Exactly, I agree with Itwasdestined.

I also care more about what the writers have to say than the actors because they write the thing, but the problem is that the writers don't really say anything at these events because they can't spoil it. And, in any case, even when the cast was there, you always had Bill, Chuck and Steve there to answer the interesting questions about writing. You don't need every single writer on the panel, especially since the decisions come down to those three at the end of the day. People tend to forget that the lame questions are just a couple of questions at the end of the panel (which could be screened out in advance), and most of the questions before that are very insightful and interesting and I personally also like to hear the take of the actors on past scenes and moments, because, again, the writers can only talk so much without giving anything away. We got absolutely nothing from the panel last year that we didn't get in the previous 5 when the cast was there, so I don't see how a writers-only panel is better.

Completely agree with this.

Neither the cast or the writers will and can tell us about season 8.

So if the cast is (partly) present, they can tell us how they experienced during key moments, like MaJim about that first spanking, or Kaley & Johnny about Penny's ILY.

While the actors wouldn't have anything to do or say without the writers, in the end it's the actors who bring the energy and nuance to the scenes we see and it is the actors that deal with the emotions they portray, the work that is required to bring it to life, and the anecdotes about how it all strikes them--what they think about the storylines.

While the writers can tell us something about how they came up with an idea, and maybe clarify what they did or did not mean in certain moments, they rarely gets asked the specific questions--or asked in the right way--that many people might want to ask.

As long as Prady or Lorre or Molaro are there, the writers are represented. I'd still rather hear the actors talk about their performances.

Just wanted to add... I also love seeing the actors interact outside their element.  So yes, the writers are interesting but up to a point.  That's why you have those 3 EP's there at the end.  For me, my favorite part was always the cast interactions.

I'm hoping for surprises this year. :)

Maybe Jim will be the one to surprise us this year... But I ain't holding my breath.

I agree with the people who prefer to hear the writers.  We know a lot about the actors and we get to see them frequently in interviews.  I really enjoyed getting to know the writers a little bit last year for the first time.  It gave us new insight into the origin of some of the storylines--was it Eric Kaplan who went to a college party dressed up as the Doppler effect?  The writers seem like really funny nerds, people I'd love to hang around with.

Please don't make the statement "nobody wants to see them" as though it's a fact.

Here are some questions I'd like to ask the writers (I forget if some of these might have been asked last year, so please forgive me if they're repeats):

  • What is the usual process for writing an episode?
  • How much do the scripts typically change between the read-through and the taping?
  • In "The Closet Reconfiguration," did you have in mind one of the letters as the "real" one?
  • What is the funniest thing that has ever happened in the writers room?
  • How much does the network interfere with the writing?
  • Have there been stories you wanted to tell but couldn't for whatever reason?

I am sure Craig will be fine.  He is really good at improv.

On another note...Thor is now going to be a woman in Marvel comics...call me stunned.  How do you take one of the beloved comic characters that women swooned over and now make them a woman?  UGH!    http://www.thewrap.com/marvels-thor-is-now-a-woman-comics-studio-announces/

Has Craig even seen the show? I remember from his interviews with Jim it doesn't seem like he's ever watched it :p

I'm sure he's watched it. He's had a TBBT night on his show, (in the fourth season) where all the guys showed up. It was just after Kaley's accident and they wished her a get well. There was also a couple of skits. One on his stage and another where he was applying to be a roommate to Sheldon and Leonard.

Yep..plus he has seen a lot of clips over the years because every time a cast member has come on, a clip is played from the show.   I am sure he has seen a few full episodes but may not be a regular viewer.

It was too funny when Craig asked Jim if he'd ever made out on the show and Jim just "You're not watching" xD

But it was in season two so yeah Craig is probably a bit better updated now!

Won't last. It'll be like Captain America being Nomad, changing Wonder Woman's costume and making Superman an energy being after he came back from the dead. Thor has been different earth men before and Beta Ray Bill was and still is an alien version of him. Beware the wrath of Comic fans! Love to be at a Marvel panel at Comic Con explaining this one. Could be an episode of Big Bang this season following up on the Bakersfield Thor comic discussion by the girls. Penny thought Thor was hot. She won't be happy with the decision!

Does anybody know if the panel is being broadcast live online somewhere, or when it will be on yt?

They typically do not braodcast live and I have not seen anything stating they are this year so I would say no.   The YT varies, but last year they were up fairly quick and I think they year before they were as well.  I would say either later that day or the next day at the latest.  They will be posted here when they are up.
