Just crawling out of hiding to let y'all know that I have secured tickets to the 8.01 taping. :) Anyone else going?

Here are some helpful tips and information for getting tickets:

Where to get tickets:

Audiences Unlimited

When to get tickets:
Tickets are available thirty days before the taping at approximately 8:30 am PST, but they can go up as early as 8am. It does vary. Click here to see what time it is in Los Angeles right now so you know how that compares to your time zone. (That's 9:30am Mountain, 10:30am Central, and 11:30am Eastern.) Make sure to only submit for one ticket at a time, one for each name in your party. These are the dates that tickets will be available and for which shows:

July 7 → 8/5/14 (CANCELED)

July 14 → 8/12/14 (sold out)

July 21 → 8/19/14 (sold out)

August 4 → 9/3/14 (sold out)

Where to fly into:
Use the Matrix website to search flights out of and into multiple airports (if you have several options) as well as multiple travel dates to find the cheapest and best option for your travel.

  • Bob Hope Airport (BUR) is located at 2627 N Hollywood Way Burbank, CA 91505, and is 4.2 miles away from the Warner Brother studios, but flights to this airport may be more expensive, less frequent, or unavailable. But it is an option to consider.
  • Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) is located at 1 World Way, Los Angeles, CA 90045, and is approximately 25.8 miles away from the Warner Brothers studios, but it is more likely to have better flight options, possibly better prices, and certainly more options for international travelers. Downside is its distance from Warner Brothers and travel to and from LAX can be brutal on weekday rush hour times, so be sure to allow a lot of time for travel.
  • **Southwest Airlines allow you to change your flight dates with no penalty, so if you are concerned about booking flights in case your taping is rescheduled or canceled, this is a good way to go! (thanks delsino for this information) Read their refund policy here and their no change fees policy here.

How to travel:

  • SuperShuttle: Service to and from LAX and BUR. Cheaper than a taxi. You can arrange for it to pick you up anywhere and take you to the airport for when you need to arrive for your flight. You can also arrange for the shuttle to pick you up for free from North Hollywood Station if traveling to Bob Hope Airport in Burbank.
  • Primetime Shuttle: Service to and from LAX and BUR. Similar to the SuperShuttle, prices may vary between services, so check them both and see what's best for you.
  • Rent a car: Both LAX and BUR have car rental services at the terminal.
  • Uber/Lyft: These are apps you can download on your mobile phone. They are cheaper than taxis as they use local drivers (vetted by the companies) to pick you up and drive you to your destination for a price lower than cab fare. You can use this for local transportation between destinations or even to the airport if necessary.
  • Public Transportation: The 222 Metro busline between Sunland and Hollywood/Highland station stops right outside of Gate 3. Other buses within walking distance are nearby as well, depending on your point of origin.

Where things are located:

  • Line up for Big Bang Theory Taping: Gate 3, Warner Brothers Studios, Burbank, CA (approx. 4301 W. Olive Ave, Burbank, CA 91505)
  • Warner Brothers VIP Tours (approx. 3400 Riverside Dr Burbank, CA 91505)

This is the view from across the street. If you drive, you will pull into the garage where it's marked on the right. The middle section is where the elevator and stairs from the garage come out. The left is where you will go line up early in the day. (Please note: the line does get moved inside around 3:30pm or so. That will be straight through that entrance with the elevator/stairs.)

Here is a close up of the gap in the trees where you will enter to find the line in the parking lot.

This is directly across the street from where you enter for the line. Good landmark and photo opp!

This is what the line will look like when you arrive. The line starts at the benches and snakes back around the sidewalk. Please note: if the line is outside, it is standby AND guaranteed TOGETHER. Audiences Unlimited will split the line when they arrive around 3:30 and move you inside.

I'm not sure, it all depends. I've been able to get roundtrip tickets between Connecticut and Los Angeles for as cheap as $278 depending on how far out you buy them and when. I think September is a good cheap month to fly, possibly October as well. March is also a good time to fly when it's cheap. I definitely wouldn't fly in summer or winter months (they might not film much then anyway). Check matrix.itasoftware.com for multiple to/from airports (fly to LAX or BUR) as well as multiple airlines and dates and you can check an entire calendar of flight dates to see what's cheapest. You can stay in hotels pretty cheap in Burbank, or Casa de Michy has a couch. :)

Thanks for the website Michy. I'm planning on flying from Philly to LA if I'm lucky enough to get a ticket. ( I might as well have to eat instant noodles for months after spending money on a plane ticket)

I'm going to 8.02. I put my plane ticket on a credit card and I'm just pretending that's ok. ;)

From Philly, if you're willing to stay 3-5 nights, it looks like I can find round trip plane tickets for $316-322 for any of the September tapings. Prices might go down though, they always fluctuate.

Is it possible to go back to Philly on the day after the taping?

Yep! It's just a matter of flying out on Saturday and then leaving on Wednesday after a Tuesday night taping.

Sept 6-10 for $329 (taping on Sept 9)

Sept 20-24 for $322 (taping on 23)

Sept 27-Oct 1 for $316 (taping on Sept 30)

Sorry, not to totally hijack this thread, heh. If anyone has questions about flights, accommodations, local info, etc, please feel free to message me any time!

Ok so luckily I am in NY so have 4 airports to come and go from... But with hotel not sure I can sell it to my hubby (plus I have small kids)... But man oh man I would love to go

How hard is it to get tickets in the winter like around jan-February? That would be more ideal timing for me (aka a Christmas gift)

January-February might be okay, but I'm not sure if they'll be taping then. The best you can do is to just check the future dates and see if they're scheduled for that time once we get closer. Right now it's just scheduled through September.

Do they actually limit how many tapings you can go to? I want to go to as many as possible, but I don't wanna burn it all out at the start of the season and then not get to go later. Is that something they enforce or no?

They can, but that's mostly based on having guaranteed tickets. Go look at the season seven tapings report thread and look at 7.03and 7.14. There are notes at the end concerning attendance at tapings. That said, if you have standby tickets, Unless you go to a lot of tapings, you probably won't be recognized. Of course, with standby tickets, you have to be there early.
