Information For Attending A Taping

Question for you guys who have been to tapings before. I am a smoker, and while I know once IN the studio I won't be able to smoke, is it permitted outside while we're waiting in line? If I step a bit away from the groups of people, or are there designated areas that I'll have to walk to to have a cigarette? Just wondering so I can plan to bring or not bring my smokes with me.

I too am a smoker and once you are assigned your numbers I wouldn't go out for one. While waiting outside before you go in the parking garage area there is actually a section for smokers by the picnic tables. Just ask the people on line near you if they mind holding your spot

Great, thanks so much. I have 2 friends coming with me who don't smoke, so they'll hold my place no problem. Was having a mild freak out thinking I was going to be stuck all day without one… Me, nervous, no cigarettes…Not a good idea haha.

Honestly.....as a smoker....I'm so amped and all hyper in the moment that once you get your number assignments I barely think about smoking (until of course once you are released and back on the streets at like 10pm or so lol).  And in theory its an insane amount of hours without one...but I really didn't get the urge.

Oh yeah, I'm sure once it gets near to the time I won't even think about needing a smoke, it's the time leading up to that time. We're just standby's, so we're gonna be there almost all day, that's what I'm dreading. :) I'm hoping I'll be too excited to smoke, who knows, maybe it'll be the jumping off point to me quitting, God knows I've been trying forever.

So, I booked a room at the Safari Inn, which is at 1911 W. Olive, not far from WB.  Through tripadvisor, it was $109 a night plus tax.

I want to look at a map of the bus lines because I'm still not sure I want to rent a car.  If I book a tour, which I want to do soon if I decide, then I don't think I want to rent a car, as I'm trying to keep my expenses down.

Anyway, I'm getting closer!

Or maybe I'll rent a car...I'm getting a little confused trying to find info on the bus system...

phantagrae, I just saw on Twitter that Jim will receive his star on March 11....

Thanks!

I thought I remembered hearing that it would be in March--now I have to FOR SURE go find his star while I'm out there!

So, question...

Opinions on what would be the best bet/use of time.

WB tour in the morning, hunting down Jim's star, then the show

OR

Jim's star in the morning, afternoon tour, then the show

I'm afraid of running out of time down in the Walk of Fame neighborhood, and I'm wondering if it's better to do the tour in the morning, or closer to show time, since I'll be in that neck of the woods after it's done.

So, one scenario is go down to the Walk of Fame first thing in the morning, maybe grab a bite of lunch, then take the tour at 1:00 or so, finishing up around 3:00-ish, then get in line for the show right after that.

Otherwise, I think I'd be crisscrossing town, but I could do the tour in the morning, take an uber ride down to the Walk of Fame, and another one back to Gate 3 in time for the show.

Thoughts?

kerry, I don't get in until 8pm, so it would be dark.  I can get a shuttle from LAX to the hotel, but I'd have to get a ride of some sort down to Hollywood, etc.

I'd rather go in the daylight.  Besides, since I have a guaranteed ticket, I don't have to be at the taping until a bit later, so I have several hours in the morning.  I don't have much time on Wednesday morning because I need to be at LAX around 11am, so I think it would be easier to just squeeze everything in Tuesday morning.

Personally I would say do the star first and then the tour second. The tour is very close to where you check in for the taping. It doesn't make sense geographically to do the tour first and then the star second.

This is exactly what we did... hit the Walk of Fame around 10am, walked up and down for a few hours, grabbed a quick lunch (Subway) on the way to the Studios and then did the tour. We had confirmed tickets and were told to be there no later than 5pm... I think we were in line by 4:15 (1:45pm tour). It worked out perfectly!

We also parked at the gate 3 lot and then just walked over to the tour gate to save $$ on parking :)

Okay, so I booked a 12:30 tour.  I may have to go to the Walk of Fame kind of early in the morning and maybe grab an early lunch before I head back to WB for the tour, but I think it's the best use of my time.

Things are coming together!

One question about the weather--for you LA denizens.  I know this year has been a little crazy, but how warm or wet or whatever is it likely to be at the end of March?  I don't think I'll get in any pool time, even if it were warm enough, but I'm trying to think about what clothes to bring, jacket/no jacket (is it cold in the studio?)

Also, I know they tell you to leave your cell phone/purse, etc., in the car, but since I will be out and about before the tour and the show and will have no car, do I understand correctly that there is some kind of secure place they'll put your stuff if you have it with you?
