Information For Attending A Taping

I wanted to add a few more photos that I hope will help first-timers.

This is the view from across the street. If you drive, you will pull into the garage where it's marked on the right. The middle section is where the elevator and stairs from the garage come out. The left is where you will go line up early in the day. (Please note: the line does get moved inside around 3:30pm or so. That will be straight through that entrance with the elevator/stairs.)

Here is a close up of the gap in the trees where you will enter to find the line in the parking lot.

This is directly across the street from where you enter for the line. Good landmark and photo opp!

This is what the line will look like when you arrive. The line starts at the benches and snakes back around the sidewalk. Please note: if the line is outside, it is standby AND guaranteed TOGETHER. Audiences Unlimited will split the line when they arrive around 3:30 and move you inside.

Hope this helps clear up confusion about where to go! If you arrive after 3:30 or just whenever the line is inside, go in and ask which is guaranteed and which is standby so you get in the right line. Always ask if you're in the right place! I've seen too many people wait hours in the wrong place and then be really far back by the time they figure it out.

Top Job. Have an English cookie.

Too right... And I'm in another country! I remember the sheer joy of being in the studio audience - way back in 1990 - for a show we had had over here called "James Randi: Psychic Investigator". I gather James Randi is far more well-known in the US than he is here in the UK, but he had this show that ran for one season over here, taped at Granada Studios in Manchester. I say "sheer joy" because two of the celebrity guests were Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie, who were and remain two of my all-time comedy heroes. This was a long time before Hugh Laurie was House - back then he was a respected comedian and actor who had a double act with Stephen Fry, and I adored them, so to find that they were in the same room as me was mind-blowing. And I met them afterwards too! Sadly, being only 19 at the time and a bit overwhelmed, I made a bit of a knob of myself trying to be witty. But the joy of being only a few feet from them during the taping was immense.

I actually met Stephen Fry a couple of weeks ago and managed to calmly and sincerely thank him for the last 30-odd years, and he was as sweet, friendly and lovely as you could have hoped.

So, yes. Colour me excited about the 18th.

Oh, Rick, how I envy you. Fry and Laurie are two of my faves.

My friends and I used to make our own sketches in the style of Fry and Laurie when we were at college, using a video camera borrowed from the media department. They were dreadful, of course, unspeakably dreadful, but we were 17 and thought we were hilarious. The tape has long since been lost, thankfully.

Stephen Fry's new autobiography has just been published. Highly recommended!

That's kind of sweet--and really funny! :p

she's such a big fan that I don't want to give her the link here unless she asks for it straight out, let alone links to fanfics, because I'm sure it will consume her life. She knows they exist but she's so innocent i don't think it's occurred to her that they're open to the general public of you just look. As it is I hope she doesn't pee herself with excitement when she finds out how fun tapings are.

Do what I do, and what I've modified from Sheldon's advice: no liquids after 3pm on taping day.

I have a standby ticket for the show being taped in November 11th. Although I will be in LA, I won't be able to make it as I have commitments I can't get out of. As I have a priority ticket for November 18th, this isn't a problem for me. So, if anyone would like a standby ticket for November 11th, let me know. Having looked at the tickets site, apparently I have to inform them of a name change on the ticket so it's all in order. So if you want it, it's yours. First come first served, obviously, and as I'm in the UK and eight hours ahead I can't guarantee I'll be able to check the forum regularly after 4pm GMT (8am LA time) as I'll be working - I'm doing a second job in a pub in order to pay for my two weeks in LA. Yes, that's right - I'm pulling pints for the upmarket folk of Wimbledon so I can mingle with you lovely lot!

Oh wait, do you have guaranteed for the 18th? I thought you had standby for both!

Nope, guaranteed for the 18th! I think I said so in an earlier post. It doesn't say 'guaranteed' or 'priority' on it, but it doesn't say 'standby' either (unlike the one for the 11th), so I'm assuming it's guaranteed? I hope so...!  :icon_confused:

My mistake! In that case, you are really welcome to show up any time before like 3:30 or 4:00 and you'll be good. :D

Rick, you have no idea how much I want to take you up on this. I'm in the UK too, so getting it in time wouldn't be a problem. Don't think my husband would fancy missing out though - and staying home with the baby!

Is this normal? Am trying to look at the TV Tickets. Com site and whenever I try to click on the shows it comes up with a server error message - there's no way to find out if tickets are available for anything - am I doing something wrong?

Their site seems to be down at the moment, but you can check the first post in this thread for the dates that they have planned for the moment. So far they only have it planned out to as far as December tapings. They haven't announced any January dates or beyond yet. Sometimes the site goes down on the weekend, but there won't be tickets for BBT tapings that go up for another two weeks anyway.

I need to stop looking at cheap flights from London and encouraging Myself to do this.... at least until the new year.

I think you should keep looking and encouraging yourself to do this. ;)
