I'm pretty sure you have to have a connection somehow or win them.

It's more of connections really. To get VIP is usually done by execs, cast, crew, studio folks, etc... Aka all people who would know if it's a big episode or not

I am surprised you got a VIP that early though.

For VIP tapings in NY it's all who you know. Getting VIP is best seats and such.

Okay. I feel like this needs to be said and I'm not sure where to say it, so I'm just going to say it in my own thread because that feels like the best place to do it.

This isn't directed at anyone in particular, but I'd like to just respond to some attitudes I've been feeling around here lately. And it's not just from one person, and it's not just toward me.

Anyone who attends a taping does so because they want to see the show and they want to have fun. They want the experience of being a part of creating an episode of a television show that means a great deal to them, and it's exciting to see it before anyone else and to be a part of the laughter that serves as its soundtrack. That said, it is not the responsibility of any one of those persons to write up a full taping report and share it with those who were not present. If they do so, it is a kindness, and it should be treated as such.

Although no NDA is signed as a prerequisite to entrance to a taping, it is quite clearly assumed that the staff of Audiences Unlimited as well as the production of the Big Bang Theory are not looking for people to write up full reports and post them on the internet the night of a taping. The fact that it happens so under the radar is pretty spectacular, and that no one has really put a stop to it even more so. However, it has been alleged that people have been banned from tapings because of doing so.

That said, it is a great risk for anyone who attends a taping to write up a taping report. While not strictly prohibited, it is still a liability and a possibility that a person, especially one who attends quite frequently, who writes full reports can be called out and possibly banned from the tapings for doing so. Therefore, members who choose to write taping reports are doing so as a favor to the other members of this site who are desperate to hear spoilers as soon as they are available, and at a personal risk to their own interests, and they are not doing so because they have any sort of obligation as an attendee to do so.

Therefore, it would be really appreciated if the attitude on this site towards members attending tapings could be "we appreciate anything you can tell us," as opposed to "we need to find someone who is responsible for getting us our taping report for tonight." No one owes anyone else a taping report, or even any tidbits, but they do so because people ask and they want to help. But it is not a requirement. It is a courtesy. So please keep that in mind when approaching members who are attending tapings to ask them for full reports.

Now, speaking personally for myself, yes, I do live in Los Angeles. And yes, I do acquire standby tickets to every single taping if I can. However, as I have said countless times before, this does not mean that I am attending every single taping. Standby means spending an entire day (a weekday, at that) at the studio waiting in line and being at the taping, and believe it or not, I am an adult with a full life. I have a job, I have friends, I have hobbies, I have volunteer responsibilities, I have freelance projects, I have personal projects, etc. In order to attend tapings in the past, I have turned down job offers, taken time off work and lost pay, and even gotten exorbitant parking tickets due to my attendance that I've been unable to contest and had to pay for out of pocket. It is not easy for me to attend every taping, and in fact, I do not want to. I like to attend if I happen to have the night off or if I happen to be free or if I have friends in town who are also attending and I want to accompany them. But just because I live in the city does not mean that it's easy for me to clear off an entire day and attend a taping so frequently. Once in a while, sure. But not every week.

Furthermore, it is not my responsibility to keep an entire community apprised of whether or not I am attending a taping. Sometimes I am not sure if I'm going until the day before or the day of (like today). It's all a matter of circumstance for me, and I like to keep my options open. That is why I like to acquire tickets to every taping just in case I am free, but I do not intend to attend them all. It is not feasible for me to do so. Especially considering that after spending all day in line and then spending four hours in the studio, I am then expected to come home at 10 o'clock at night and spend three to four hours writing a taping report and filling in members on what happened. I don't mind doing it from time to time, but it is not my responsibility to do it every week or every time there is a taping or even every time I attend. I do so because I like to, and not because I have an obligation. But I have certainly been made to feel this way.

I will do my best to inform this forum if I am attending a taping and am able to do a report. However, it is not always the case that I know far enough in advance whether or not I'm going to a taping. People who attend from out of state or out of country, of course they know well enough in advance because they have to book travel. I however do not have that, and thus I make my decisions as to which tapings I attend based on what my schedule best allows. I have an extremely erratic schedule which doesn't give much breathing room for advanced planning, and I do not welcome pressure from other members to attend every single taping and do a report every single week.

I appreciate the feedback that members like my taping reports. And as I said, I am happy to do them. But please understand that I am not able or willing to go to every single taping, and even if I do go to a taping, I might not be up for doing a report if other members are attending who are able to do so. It is a lot of effort and stress and it honestly diminishes the experience of being at a taping by a lot when you're worried about remembering every detail for everyone who will have questions that you might not be able to anticipate.

For the most part, members of this site have been patient and respectful of members doing taping reports. However, there are still undertones of pressure and expectation that attendees owe this community something by attending, and it's extremely overwhelming to be on the receiving end of it. So please, I know that everyone is desperate for spoilers when they know a taping has happened, but please have patience and respect. Attendees will be forthcoming with information if they don't feel like they're being attacked for it. And they certainly don't want to feel like they did something wrong by not alerting the right people whether they're going to a taping or not. Things happen, plans get canceled and moved, and it's not always convenient or possible for a member to keep coming back to this site to let everyone know what their plans are. At least it isn't for me. But I would like to see the courtesy and respect extended to everyone attending. Let's please keep that in mind going forward.

VIPs get to sit in the 1st row, very close to the cast when they are introduced before a taping begins. I remember myself got so annoyed because everyone stood up and I couldn't see the cast because I was in the 3rd row lol.

That would not be a safe enviornment for me. Hahah. But I desperately wish I could get my hands on one of those suckers.

Thank you, Michy!

I appreciate all you did today to try and attend the taping and all you've done in the past and will do in the future for us.   :airkiss:

And thank you to all those that are doing those reports now and in the future.

Well said, Michy. I know first hand just what a huge job it is to do taping reports, and it really does take something away from the experience when you're trying to watch and enjoy what's going on in the scenes. You sometimes miss things because you're too busy staring down at the paper you're writing on. I'm not complaining. In fact, I was very happy to do the report for the premiere and to be able to relay all the info we could remember. It's just that it really is a much bigger job than it seems. I really appreciate all the hard work you've put in for the community here. I'm really sorry you've felt pressured, and I hope I'm not a contributor to that. As much as I love getting the spoilers, I do understand that people have lives and that they also want to enjoy their experience (not to mention get some sleep at some point). Anyway, thank you for all you do. You rock!

Michy I sent you a PM but I do appreciate everything you do and sorry if we put pressure on you. By no means was that anyone's intention. I can imagine how difficult it is to do everything you do

Oh taping reports ARE a lot of work, I was more than happy to participate to give back from all the spoilers I get, if I had the means I would do it all the time for you guys! I'm sorry you feel pressured Michy, I totally understand why you might. You are the best and you give us so much more than I, personally, could ever hope for! Thank you for all you do and I'll love ya regardless of any spoilers you provide. :) thank you for trying so hard for us and for doing what you do!

Michy, I didn't know that you get or try to get standby tickets to every taping. That's why I was wondering why you wouldn't be going if you already had a ticket. For most people it's a rare occasion, so I was surprised that people were saying that you had a ticket but didn't seem to be going.

As for taping reports, I think it's easy to kind of take it for granted because between this forum and the other one, we've been spoiled and blessed to have had willing folks at almost every taping who have been kind enough to tell us as much as they can remember.

I think we've gotten so used to it that it can be hard to remember what goes into it.

Still, I don't think anyone intentionally meant to put pressure on anyone. I think it's mostly a matter of being overly enthusiastic and over-excited that makes it come across as being demanding or impatient.

Ok guys.. Goes without saying but..

I know we all do already.. But can we take another moment to appreciate all the hard work Michy puts in for us.. Not only with reports, but with this thread as well.

I don't know if anyone has noticed.. but go back to page 1 and you will find she updates the first post regularly with new information.. As well she monitors this thread, answers questions and even helps people get tickets.

She has created a goldmine of information here and put's so much of her time and effort into making tapings reality for people who never thought it would be possibility.

The girl loves the show as much as me and you. And as she said she would LOVE to attend every taping. But as well, y'all would be worried about getting banned as well. As much as we love her instant reporting, detailed reports and dedication.. we can't rely on her has the pressure does get to you.. hell 1 taping is pressure enough!!

She gets standby tickets to every taping so she can pick and choose what ones to go to, and to fit around work. Understandably, She was going to skip this week as next week she wanted to meet other users going... plus she was up until 4am sky ping with me :p. Then Mayim IG'ed. As a heavy shamy fan, understandably she was crushed. So she attempted to get in.

A lot of you know me and Michy are tight friends.. And I wouldn't change that for the world. And I am going to say publicly that she is one of the most amazing friends in the world to have. And I appreciate her for everything she does for us.. As I told her via text. She is like our drug dealer... :p

So Michy, On behalf of everyone here. Thank you for your hard work, dedication, commitment to the fandom, this forum, new members and friends. you are truly inspiring and someone I am personally proud to call friend.

Don't feel pressured to do anything which will cause you any personal risk. give as much or little as you want and more importantly. HAVE FUN GURL.

Love you Michers! x

The best thing about VIP tickets is that you get to keep your phone.

Hi Guys,

thought this might be of interest for you:

last year I was a lucky duck and got one of those VIP tickets because I sort of have connections via my job to one of the big sponsors of the show (Taping 9-5). It was a so called "Guest of Production Ticket". I had a chair with my name on and was sitting in the second row in front of the guys appartment. No need to tell you that the simple thought of it still makes me weep.....

But there seem to be different VIP tickets for real VIP's like family and friends of the staff. I had to give my phone away, but the first row not. In front of me was Kunals Brother and some friends of Mayim. She came up to talk to them and then later I saw them getting a backstage tour. I was jelous. Lots.

I would give a kidney for another chance like this, but it probably was just a wonderfull one time experience.

Thank you Michy (and everyone who helps to give us a wonderful TBBT experience). What we need to remember is that these beautiful people who do this do it as a favor to the rest of us. Remembering as much as they do is a marvel. For any of them to feel pressure to be a perfect reporter is a shame. I can't help but feel it must dampen their enjoyment at attending.

Anyway, that is my two-cents. Thank you again Michy and all who report. You add so much to this viewer/fan's love of this show.
