Is Johnny putting on some more weight, now that he stopped smoking? Talking about the bed scene with Sheldon, where he has a pretty voluminous throat/neck. Quitting can be a real b*, I know that from my own experience.

A nice review from The AV Club, with a B for a score.

They are worried about, what they see as, a trend in the Howard and Bernadette storyline...

For most of its runtime, “The Septum Deviation” is a lighthearted, perfectly serviceable episode of The Big Bang Theory. It fires off the one-liners, gets in a few great Sheldon tangents, and plays off of the intimate relationships these characters have shared over the years. Then, in one of its storylines, it once again devolves into nastiness. Here though, the nastiness has me questioning the direction of the show. Suddenly, the constant bickering between Howard and Bernadette doesn’t feel like a contained incident in an episode that we’re meant to forget by next week. I’m starting to wonder if there’s more going on here.

Don't want to go their, but their seems to be a consistent trend with Bernadette, and being short with everyone particularly Howard? Do you think a separation maybe on the cards? I don't think so, but something is up.

I don't think they'll seperate. It's just a normal long term relationship, lol. Women are the worst. They'll get you in the trap before you even know it. :p

Sheldon and Leonard fussing back and forth on the couch was priceless...."You Luuuuve Me!"   Both Galecki and Parsons had perfect line delivery!

Another stray thing I noticed on the first watch...in addition to the Lenny prom picture on the bedside table when Sheldon is in Leonard's room ("OK, Why?"...another great delivery by Johnny!)...on the other bedside table is the pink-framed "World's Best Fiance" photo.

Great continuity from the set decorator crew!  [Now we just need to see the Shamy prom pix in Sheldon's room!]

Overall, a fun episode with lots to like...I liked all the comfortable, loving bickering between all the iterations of Leonard, Sheldon, Penny, and Amy.

Though I too wonder where the writers are heading with the more serious tensions between Howardette...seems like something is in the works?

Good episode with some exceptional zingers. Sheldon's reply to Leonard's dismissal of asteroid strikes being a danger, "Tell that to some cocky T-Rex swirling around in your gas tank" is one of the smartest lines I can remember in the entirety of the show.

The A plot premise, though is one of the biggest continuity errors they have ever had. This is from 3.14, "The Einstein Approximation", when Sheldon had snuck into Penny's room while L/P were sleeping:

Sheldon: You’re welcome. Good night to you, too. Oh, by the way, I was watching you sleep for a moment, and I noticed that your snoring seems to be worse when you’re on your back.

Penny: Leonard doesn’t snore.

Sheldon: No, I wasn’t talking to Leonard.

Leonard: Told you.

And this is from 5.10 "The Flaming Spittoon Acquisition", during the game of twister:

Bernadette: Looks like it’s just us playing. (Penny snores) Penny? (Penny snores louder) Penny, we’re out of wine!

Penny (waking, bleary): You should probably drive.

That Leonard would have a loud snoring problem that neither Sheldon or Penny would have commented on after all these years is a bridge too far. Sheldon has stated several times about what a good, low maintenance roommate Leonard is. He most definitely would not have quietly put up with snoring for such a long time.

Oh well, anything for a laugh.

Season 8 Sheldon is a kinder, gentler Sheldon.  He has been noticeably less condescending and more caring.  Last week he told Amy he loved her, now he's loving Leonard to death.  Is this because of the train trip?  If so, I know a bunch of people I'd like to send on train trips.

Some inward change was evident in "The Proton Transmogrification".  Force ghost Proton told Sheldon to appreciate his friends and Proton in that episode was a manifestation of Sheldon's own conscience.

I think since then we have seen some outward change too. I think gradual change and occasional backsliding is realistic and it avoids disorientation of the audience.

Leonard has mentioned in the past that he has sleep apnea, which does involve snoring and can be a serious condition - It also can be caused by a deviated septum, so I would assume it was part of the reason for Leonard having the surgery.

Very mediocre episode.

A complete episode about Leonard's nose?

And it's clear Howardette are going to break up and maybe even get a divorce, they have big issues in their marriage.

The only good and fun part were Shamy, it was good to see them play games together for example, only time I laughed during the entire episode.

You are making good points. I don't think they expect the audience to remember that much detail.

I rated this episode as okay. I wonder if they are setting up to have one of Raj's parents moving to move in with Raj and mix things up for him. Guess I am just wondering if there is some point to splitting his parents up.

I think Howard and Bernadette have much to work out but so do a lot of new couples (and old couples). They got past the bachelor party and the reveals of Howard's past.

Raj's parents divorce may have been a lead in to the Howdette discussion since his parents have't been on in over 3 years.

Leonard's nose was just a vehicle to shine focus on Sheldon's attachment to him.  That was what the episode was about.

Agreed.. it also made Penny point out that Leonard "is all mine" and that they are going to be together the rest of their lives as Kerry mentioned in a previous post. Penny also mentioned snd Leonsrd agreed on Sheldon's dependence on them at the end.

Loved seeing Lenny and Shamy so solid in their relationships.

Also enjoyed Sheldon demonstrating concern for Leonard. I appreciate the Leonard/Sheldon friendship almost as much as I do the romantic relationships.

Howard and Bernie worry me a bit, but they may just be that token couple that argues all the time for the sake of comedy. I do have to admit I was distracted by the knowledge Carol Ann Susie will no longer be the voice of Howard's mom, so I don't know if the fighting struck me as more edgy than intended by the writers or not. Anyway, I'm along for the ride regardless.

About Raj- poor guy just keeps getting dumped on.

Yes, definitely one of the most clever, funny one-liners in a while...good job writers!  I will probably remember it every time I fill up the tank! Ha!

Continuity wise...the thing that got me the most this episode was Sheldon and the sticky syrup fingers.  Really?...from clean freak Sheldon?  Did we not just have Sheldon talk about the gloves, apron, and hair net in the previous scene?

But we have Raj's hugemongus desk callback?

Oh well...as has been said...anything for a laugh! ;-)  I am just sort of resigned to the continuity issues (though TPTB should really hire this fourm as continuity consultants!)  Nevertheless, I still very much enjoyed the episode.

The snoring thing didn't bother me--really there's just the one mention before, and I don't think it's that serious in terms of show continuity. Does it really change anything that came before?

I loved Sheldon's white board of death. I loved the T-Rex line and also the "sphincter-tightening 1in 300" line. And Leonard's comeback about his check-sphincter light. :p

The Howardette story line didn't bother me at all. I don't think it's a harbinger of a break-up, but it's kind of a realistic vein to mine for such a couple. Howard is still very much a man-child, a spoiled child who is having to learn only now what it means to be a man and a husband and the burden falls to Bernie to teach him or to drag him past those bad habits.

Anyway, I think it gives them plenty of fodder for funny newlywed stories.

I am wondering where they're going to go with Raj's parents. I don't think they broke them up for nothing because they didn't really explore it very deeply yet.

I think it was a very fun episode. :)

Another very good episode - the show has really been on a roll since it moved back to Thursdays, Loved the setup of Sheldon being worried about Leonard dieing during his nose surgery, while Leonard tried to reassure Sheldon that it was routine, minor surgery and there was nothing to worry about - there have been some nice Shelnard moments this season, and this episode had lots of them - Sheldon watching Leonard sleep, and then saying he would miss his snoring, meaning that he would miss Leonard if anything happened to him - "You are such a glass is half full kind of guy, I'm going to miss that" - Sheldon figuring out the public swimming pool ruse, and after learning that Leonard is having the surgery, demanding that Amy take him to the hospital, putting his fear of hospitals aside for his best friend - then during the earthquake and the lights go out in the hospital, Sheldon forgot all about his emergency preparedness drills and rushed to see if Leonard was ok, causing him to crash into the glass door in the funniest moment of the episode, and I liked the Leonard and Sheldon bickering on the couch afterwards  - "I don't know what hurts more, my nose or my heart." - and finally the matching urns were Priceless "Here lye the ashes of Leonard Hofstadter, he thought he was right but his roommate knew better." and "I'm with stupid" - so sweet that Sheldon wanted to be buried with his best buddy - I know that Amy is right and eventually Sheldon will move on and Leonard and Sheldon will  no longer be roommates, but when that day comes it will be a very sad day for me.

I also liked the Raj/Howard/Bernadette part - the way Raj has talked about his parent's relationship the last couple years, it is not surprising that they got a divorce, but I miss the video chat scenes between Raj and his parents and hope this doesn't mean that they are gone for good - maybe either his father or mother could move to Pasadena - Howardette saying what they like about each other with devolved into what they didn't like about each other was funny, I too wonder if all the bickering between them this season was leading to trouble for the marriage, but I think whatever plans there might have been, might now change with the death of Carol Ann Susi, speaking of which, it was touching and classy for TBBT to pay tribute to her at the end of the episode, she will be missed.

I enjoyed the episode for the most part.

- Shelnard was so sweet! Loved it how worried Sheldon was about Leonard

- so sweet the prom picture of Penny & Leonard on Leonards night table *awwwwwwww*

-. loved the teddy and the little balloon Sheldon brought to the hospital

- loved how Penny touched his hand and then was like " That´s sticky" *LOL*

- loved Leonard & Sheldon with the bandages on their noses -> Leonard sounded so funny (kudos to Johnny Gallecki he did a great job with that!)

- loved that Penny took a picture of them *LOL*

and last but not least: Simon Helberg. Isn`t he hilarious as Howard? I mean I loved the Howard/Bernie scenes when they told each other what they loved about the other person

(Simon was just great!)
