Thank you for the PM Tomasina, I've made the change in the attending a taping thread.

I have a ticket for the 18th. It'll be just me - I'll be over from the UK with a group, but it's just me coming to the taping. I'll be staying at the Best Inn on N Cahuenga Blvd in Hollywood. This is my first ever trip to the US, so obviously the entire nation will be very excited to see me. I'd be very grateful for any tips on the best way to get to the studio that aren't too expensive and won't be jeapardised by terrible traffic etc. And it would be great to meet other fans going to the same taping. You can't miss me - I'll be the pasty British guy with a regional accent you're probably not too familiar with being very polite to everyone.

At the moment I'm thinking of trying for public transportation - I'll look in to what the options are. But I may end up hiring a car, although the fact that everything is on the wrong side may have horrific consequences..! I understand that it's important to get there early, so if parking is only available two hours before the taping that might be a factor. And I think the LA roads would be thankful for not having me on them, what with everything being on the other side!

Uber.  It's great, and cheaper/easier than cabs.    https://www.uber.com/cities/los-angeles

I used a car, it was fine, when pulling to the parking lot I said I was going to Ellen and they let me in without a problem. My only issue was that I showed up at 12;30pm with a StandBy and they didn't let me in.

So, are our attendees in place tonight?  Are they guaranteed or stand-by?

Good luck, regardless--and have fun!

I'm going to a concert tonight, so I won't be around for a couple of hours.

Hope everything goes well for all involved!!

Too right... And I'm in another country! I remember the sheer joy of being in the studio audience - way back in 1990 - for a show we had had over here called "James Randi: Psychic Investigator". I gather James Randi is far more well-known in the US than he is here in the UK, but he had this show that ran for one season over here, taped at Granada Studios in Manchester. I say "sheer joy" because two of the celebrity guests were Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie, who were and remain two of my all-time comedy heroes. This was a long time before Hugh Laurie was House - back then he was a respected comedian and actor who had a double act with Stephen Fry, and I adored them, so to find that they were in the same room as me was mind-blowing. And I met them afterwards too! Sadly, being only 19 at the time and a bit overwhelmed, I made a bit of a knob of myself trying to be witty. But the joy of being only a few feet from them during the taping was immense.

I actually met Stephen Fry a couple of weeks ago and managed to calmly and sincerely thank him for the last 30-odd years, and he was as sweet, friendly and lovely as you could have hoped.

So, yes. Colour me excited about the 18th.

Nop! Was 48 I think and they only let about 10 in, lots of VIPs that night... Now i'm back in the East coast. Gotta plan to go back with a guarantee ticket.

I wanted to add a few more photos that I hope will help first-timers.

This is the view from across the street. If you drive, you will pull into the garage where it's marked on the right. The middle section is where the elevator and stairs from the garage come out. The left is where you will go line up early in the day. (Please note: the line does get moved inside around 3:30pm or so. That will be straight through that entrance with the elevator/stairs.)

Here is a close up of the gap in the trees where you will enter to find the line in the parking lot.

This is directly across the street from where you enter for the line. Good landmark and photo opp!

This is what the line will look like when you arrive. The line starts at the benches and snakes back around the sidewalk. Please note: if the line is outside, it is standby AND guaranteed TOGETHER. Audiences Unlimited will split the line when they arrive around 3:30 and move you inside.

Hope this helps clear up confusion about where to go! If you arrive after 3:30 or just whenever the line is inside, go in and ask which is guaranteed and which is standby so you get in the right line. Always ask if you're in the right place! I've seen too many people wait hours in the wrong place and then be really far back by the time they figure it out.
