Apologies, I didn't realize I shouldn't have posted it.  I'll be better in the future. :icon_redface:

No worries, but I urge everyone who hasn't yet read the updated rules to go to "The Site" forum and read them. Also, it's a good idea to read the rules for ship zones. Those can be found in the announcement in "The Show" forum.

Maybe this question has already been answered somewhere, but is there a reason why TBBT starts taping 3 weeks earlier this season?

And will this also result in earlier airing dates?

Hey guys, I added into the original post when tickets will go up for which shows so that if you're wanting to get tickets, you know when to do so. Please let me know if I've made a mistake or if anyone has any additional information to add.

The tickets for the next available taping, August 19, will go up next Monday, July 21, at around 8:30 am PST.

Sure!

Also if anyone wants to recommend hotels/hostels at which they've stayed for tapings that are near the studio, let me know and I'll throw them in the first post as well. And any other Los Angeles locals/natives who would be willing to entertain questions from travelers, please let me know and we can have a list for reference.

I wouldn't mind writing a review of my hotels I have stayed in (granted it only been 2 LOL) and answer travel questions from an East Coaster - I fly in from NY for the tapings :) Let me know what I need to write/do

For anyone wondering, I had guaranteed tickets for the finale and I got there around noon and of the guaranteed people, I was the second to arrive. x D So I got pretty good seats, third row (first two were reserved for VIP). I think with guaranteed you can probably get there a little later, I just wanted the best seats I could, but since it'll be a big group, might as well get there early and just hang out, right? ;D And as I won't be going in but I'll be showing up, I'm happy to do pizza or food runs if anyone gets hungry.

Just to add, for the Proton Episode I had to be there by 4:30 and I got there at 4:10pm and I still got in with guaranteed tickets :)

You can write them right here, in this thread. It might be more clear if you make separate posts for each hotel.

The first hotel I stayed at was the Hilton Los Angeles North/Glendale & Executive meeting Center located at 100 West Glenoaks Blvd, Glendale, CA, 91202, USA (http://www.hiltonlosangelesglendale.com)

I chose this hotel because of its proximity to the WB Studios (about 5 miles/10 min drive) and I am a Hilton HHonors Member and could use my hotel points for free nights. They also offered the lowest number of points for a free room (around 25,000 points, which for a LA hotel not near the airport is low!) The hotel is a business hotel and has many of the amenities you would expect from a full service business hotel. The hotel is very clean, quiet, professional and has very nice view from the high floors we stayed on. The area is in a corporate area, I felt very safe and that I could walk around. The rooms were spacious and very comfortable. The hotel also offers complimentary shuttles to the burbank airport (Although I flew to LAX) CONS: Parking is an additional fee around $19/night

I would definitely stay again at this hotel :)

The second hotel I stayed in was the Hampton Inn Los Angeles Int'l Airport/Hawthorne located at 11430 South Acacia Ave., Hawthorne, California, 90250, USA  (http://hamptoninn3.hilton.com/en/hotels/california/hampton-inn-los-angeles-intl-airport-hawthorne-LAXHTHX/index.html)

I chose this hotel because I had a 6am flight after the taping and I wanted to stay near LAX so I didn't have a long morning drive. Also, I am a Hilton HHonors Member and could use my hotel points for free nights. The hotel was newly built and it was very nice. Like every Hampton Inn, it includes free breakfast and wifi which is nice. Parking is also free. The rooms are very spacious and had high ceilings. Very comfortable! The hotel itself was very updated and the decor was nice and comfortable. CONS: The location wasn't idea. I wanted to stay by the airport but in hindsight, I liked staying near burbank. After the taping I was so tired and it was a drag to drive 45 minutes back to my hotel. Especially when I wanted to come to the board and give my report! :) The location was also in a "sketchy" area and you could tell by the bars on the parking garage, the pin numbers keypads to enter and exit everywhere in the hotel and that you need your key to work the elevator etc. It was fine, I would stay again if I had to stay by LAX but if had a choice I would prefer the burbank area for a hotel.

Thanks for the post Delsino! :)

Im going to do a post for those travelling from overseas.

I am from the UK. So LA is pretty much a different world for me.

Flights:

Flight costs vary depending on time of year. Normally the cheaper months are Mid January - Early April. Then Mid September - Late November. Anything around that is more expensive especially around school / public holidays. I normally pay between £500-£800 for flights (and no I don't get discounted flights working in an airport, not to LA anyway) depending on when I go. It will tend to be cheaper from other countries because the tax here is insane.

I normally Fly British Airways or American Airlines.. Only because of my frequent flyer membership with them However my next trip will be a different airline due to a massive price difference.

The LA area and Driving:

LA is a VERY big place. If you drive then I would 100% recommend car hire with a sat nav. You can get very good deals booking with your airline.

Driving in LA is not as hard as you think. Sure there is traffic and nutters on the road, apart from that its quite straight forward. Be sure to read up on the road rules first though and take your time at first. Don't be intimidated by the local drivers and you ill be fine :)

I personally book my cars via British Airways who use AVIS as I get points. I book the cheapest car and upgrade while picking up the car (normally cheaper then paying for an upgrade while booking).

I pick up my cars from LAX. There are free shuttle buses to the car hire facilities.

Fuel is VERY cheap in the US (well compared to the US). I normally go for a Mustang and spend between £30-45 filling up the tank again.

Very important: You MUST have a Credit Card while booking a hire car. I don't know exactly why but its something they are pretty strict on.

There is a metro System in LA, A pretty good one which is incredibly cheap. My only issue with it, is that its incredibly slow.

Hotels:

LA has Hotels everywhere. They vary in price depending on where you stay. Santa Monica, Beverly Hills will be the most expensive.. I normally stay around the LAX area for a few reasons:

- You can find decent hotels with everything you need for a good price

- Its close to all the highways you need to get around and central. Santa Monica, Manhattan beach are 10-20 mins away easy

- Its by the coast

- I am a massive airplane geek

Deffo check out reviews of a hotel before booking.. I had issues on my last trip of having my credit card cloned. I stayed in this hotel for 30 mins before checking out again to find a new hotel.

I book my hotels via http://www.expedia.co.uk

I stayed in this hotel in March then again in April and found it cheap, cheerful, good wifi and very comfortable. http://www.expedia.co.uk/Los-Angeles-Hotels-Value-Inn-Worldwide-LAX.h987529.Hotel-Information?chkin=07/09/14&chkout=10/09/14&rm1=a2&hwrqCacheKey=299e0334-f4e7-4e3d-aa46-3aedd3316748HWRQ1405783140909&c=cecce40d-4737-4779-984c-bc4aea9d7183&

Big Bang Theory stuff

There are a few things you can do on non taping days which relate to the show...

Visit Pasadena:

Pasadena is located on the north east side of LA. Its a beautiful place with shopping, parks, restaurants..... And yes... The Cheesecake Factory DOES exist. although it looks nothing like the show itself. But myself, Delsino, Dana and MJ can recommend the bar ;)

You can do other little cool stuff like take a walk down Los Robles, Find locations that are mentioned in the show and eat Pink Berry....

Pasadena has is easily reachable from downtown LA union station via the metro system.

Warner Brother VIP tour:

Having don this tour twice. I can highly recommend it!. It costs $53 and takes up a good few hours. You go on tours of the outdoor sets, around the outside of the sound stages and if you are REALLY lucky, into the sound stages. You hear all about the history of the studios, filming locations pointed out to you, you are allowed to take photos (but not inside the sound stages). The tour guides will ask you what shows and films you all like to try and accommodate your taste more. You visit a costume and props museum as well as a vehicle museum.

Now, on weekdays, Shows tend to be filming, building sets, rehearsing etc. So you are unlikely to get on a soundstage. If you go on a public holiday OR a  weekend you have much more opportunity of viewing sound stages. And you can request which ones you go to. You only get into the audience area but its a good opportunity to see what swing sets are being built and what its like in-between filming. I have got onto Ellen, Two and a half men and Big Bang. And this was the time I was able to look for finally clue and find out the episode title.. so guys very VERY observant and look for eve thing you can.

There is a gift shop FULL of BBT stuff.. Its very VERY dangerous on the credit card. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

Other stuff:

Here I'm going to include some tips and other things you can do in LA:

Tips:

- Take a credit card.

- Read reviews

- look at maps before you go

- Always have ID on you

Other places to visit:

- Santa Monica

- Manhattan Beach

- Glendale

- The Queen Mary (in Long Beach)

- Holly Wood

- Beverly Hills

- Take a drive up the Pacific Coast Highway

- Downtown LA

- 1 hour from Vegas by plane

For me, I am very lucky. I have friends in LA and Vegas so its a place I visit often anyway. It just so happens its the home of Big Bang as well. Which now gives me even more the reason to go. One of my biggest hobbies is aviation photography. So I can spend hours at LAX eating burgers, soaking up the sun and being a plane nerd with my other nerdy friends :). Now I Just want to point out.. Im not a spoiled child or anything.. I do these trips 4 times a year and I promise you guys, I work hard to make them happen. I am currently working around 200-240 hours a month to make it happen. I feel like death but its worth it in the end..

All in all. My trips cost me around £1,000- £1,500 in total. Thats for everything. Flights, hotels, car, food, fuel. Everything.. for about a week.

If there is anything else that I have missed or any questions. please ask And I will help as much as I can :)

Kazzie, that was very helpful. If and when I'm travelling to LA, I'll definitely ask you if I have a problem/question. :) Would probably be flying with one of the Lufthansa planes...

Lufthansa are a good shout.. They are most likely one of the best airlines in Europe. I do a lot of work with Lufthansa as well! They are one of the airlines I look after here in London :) Speaking of which. I have a flight from Munich landing shortly ;)

Haha :D Yeah, well I'm from Germany, so either Lufthansa or Condor. Most likely, I'd fly from Berlin or Düsseldorf. Maybe Cologne, since I'm moving there in two weeks.

You will probably need to connect in MUC or FRA. I would recommend a legacy carrier like Lufthansa for such a long flight.

If any of you guys need Airline advise.. I'm your girl ;)

For travel, I want to mention Uber.  I have a few friends in LA and they said Uber is the way to go for transportation, and it costs HALF the price of the city taxis.  It's a taxi service app that you download, create an account with, and when you need a taxi, you pull it up on your app.  It will show you how much it will cost to go your destination, and it will bring the taxi to you.   You don't have to carry cash or tip since it will automatically charge your card.   They say the traffic is crazy, but the parking is what will get you.  It's hard to find parking places, and there are all kinds of rules you have to watch for on street signs.    I will be using Uber for the first time when I go in a few weeks and will report back, but I have heard nothing but good things.

Yes, Uber is an excellent choice if you need a ride somewhere. It's simply an app you can download and when you need a ride, you can just find a driver in the area to take you. Lyft is also a similar option but I'm not as familiar with that service.

You can also use SuperShuttle if you need to get to LAX but it might be pricey. But if you aren't in a hurry, it's a good way to go and it's more affordable than a taxi (but probably more than an Uber). Or look for other people attending the taping who are going to LAX that you might be able to ride with. Depending on the time of your flight, traffic might be really good or really bad. It's a nightmare between I'd say 7am and 9am. Before or after that, it shouldn't be too much of an issue from Burbank to LAX, but always allow for it. Apps like Waze and Sig Alert can help you in real-time with traffic routes and alternate ways around it.

Also depending on the day and time, I do work right near the airport so I might be able to give a ride. :)
