. As do those around her. lol. He is a bad boy that needs fixin'. (Where is Yvette now? ) @Cecilia. Anyway, it's not Sheldon's intent to cause Amy harm. He can't help himself or work out a way to behave without hurting her. How he gets out of this I don't know, but if he is Amy's choice and she intends to land him whatever happens, in full knowledge of what he is like, then she has to know its going to be a difficult journey over the next three years, considering the preceding four. She knows the guy. If nothing changes going forward, for her it's going to be like being in "Groundhog Day" without the snow, or even "Edge of Tomorrow"-but without the cool exo-suits and weaponry. As an aside I've been watching since 2008 so it's all been real time and I've seen soooo many of Sheldon's performances. It makes me wonder if the marathoning opportunities available now intensifies or diminishes the ability to tolerate the "rinse and repeat" cycles. I know from all those years that Sheldon will mostly choose Sheldon. If one has only recently caught up then it's all fresh and change might seem possible. So, jaded, me. 3ku11 Posted June 29, 2014 Posted June 29, 2014 (edited) Sheldon's perfect match or equal is Sheldon 2.0, returning from the future to inform the original Sheldon, that he is the last hope for Humanity, the Terminator is coming  . Proton as the Terminator "Sheldon Cooper Aka John Connor that is your nickname, don't ask, Amy Foller is it? She well be your spouse in the future." Sheldon: "Do I get a nobel prize?" Proton/Terminator *Slaps Sheldon in the face* "You get Amy as your wife that's all you need to know."  Edited June 29, 2014 by 3ku11

Cecilia Posted June 29, 2014 Posted June 29, 2014 @Carlos I understand what you're saying and you're right about that. That is why I don't mind that they didn't call her to tell her he is leaving since they didn't knew but to tell her he is at the train station. The truth is that a train station is a bizzare place for someone to be even for Sheldon who loves trains so much. Lenny knew Amy was looking about him and that she was worried cause they had a fight. I think the kind thing to do would be to call her and let her know he is probably ok staring at the trains. About Amy I agree that it wasn't appropriate to hit Leonard. @Norg for me this Amy's turning point. I can get that love is blinding and she hoped that Sheldon would magically change and enjoy romance (tho I think that's not what she really wants) but for me if she keeps silent now and welcome him happily then I really don't know how to feel about them. Anyway I know he is not trying to hurt her even though sometimes he does. Also I have no idea what the things you mentioned are sorry

Anyway I know he is not trying to hurt her even though sometimes he does. Also I have no idea what the things you mentioned are sorry Here's the thing with Sheldon: I honestly don't think he's aware that his behavior and words (or lack of words/actions) hurts Amy. He might be aware that she's frequently frustrated or annoyed with him, but I don't think he makes the link that his behaviour is hurtful. That doesn't excuse it, but I think his character has been shown from day one to be someone who just isn't wired to pick up on those cues. He needs it spelled out for him. Look at any time someone is brutally honest with him: he always acts surprised but then takes almost immediate action to rectify the situation. And Amy knows this about him. Which is why as much as I would love to blame Sheldon for her being unhappy, Amy shares at least 50% of the responsability here. That woman needs to lay it all out for him, no matter how uncomfortable that is. That's the only way this relationship gets fixed and moves forward. Only once he's been made bluntly aware of exactly how she feels does Sheldon stand a chance in hell of fixing things. Sorry, a bit off topic I know but I've been rewatching alot of the older episodes and it got me thinking / re-analysing their dynamic. Kathy2611 Posted June 29, 2014 Posted June 29, 2014 I don't think he's as clueless as we think. Amy has never once said to him "I love you" but yet he knows she does. He told Stewart when he discovered the comic book store burnt down, "my girlfriend loves me so much, she wants to live with me." CaffeineBuzz Posted June 29, 2014 Posted June 29, 2014 (edited) Yeah but there are alot of external factors clueing him into that one: Penny, the Psychic, Amy (though not in those exact terms) etc. But the hurt feelings part she has been keeping more and more bottled up, with almost everyone. Sheldon should actually have a conversation with Bernadette, or Howard or even Leonard about Amy's state of mind. They've all seen the growing uncertainty with Amy's perception of where she stands with Sheldon. Penny is too close to Sheldon now, and not so much with Amy so talking to Penny won't do it this time. All this to say, he needs help to understand the full context of how she feels cause he's not getting there fast enough on his own.
