Well, I still enjoy the show, I'm going to keep watching!

Haven't given up yet I still enjoy the show too but I don't think I could go through another season like S8. But hey I'll give S9 a go.

There is an line of thought that a way to rejuvenate a stale show is to fire the writing staff and bring in new blood.

I think there is too much money being made for that to possibly happen. It is not time to push TBBT over a cliff.

I'm totally in now. No bbt to worry about just booze and fish. Like it. Veejay. A couple of kegs of German beer will be nice and I'll bring the English Ale. I think we're sorted... Boat trip. Yay!!

'a lot of margaritas'.....I prefer a good ol' german beer, but I'm in....

  Here come the pitchforks.....

What no torches? ;)

And not forgetting our overreacting while the tptb slowly destroyed lenny. But as some posters said lenny are in a "good place" (air quote) and happy. Until they took that away as well.

I wouldn't say they took it away so much throw a wet blanket on it.  Now whether they want to be happy afterwards is up in the air.

IMO the writers were probably wanting to take off on vacation and this ending was the easiest to write and they would worry about it later

We all agree on that. We want them to be happy and really hoping for some good things for Lenny in S9 but if things goes tits up. A couple of of us got a backup plan and off to Mexico to meditate. :)

I think we have all seen much darker moments.

You know I was watching 6.02 and Penny does have a serious secret, from over 2 years ago, that would upset insecure Leonard now. If he found out that she thought back then that their relationship was boring and that she really considered breaking up with him, you just know he would overthink the hell over that. I could actually see Penny letting the kiss eat at her during the drive and getting mad, then letting it slip about that. Leonard would then keep thinking about that, until he couldn't stand it anymore and then I could see them both agree to a short break to inventory their feelings for each other. The writers could then give us a half season of them acting like friends but keeping the relationship on hold, however to the audience, the writers can then show that they miss each other really bad and each want the other even more than before. They could then use some event for them to run back to each other. That I think would make the season 8 finale not so bad, because they would make them stronger at the end.

I don't think the 6.02 revelation is an issue or a concern. She discovered that a life with her "Pop-Tart" is not going to be boring. She discovered (and admitted to herself) that she she loves him. She is passionate about him and she wants to spend the rest of her life with him. I watched 8.24 for the second time last night--- their entire idea of eloping to Vegas was not thought out at all. Too spur of the moment. I'm not adverse to an elopement without their friends. In fact, I sort of like the 'just them' idea. No Sheldon around to point out what he thinks are Leonard's short-comings or to imply how much of a slut Penny is...

I would like a big wedding for Lenny but I agree I would also love them to elope and just the two of them getting married. but not the S8 final version route. Lenny best moments has alway been with just them and it will be so much romantic. I don't want another lenny breakup either I want them to work harder on their relationship and iron out all their issues and hoping the kiss is what makes Penny realize she can lose Leonard and not take him for granted like she usually does. So when they do tie the knot it will be the happiest day of their lives. :Icon_shy

I understand what you are saying, it is just that I get the impression that season 8 was so bad for Lenny because one of the writer's goals was to stall them.  So if the season 8 finale was just a continuation of that goal to stall them and lead that same stalling into season 9, I just thought having them take a not too serious break, while having them actually missing each other would be better than the less then desrireable way they stalled them in season 8.

I wouldn't mind them eating in 4A, with the gang, Penny on the couch and Leonard in his chair, while they took sneak looks at each other.  Or Sheldon saying something snarky to one of them and the other defending them strongly, making hte gang sit there is stunned silence.  Penny telling the girls she was lonely and felt something was missing, Leonard, when with the guys, acting a little different because she wasn't that close to him right now.  They could still have friend scenes together where they have special smiles for each other, but there would be no spending the night together or going on dates, and during that time they could even have them almost break down and get together again a couple times.  Of course, then there would be an event, sometime during the season, that would make them confess that they need and want each other, so the short break would be over and they would both agree they are sure about their feelings.  I'm not talking about a break up, Penny would not give Leonard his ring back, it would just be an agreed to short break so they could decide their feelings and if they were still going to go through with getting married.

I know I almost have a plot for a fanfiction, but I really don't like how they left season 8 with Leonard being a cheater.  Sheldon's fault, that drove Amy away, can be corrected, but how do you take back Leonard being a cheater?  And if they just drop it in season 9, I don't think we will forget it, I probably won't.

Anyway that is my Saturday rant.

Rant on brother. :) it's always nice to get things of your chest. I see where you're coming from with this but it will be another excuse for the writers to write more shenny scenes and I don't want that. The damage is already done and nothing will change the fact that he kissed another girl unless it's a dream sequence but I doubt that. I will never get over or forget how the Leonard character was written so badly & out of character in S8 just to make Sheldon the good guy and everyone worshiping him. because you can't have them both being the hero, that will not be believable so I guess Leonard & Lenny were sacrificed for the cash cow.

I'm afraid of that too but I'm hoping not. Just have to wait and see.

I will not keep on watching if S8 is the norm for the rest of the series. In regards to Tonstar's comment that they sacrifice Lenny in favor of the cash cow while I think it's totally accurate, I will also propose that specifically a well written Lenny and generally a well written show, wouldn't make the viewership decrease. Let's remember that's how they got where they are. In S8 I don't even think that Shamy was that well written. There was a lot of it but not  all of it was good. I think it usually takes casual viewers longer to react but if the quality of the writing keeps decreasing they will eventually leave as well.

I guess my problem is the producers keep talking about slow changes but in 1 season penny goes from a unemployed actress to a top selling sales rep with a investment guy. Sheldon goes from barely being able to hold hands to buying a engagement ring and Leonard goes from being the leader of the group to some big time wimp

You could see that S8 was written mostly for the causal viewers as accuracy went out the window and it was all about the cash cow and yes Shamy was written in some instances badly. but like you said people will suss out the bad writing if it carries on and will realise the cow is dry.

Lol. It just laughable and makes no sense how it's supposed to be slow growth for Sheldon & Penny but the slow growth for the last 2 seasons has really been Leonard.
