Information For Attending A Taping

Now that I'm finally within range of reliable wi-fi (in the dodgiest hotel in Tenderloin, San Francisco - now I know why it was so cheap. This is not a nice neighbourhood. I daren't step outside after dark!), I can elaborate on my experience on Tuesday...

Thanks so much for sharing, Rick! It was so awesome to meet and hang out with you in the line. Really glad you were able to come and had a blast!

And don't be silly, it's not self indulgent at all. People who have never been to a taping and plan to (or who are unable to entirely) would surely love to read an account like this to get an idea of how it all works and see the joy it brings. So thanks for sharing. :)

And by the way, I wanted to mention to you - during your whole time up there, yes, most of the cast was busy with the production. But Kunal was watching and listening to you the whole time. :)

As someone who is in one or the other of those categories, I totally found it interesting to read.

Firstly, I'd like to extend my deepest thanks to MichyGeary, Kazzie, Tomasina and the others, especially Justin who I sat next to in the guaranteed line and the studio itself. You were all very kind, friendly and accommodating. It made the experience for this solo visitor infinitely more enjoyable than it might have been if I'd just turned up without the assurance of people who I "knew" being there. That's largely why I signed up to this forum, and I'm so glad I did. There's something about the shared experience of being in line with other fans, like-minded people, be it for this show or for anything else, that makes it more special and memorable. So thank you all for that!

I'm hoping that once I finish my master's degree in the spring and get settled in a "real job," I'll be able to afford to fly out for a taping and meet some of you fine people. :)

That's not what I want to put across. It's simply that, as if just being there wasn't delightfully surreal enough, that happened. I found myself giving the studio audience of The Big Bang Theory a crash course in the finer points of the linguistics of northern English dialect while the cast reworked a scene a few feet away. There's surreal and then there's this. I mean, what the... Really...??!!

Being at the taping was special enough, I was more than happy with that, but to find myself playing a small part in the overall process of putting a show together, albeit the peripheral aspect of keeping the audience going when there's a pause in the proceedings, well, how much better could it possibly have got? It's a long way to travel from my little flat in Roehampton with the noisy neighbours.

Amazing.  I'm happy for everyone who gets to experience this.   Thank you for sharing!  How cool that you got to hang out with Mark!

Oooh, that's good to hear!

Thanks for your lovely word, everyone. Still can't quite believe it happened!  :icon_razz:

I wonder if the episodes from the 12/9 and 12/16 tapings will both air in January, or if the 12/9 ep will air on the 18th, by some lucky chance...

They both will likely air in January.  The first taping of the new year isn't until the 13th, and (if they follow the pattern of the last few years) there will be two shows in January, on the 8th and the 15th.  With only one episode left (if they run one on the 18th of December), we would have to get only one episode in January, simply because the turnaround would be too short for the show on the 15th (which would tape on the 13th).  And that's not likely due to the four weeks off in December and January.     Of course, they could always postpone the episode on the 15th until the 22nd, but it seems unlikely, given the previous history of having a repeat on the week before the sweeps starts.

Here's some food for thought also.  Ignoring last year, due to the Olympics, the previous two years (2011-12 and 2012-13) they ran one show in March, one each in the first two weeks of April, then four during May sweeps (which started, and starts this year in April) .  No matter if they decide to rearrange when the episodes air, there are 12 weeks left after the end of February sweeps (19th of February) and they will have only 7 new shows in those 12 weeks.  And, that episode that tapes on the 24th of February, is one of those seven.

And this is why I always say March is the worst time for my shows. Only one show during that whole month is rough especially for someone like myself who literally couldn't care less about March Madness.

I was told today that my Christmas present is to be allowed to come to a taping. My kids and wife will be chipping in to help defray the cost. I still have to come up with the rest, so it may not be until March at the earliest. But I should make it there sometime this year. <HAPPY DANCE>

Hey, Sheldon Cooper's Additional Council of Ladies got a shout out in the new issue of TV guide!!

Big Bang was voted favorite comedy and in the blurb, Molaro mentions that, "...there were 19 women all wearing Sheldon Cooper's Council of Ladies t-shirts..."

Woohoo!
