I don't want to attack another forum member. I'm not a very aggressive person. And, may I ask, why are you defending Sheldon, when I have seen you attack Sheldon prior to this?

*crawls back to Shamy thread*

Is there some law that says I can only criticize a character and can't defend them depending on the circumstance. I've done my fair share of criticizing characters I like.

See

See, Car, I said you would be told it's wrong to feel that way.

Where did I say the words, "its wrong to feel that way"?

It's a shame that people make you feel that you are wrong to feel that way. They will claim they are not, but the strong inference that you are wrong belies that claim.

There are only two big developments Lenny have to look forward to (moving in and marriage) and it seems the writers are keeping them until its absolutely necessary to show it

Imo

Again, no understanding. Either that or you have no faith that the writers could do anything except those two things. Rachel, how would you feel about them only mentioning the ring twice, with no movement on it, except the mentions, until the last episode of season 9?

Can you actually prove your hypothesis is nothing more than pure coincidence?

You actually got that backwards, I gave the increase in Shenny and Shelnard this season as support for my opinion. Since your opinion is that it is a coincidence, you are the one that needs to supply proof of your claim to counter mine. If You have no proof or support, then your opinion is unsupportable. My support is not extremely strong however since you offer no support for your claim, my opinion becomes more logically revelant than yours. That is the way science works, when different theories are proposed, the theories with the most supporting data are the most logically relevant.

Couldn't you say the same thing about Shamy, except maybe adding getting engaged. However getting engaged is not a big deal as we have seen with Lenny this season.

Yeah, you know what? I kinda binge - watched most of Season 8 today and I'm so pissed off I need to come dump it here.

I'm really upset that it had to be SHELDON to push Lenny to make a wedding date.

I'm upset that Sheldon had to compare their relationships.

I'm upset that Lenny didn't get any big developments in Prom.

I want Season 9 now. I want a wedding. I want more talking. I want ROMANCE!

Welcome to my personal TBBT hell … my name's Karen and I can be your tour guide ...

There are only two big developments Lenny have to look forward to (moving in and marriage)

You didn't prove that was intentionally by design.  Unless you can prove your supporting data IS NOT A COINCIDENCE, then I see your data as flawed.  And that you only came to that conclusion through a confirmation bias.

Not true, the supporting data could be flawed in this case which I think it is.

You want to make a statement but you don't want to defend your own viewpoint?  Why do that on a forum?  You can do that on a blog where you don't want anyone to comment on it.

Challenging and/or disagreeing with a persons viewpoint does NOT necessarily mean that.

These forums are entirely frustrating to read, and I think I'm pretty much done.  It's so argumentative on here.  I think people have their own impressions on how the season went, and they are expressing it.  I'm more of a Sheldon/Amy shipper, but I come to this thread to read, because I do also like the Penny/Leonard couple and want to see them happy.  I watched this season, and in general, I did not have the hate many people here have for it.  I did notice the startling lack of mention of the engagement, and lack of wedding planning, which I thought was a gaping hole.

I can look objectively and see that a lot of episodes seem to be centered around Sheldon. Now I'm not going to go through it episode by episode to give proof.  What is this, court? Who has time for that...I have a job.   I think all the Sheldon-centric episodes can be at the expense of a lot of other characters.  I'm saying this as a Sheldon fan...  It's always interesting when there is more balance.  I think it makes for a better show.  Now Sheldon will always be in the A or B plots, and I am ok with that.  My fave character is actually Amy.  And I feel that they've downgraded her character to just be a supporting character to Sheldon, which makes me sad.

Although the Leonard cheating plotline seems wildly out of character for him, hopefully it will spur some good development between the couple (and plotlines) in Season 9.

Unless you can prove your supporting data IS NOT A COINCIDENCE, then I see your data as flawed.

Your problem, not SRAM's.

And that you only came to that conclusion through a confirmation bias.

Unless you can prove the supporting data does indeed contain confirmation bias, then your conclusion is flawed.

Not true, the supporting data could be flawed in this case which I think it is.

Then it's up to you to show it's flawed. Your statement is simply a claim. Exactly what you hypocritically decry SRAM for doing.

I asked him if he can PROVE it's not a coincidence.  If his findings contain strong support for his claim, then he should have no problem backing it up.  Instead he dodges the question, by asking me a question of his own.

So then show where his findings are wrong.  If they are, you should have no problem showing it's wrong. Your statement is still simply a claim. Exactly what you hypocritically decry SRAM for doing.

So then show where his findings are wrong.

For starters he claims there has been an increase in Shenny scenes this season, even though there were more episodes with Shenny scenes last season than there were this season.

Only The Prom Equivanlency, The Comic Book Store Regeneration, The Intimacy Acceleration, and The Communication Deterioration have contained episodes with scenes alone between them in season 8.

While the first 3 episodes of season 7, The Cooper Extraction, The Occupation Recalibration, The Friendship Turbulance, and The Anything Can Happen Recurrence; all had episodes where Sheldon & Penny spent screen time alone in season 7.

Season 7- had 7 episodes where both characters had screen time alone with each other.

Season 8 - had 4 episodes between both characters.

Simple math would indicate he was wrong about there being an increase of Shenny this season.

There was that so hard?

And now apply the weighting factors. It's like currency and there is an exchange rate. People value things differently. Empiricism will only take your understanding so far. It still comes down to preference.

I'd forgo 5 Sheldon scenes for one good L/P scene, for example. :)

Guest sladenoddy

Their seems to be a divide between fans of Leonard and Penny. On one hand you got the fans who think they are solid, no signs of breaking up, in a great place. Something you diddn't feel with them S3,S5,S6 e.t.c. On the other hand you got the people who don't like how their intimacy has been decreased, lack of real plots, lazy writing e.t.c. Just wondering for fans of the L/P dynamic, are you happy so far?

ETA: It always spills on the L/P thread so thought it would be good to discuss the specifics so far.

If Leonard and Penny break up again!!! in season 9 then I amso done with this show. Mr Molaro take serious note and stop messing us around.

Hi sladenoddy, glad to see you here. ☺

They better not break them up because I will be done too. I think they will work things out. They are strong enough to survive this minor blip.

I don't seriously think they will break them up either, I think the writers are not that engrossed in Sheldon to not realize that would be a huge change in the show concept. However, that said, if they continue the path they have set in season 8, will we really care what happens to them in the end? That is what bothers me.

You make a good point SRAM. I think they've lost a lot of viewers this season. There has been literally nothing much to talk about lenny even on the Internet no one is really talking about the Leonard kiss. It's like lenny fans have given up on them and even on this forum a lot of Lenny fans do not post anymore. I'm worried about the damage done to lenny this season can never be fixed and I fear next season more will desert the show if they carry on milking the cash cow.

The unnecessary concentration on Sheldon has harmed the show, IMO. As a Lenny fan I which I could erase all of season 8 and start from 7:24. I guess the only reason for me to continue watching is the fact that I hope (while I'm not that confident it will actually happen) that we will get the Lenny we've come to love once again. And to all those people who tell me that I cannot stop watching if I don't get what I want (with my ship or otherwise) I say: why the hell not? Of course I can stop watching, the show has to win ME (and the rest of its audience) over. It is NOT the other way around. If it comes to the point I no longer enjoy it, of course I'll stop watching. And just to make it clear: Lenny is a big part of the enjoyment I get from TBBT.

I have in the past abandoned shows that have become boring or just lost its way. Two and a half men comes to mind. I'm not afraid to do the same with TBBT. I love all the characters on the show including Sheldon (sometimes) but my main drug is lenny and if I can't get my fix I'll change my choice of drugs.

I don't know if there is anything TPTB could do (short of anything/any event that would blow-up all of the friendships---don't make me use that word) that would make me stop watching. I made it through the winter of season 4. I am looking forward with hope in mind!

I wish I was as much of an optimist as you are Hokie. The only consolation I have, if things come to the point that I'll stop watching, is that no one can take away from us the 6 1/2 seasons (IMO) of great TV that we were witnesses of.
