Tensor Posted May 26, 2015 Posted May 26, 2015 S5 was contiguous with s4. It would be more interesting to watch the aftermath than see any sad story played out in arrears. There was a time jump for the first show of season five. Although the opening was the next day (or possible the next Monday), there was a time jump of about two months between the main show final scene (Penny getting the call about the getting the commercial) and the tag (where they showed the commercial on TV). It normally takes about that long to tape it, edit it, add any titles and distribute it.
SRAM Posted May 26, 2015 Posted May 26, 2015 I am not expecting them to get married and I am so tired of seeing Leonard's heart ripped out. So I also wish they would give us a quick scene of if they did or didn't get married in 9.01 and then jump a couple months to the aftermath, so we can just go to the point of everyone dealing with it. I seriously think this kiss would not be enough to break up two people really in love, but if Penny dumps him again, especially after suffering through season 8, I going to have a hard time believing those two characters belong together. Carlos Posted May 26, 2015 Posted May 26, 2015 Please bear with me, this is not how I think things are going to happen , but it is how I would like them to happen. As we have discussed here previously, the kiss was left completely open ended as far as exactly how things happened. I would like for the conversation to continue going South even further, and when you think that all hell is going to break loose, Penny wakes up, and starts cursing Leonard, and Leonard looks at her with a befuddled look, and asks her what she's talking about, and then she realizes she dreamt it, and tells Leonard, and they decide not to get married because they believe the dream is a bad omen. I know this situation is a bit of a cop out, but not much more than the "nothing happened" by Raj.  The other situation that I think is more likely, and that I would like to see happen is Leonard clarifying things further, and telling Penny that he didn't initiate contact, that he stopped it as soon as he realized what was going on, and admitting that perhaps he was sabotaging the "rushed" marriage because he wants to do it with all the bells and whistles.  Neither scenario is ideal, I know, but with the way the writers ended this season there's not much that can be done. Actually the first idea wouldn't be bad, things get worse then Penny bolts up in bed from her bad dream, because they got in late and were going to get married the next day. They decide to wait and just have a wild weekend. At least Leonard wouldn't be a cheater.

meka3000 Posted May 27, 2015 Posted May 27, 2015 (edited) Nice straw man, I said "...claim others are wrong to have the interpretation...", nothing to do with the right to interpret something.  I think it does, just because someone has an interpretation that I disagree with (or even challenge) doesn't mean I think it's wrong for someone to think a specific way.  Or do you think I'm interpreting your words wrong now?    Anyone can interpret something however they want  They can also disagree with someone strongly, without it meaning "you HAVE TO WATCH IT THIS WAY."    You even stated that it was possible for Molaro to mean that they were going to split. You also said it could mean something else.  Sigh, it's a possibility, but IN MY OPINION it's a very, VERY slim one.  Just because the possibility exists DOESN'T mean I think it is likely to happen.  It's possible that I could win the lottery tonight, that doesn't mean it's a good idea for me to quit my job and ignore OTHER VARIABLES like how the odds of me winning are one in a million/ or how Molaro's "yes but in a good way" does far more to debunk the split theory than support it.    The way someone disagree's with another's interpretations can make a world of difference on how something is seen.  Sounds like a politically correct fallacy IMO, where you interpret a persons attitude behind their words as meaning only ONE THING without possibly considering other possible alternatives.    Based on my PMs, I'm not the only one not seeing it.  And I've gotten a couple PM's from members telling me that they agree with my opinion that some Lenny's are overreacting, and blow things out of proportion almost any time either Leonard and/or Penny aren't shown in a flattering light.  Are those members also wrong?    about how the other posters sound as if they are claiming the way they look at it is wrong.  Sounds as if?  Maybe I'd have an easier time believing this claim if almost all of these claims didn't boil down to "sound as if".  I'm not the only person you've accused of this, as there are 2 or 3 other members that you have claimed "have been accusing <insert member's name here> of watching/thinking/viewing the show in the wrong way." and it has mostly boiled down to personal interpretation of someone's attitude, and not so much the words themselves.  There's absolutely NO POSSIBILITY that your interpreting these words wrong?  Of course there's a possibility that I'm wrong and my words MIGHT HAVE said something to that specificity, and I just didn't notice it when typing them out.  If it is that, then that was not my intention.  But I have yet to see any proof beyond your personal interpretation.  Which I just don't agree with, if you want to have that interpretation of my words, fine.  More power to you.  But I just don't buy your argument as to why you think I'm coming across that way. Tensor Posted May 27, 2015 Posted May 27, 2015 I think it does, just because someone has an interpretation that I disagree with (or even challenge) doesn't mean I think it's wrong for someone to think a specific way.  Or do you think I'm interpreting your words wrong now? They can also disagree with someone strongly, without it meaning "you HAVE TO WATCH IT THIS WAY."Then why challenge it at all. Why not just state your opinion. Why keep on hammering on how others see the show? Does it make you feel better to continue pressing other posters on how they are wrong about how they see the show? Are you saying the way you continue to push other posters by saying that their interpretations are wrong, is not making them feel as if they are watching the show wrong (and telling them, multiple times, that their ideas are wrong is doing exactly this)? If not, how do you know how your posts are making them feel.  Sigh, it's a possibility, but IN MY OPINION it's a very, VERY slim one.  Just because the possibility exists DOESN'T mean I think it is likely to happen.  It's possible that I could win the lottery tonight, that doesn't mean it's a good idea for me to quit my job and ignore OTHER VARIABLES like how the odds of me winning are one in a million/ or how Molaro's "yes but in a good way" does far more to debunk the split theory than support it.So because of this, you have to correct others and tell them their interpretations are wrong, even though it's a possibility? You can't just state your interpretations or opinions, and let them state theirs? Or, if you must correct them, why do it continuously?    Sounds like a politically correct fallacy IMO, where you interpret a persons attitude behind their words as meaning only ONE THING without possibly considering other possible alternatives.Sounds like you are interpreting my attitude behind the words as meaning only one thing. Do you think it may mean something else, a hint perhaps?    And I've gotten a couple PM's from members telling me that they agree with my opinion that some Lenny's are overreacting, and blow things out of proportion almost any time either Leonard and/or Penny aren't shown in a flattering light.  Are those members also wrong? Can you explain how what is being told (that some are over reacting, which I happen to agree with) is the same as howthat what is being told? It could be said, that you don't agree, without continuously questioning their interpretations, especially if they are not ruled out. It was one other, and interestingly, Lenny's aren't the only one to agree with me there. The problem is the other person told those people that they should watch the show for all of the characters, not just a single ship. How is that not telling them they are watching the show wrong? Who is anyone to tell others how they should or shouldn't watch for other characters? Or do you agree that people should only watch the show for all of the characters? I'd have an easier time believing that I was interpreting the words wrong, if I was the only one. But I just don't buy your argument as to why you think I'm coming across that way.Again, others have said the same thing to me in PM, that you come across as telling them they are wrong to feel the way they do, wrong to watch the show they way they do, wrong to interpret the show they way they do. You may not use specific words, but those things, they feel, are strongly inferred. I'll try to get their permission to use their PM (possibly without attribution) and I'll provide you those comments, hows that? SRAM Posted May 27, 2015 Posted May 27, 2015 Yes for wild weekends!!!! LOL !!!!! AND !!!!! That could be really funny. Them starting out innocently going to a show, later ending up at the craps table, drinking free drinks until Penny can't keep the dice on the table anymore. Practically doing it in the elevator and then waking up hungover in a complementary penthouse suite the next morning, with a stack of money on the dresser in their room, with no idea how they got there. That would be awesome, but since there is no Sheldon, it will never happen.n

Nogravitasatall Posted May 28, 2015 Posted May 28, 2015 Because it wouldn't be funny without Sheldon. I'm thinking how much mouthwash Sheldon would recommend for the both of them, such that all traces of the "boat kiss" would be physically expunged retrospectively. I can imagine him coming home on the bus carrying the requisite volume that he has calculated. I'd laugh. But there might be some places mouthwash won't quite reach. They'll have to grow some scar tissue. It's a genuine beggar of a situation. All fun and games until someone gets stabbed in the heart post-hoc, post-reunion and post-engagement. He should've taken that stupid lapse to his grave. What a sad idea for a cliffhanger. He wasn't even on a break. So dumb.
SRAM Posted May 30, 2015 Posted May 30, 2015 I really hope you're right but I think they won't get married until the last espisode of the series be it s10 or 11 I'm beginning to think the writers are going to drag out the wedding to season 10. I am concerned about what they will do to stall out season 9 and if it will be related to the writers making Leonard a cheater. Guest Posted May 30, 2015 Posted May 30, 2015 I afraid the cheating might be the writers excuse for them being the only couple that doesn't get married. But how would they justifie Leonard still living with a married shamy
5Mississippis Posted May 30, 2015 Posted May 30, 2015 I afraid the cheating might be the writers excuse for them being the only couple that doesn't get married. But how would they justifie Leonard still living with a married shamy  If Season 8 had generated any warm fuzzies for me at all, I wouldn't be agreeing with this. But with the way this past season played out for Leonard and Lenny, I hate to say this but I can totally see this. Leonard temporarily bunking with the married Shamy until he finds another apartment.  Because of the weekly disappointments, I've convinced myself that the Shamy will be married well before Lenny. And in the corners of my mind I have the vague teasing of something like the end of the movie 'Sixteen Candles'. Penny and Leonard are not together and completely separate at the Shamy wedding. Knowing that the other will be there, both Leonard and Penny have recruited some stunning eye-candy to act as their dates. Of course, the two hired eye-candys hit it off and ditch Leonard and Penny. As the receptions ends and people filter away, now both alone, from across the room, their eyes meet. The deception that both of them tried to carry off is revealed in that glance as well as the deep love and caring that still have for one another. Penny, with tears in her eyes, walks up to Leonard, puts her hand to his cheek and says, 'Hey, you. I've missed you.' Leonard, with tears in his eyes,  says, 'Ive missed you too."  They kiss.  End Season 10.  That's it. TBBT is over.   Cliche? Absolutely. FanFiction? Most definitely. This scenario have it's genesis in the blazing disappointment (for me) that was Season 8? Pfffffft! Hells yeah.
hokie3457 Posted May 30, 2015 Posted May 30, 2015 IF we were to lose the wonderful Leonard/Penny relationship (again!), that scenario is a little bit lovely 5Miss. Kathy2611 Posted May 30, 2015 Posted May 30, 2015 Do you really think they'd alienate that many Lenny fans by doing that? They're already losing fans.....even casual viewers like my husband. He's to the point he doesn't care anymore and can watch it or not (the new ones). So if TPTB are smart, they'll stop playing these stupid drama and will they/won't they scenes and remember that this is a comedy. 5Mississippis Posted May 30, 2015 Posted May 30, 2015 Do you really think they'd alienate that many Lenny fans by doing that?  Hmmm …. don't know.  But do TPTB really care?  In Season 8, they already have shown heavy investment in Sheldon, the Shamy, and Shenny. Leonard and Lenny? Not so much.

SRAM Posted May 31, 2015 Posted May 31, 2015 If we get more Lenny next season it probably will only be for more Sheldon jokes and sarcastic comments about them I can't argue with that. Looking back at season 7, you can see that it was a lead in for season 8. There were too many WTF moments for Lenny, like the scavenger hunt fight, the whole lack of support by him for her, when she went for her acting career, and then so little attention for their engagement. I don't know what happened between season 6 and 7, but something major changed.
Guest Posted May 31, 2015 Posted May 31, 2015 (edited) I know Leonard kissed that other woman which was wrong but it shouldn't be a relationship killer. I was also thinking that if Leonard knew everything she says behind his back to their friends came out he would have every right to be as pissed as Penny Edited May 31, 2015 by old sailor
SRAM Posted May 31, 2015 Posted May 31, 2015 That is true, after all they have gone through together, it shouldn't be a show stopper, maybe it gets Leonard in the dog house but if she loves him she shouldn't dump him. But what makes sense doesn't seem to apply to TBBT lately.
