I don't know if there is anything TPTB could do (short of anything/any event that would blow-up all of the friendships---don't make me use that word) that would make me stop watching. I made it through the winter of season 4. I am looking forward with hope in mind!

Things are not going to fall apart. (Touch wood) I have faith in the writers not to make me stop watching but a little part of me is afraid. I love the show and I don't want to stop watching it.

I think that the writers who gave us Prom, Body Paint and Graduation still care about Penny and Leonard very much. I watch these episodes a lot and they're fun and keep me hopeful and feeling good about Lenny. Other episodes I disliked so much I'll never watch again and wonder how they came from the same writers. The mysteries of Season 8. I love Penny and Leonard so much and I believe the people who created them do too in spite of THE NOT GREAT SEASON 8. How could they not love them? They are like their children! They've grown them and tended them for 8 years! They are a great couple! I hope they show us just how much they still love them next season. Keepin' the Lenny faith this summer.

I know right it's a mystery to me why the writer abandoned lenny in S8. It's like lenny was a burden to them and to keep fans happy they gave us a little bits of lenny happiness which I enjoyed don't get me wrong. I just feel that lenny wasn't important to the writers this season and my fear is it might continue in S9. But on a brighter note we get some closure on the kiss and some continuity of the great couple we came to love.

hokie and Strawberry, you two are cut from the same cloth! I always love reading your posts because they are always so wonderfully positive! They always bolster me up when I feel like hissing and snarling! You both really do calm my rattle snake-like tendencies!

I saw an article that was posted to Facebook in which Molaro hinted at a possible Lenny break-up. I hope not, because I think it ruins the storyline.

i don't know how I would feel anymore about the show if they did that. Leonard and Penny remaining friends again would just seen ridculous to me. And heaven forbid they put her with Sheldon, I will probably stop watching.

If they did that I know I would stop watching but with all of the shenny in s8 I wouldn't be surprised

Where did you see it? If its the one I think your talking about, Then molaro didn't say anything like that, and his words were twisted out of context.

Is that the one where he was asked if we should worry about Lenny and he said yes but in a good way

If this is the article, then it just reaffirms my claim, in that Molaro's words are being wildly misinterpreted or overinterpreted

From the article:

"The producer also dished on Leonard's shocking confession, and how his infidelity will affect his relationship with Penny.

"She's processing it but so far she wants to move forward. That is to be determined," Moralo teased, and hinted at an impending breakup.

"We're all very invested in all these characters. People hit road bumps in their lives and hopefully they'll deal with it or not, but that's the fun excitement of what we're looking to have happen coming back," he teased.

When asked if season 9 premiere episode will feature a wedding, the Showrunner said, "We're hoping that everyone tunes in and joins us in the fall to find out.""

Road bumps can mean MANY THINGS in situations like this.  Such as not going through with a wedding.  To taking a step back and needing a day or two to examine a relationship.  Not just a breakup.  I feel the title was phrased that way purposely to get hits on their article.  Nowhere in Molaro's answers did he categorically narrow down his hints to a breakup.

Are you categorically stating that the article completely rules out a breakup?

No, I'm stating that I feel the author of said article chose his words specifically in a way where they are "technically accurate", in the same way that saying "you can skydive without a parachute (while omitting the obvious part about most likely not living without it)" is technically accurate.  Even though the words "road bumps" are too broad to suggest just one thing, it doesn't categorically rule out the possibility of a break up.  But it also doesn't categorically rule out other possible scenarios either.

So, your claim that it is widely misinterpreted or over interpreted are nothing more than bullshit, good to know.  Since it doesn't state there won't be a breakup, anyone is free to speculate on any of the possible scenarios.   So feel free to leave others to their speculations and you are free to speculate on YOUR speculations.

Considering how it has gotten people stirred up over the article (at least the ones IMO that don't take the time to critically read the words in an article and just take words in a title at 100% face value),  no I don't see my claim as bullshit.  But if you feel it is, then feel free to tell me how it is then.

Anyone can speculate all they want, but why should anyone's speculation (even mine) be free of criticism?

People are interpreting it in a manner that is not ruled out by the article.  Your opinion isn't others opinion.  So your claim that they are wildly interpreting it is bullshit.  Is their interpretation possible?  Yes.  So it's not a misinterpretation, so your claim is bullshit.

I prefer "they are believing the articles hype".  At least they don't seem to be interpreting ANYTHING other than what the article is suggesting.

I said misinterpreting.  Also I specifically said they are misinterpreting Molaro's words.

Is their interpretation possible?  Yes.

Its also possible that THEY DON'T get married in Vegas. But get married later after sorting out their latest ROAD BLOCK without breaking up.  It's also possible one of their parents could die and THAT becomes another ROAD BLOCK for them.  There's more than one type of road block that life puts in front of us.

Ask yourself this, of these two titles:

-"Will Penny marry Leonard in Vegas?  Producer hints at breakup when show returns" (Actual title)

-"Will Penny marry Leonard in Vegas?  Producer hints at road blocks when show returns"

Based on the specific words Molaro ACTUALLY SAID.  Which title is more PRECISELY ACCURATE?

And which title is more likely to generate more hits on the specific article?

My take on this "article" is that it is a report on the interview Mr. Molaro gave shortly after the finale. There he gave his take on what was going on with all of the couple's relationships. Nowhere (if I recall) did he indicate that Leonard & Penny were heading toward a break-up (to be fair he didn't deny it). He wasn't even asked that question directly. When asked if we should be worried about them he said yes, "but in a good way". To me that says the opposite.

Now this particular article reports on that interview and injects the break-up opinion to (I believe) cause a stir and send folks like us over the edge. I'm going with the show-runner's original statement that includes the phrase "in a good way".

Help me with any input.

We are just going to have to wait for 9.01 for any answer to if there will be a break-up, a wedding or anything.

It seems to me he was talking about bumps in the road not a land slide. I kind of think I trust the writers won't actually ruin the show.

I'll hope for a re-jig next season that will make these two more interesting. This might be triggered by the dramatic device they introduced in the cliffhanger. I won't rule out the chance of redemption and delight yet. Season 8 delivered very little emotionally for the two and I found that was disappointing. My quickly expressed impression of S9 in retrospect was that Penny and Leonard had few adventures together and any outings were mainly about conflicts.

I think the creatives overlooked or didn't have concern for the fact that people have longer memories for losses than gains. However, they are still winning in main game as now it's evident from ratings that the world accepts the Sheldonanigans. I think it's going to be tough for L/P to get centre stage back and I guess that's not the plan, anyway. Otherwise we would have already seen the writers work harder to keep them in focus.

Still, until we see s9, we won't know. Must be time for an S9 thread? Or is there one already?

Slick how you edited this back into your post after the post was answered, instead of answering it with a new post.  Nice attempt at hiding it.
