Chelle
Thanks guys for the stories. We have good writers here. For some reason, I haven't watched any happier episodes of The Big Bang Theory ever since the finale and once I was done creating a video ode for Sheldon and Amy (which was a nightmare for me emotionally, mentally and creatively), as told from Sheldon's perspective. tallin
What are your parameters for something nice? Romance? Sex? All of the above? Romance always, sex as well (If there's not 50 Shades of it) I'm very much into read anything which is trying to keep as much in character as possible, without Sheldon making sudden turn to fluffy hippie (Sheldon would just love me for this comment) and I like interesting plot/situation... I'm reading Book Club and Transboundary Peregrinaton for example now and those are amazing.

I have two so far that have gone over well, The Paradigm Realization and the Jealousy Algorithm. I have those here and others in my fanfiction & AO3 profiles. tallin
I really like Hazelra7, QBMaja, mphs95, Misphonia, ChaliceInnana, Shamour and April in Paris stories. I think if you look up any of those author's your will find really good quality Shamy stories. I read everything Hazerla wrote, I like her style very much, Misphonia of course, April is amazing I love/read all of her fanfics QBMaja I'm patiently (not so much) waiting for an update. ChaliceInnana even while great writer has majority of ff's unfinished...and you know how it is when you wait for years never sure if you finally get the satisfaction Shamour I think I never read so I will look it up. I guess I formulated my question wrong, I would like to find more like specific fanficton with interesting story than a writer. I can like one fanfic and other not at all with one writer (even while in those examples up there I tend to really like whatever they wrote). I'm honestly a little tired lately of fanfics I start to read and in the process they change Sheldon into so different (mostly exaggeratedly romantic) person I have to stop after many chapters. (even while I understand writers motive and I really don't blame them). But I just like Sheldon as he is or developing naturally (April nailed it IMO). And there is really a sea of those and really few of those "not fixing" Sheldon. So that was my main motive for this post. I'm struggling in finding IC lately so if someone had something specific like that in mind, no matter if it's old or new, dramatic or humorous I would really appreciate it. While praising writing IC I would just like to highlight YlvaBorealis, I know people know her as author of Treading Water but her other works are outstanding too. While praising writing IC I would just like to highlight YlvaBorealis, I know people know her as author of Treading Water but her other works are outstanding too. I've been thinking a lot about that as writer lately....I am a bit guilty of what you have written above. In my first fanfiction (The Fight Aftermath), my Sheldon isn't quite completely in character. As the story progressed, I worked hard to try to keep him in character much more. The beginning chapters...not so much. He was overly supportive and sweet. I like Sheldon being wickedly smart, a bit obtuse about people, and difficult, but has his affectionate side. I don't like him written as overly childish and overtly mean. It takes some practice to write him correctly, but when you see it, it's oh so fun to read! Oh well, you learn and grow as an author right?. I love writing scenes where Sheldon and Amy are just bantering. My last few chapters have had that, and I had so much fun writing it. There are a lot of stories out there where Amy fixes Sheldon then he becomes a sex God....it does get a bit tiresome. I agree, Sheldon doesn't really need to be "fixed". I don't mind stories though that address the fact that he took off last season and how it hurt Amy. That was a big hole (in my opinion) in the storyline this year that was never addressed. Amy and Sheldon's main issue (in my opinion) is that they both kind of assume they know how the other is feeling but are often wrong. Well it seems like you've read a lot of the authors already that I mentioned, so I don't have any new suggestions. Good luck in your search, and if you come upon any gems, let us know on here. I would love to read it!

I would love to read it! I read your story as well. I have a real life too, I promise (well, at times) I think there's nothing to be ashamed about at all, it's your first fanfic and as you said it takes time to grow, or really find yourself as an author. And I think you're doing very good job so far. I actually wrote something some time ago which never saw the daylight, firstly because my English is so bad I would have to pay in gold to the beta, and secondly because when my obsessive need for perfection showed up, I was rereading again and again and ended up always seeing more and more mistakes. I felt like it was better after time, but it took a lot for me to feel like I'm writing mostly IC and still I wouldn't publish it, and that's a reason I admire everyone who does and I feel uncomfortable in criticism of others, even sometimes I do, when I think it's justified and constructive. My thumbs up goes with those who really tries instead of making their own version and go with it, that's for me the most important feature of writer - trying to reach the character. I started to read your fanfiction because it had really crazy twist, I'm nuts for those. Yes, few chapters felt OOC for me to some degree, but the fact that I was eagerly waiting for what will happen made up for it. I really appreciate your effort and can tell you it pays back. Even while it maybe doesn't seems like it, I'm a picky reader, when I stay with something for 25 chapters It has to be way better than good. To paraphrase Toy Story, "You've got a reader in me" About Sheldon as a sex God,yes, that's what bothers me too. For me the sexual life I imagine for them is now best written by April in dark Book Club. It always has it's own unique atmosphere and you never feel like it's happening because there is time to get them in bed. Better than two sex God's I like them represented as two inexperienced lovers, who are trying to learn in the process, and are showing the beauty of being first time in love and for the first time with other person this way. I don't even really need long passages, sometimes just a few words, touches or feels describe the scene better than thousand graphic words. I agree with you about last finale. Even more after reading so many stories after that you can feel like something was missing. And there was IMO. Hope writers solve this finale more deeply. And I'm already impatient to read the ff's. I'll keep my research at high priority and let you know. Edited May 14, 2015 by tallin
RJ1013
tallin, I agree that April really does a fantastic job with the sexual life of Amy and Sheldon. Her story is one of the reasons I thought I’d take my own try at it. I feel weird recommending my own story, but it may be something that you’d enjoy because it is very much a story of inexperienced lovers. It is quite different from April in that I am much more of a humor based story. The stories I write I try to keep Sheldon in character as much as possible with the eventual growth that I see in him and those are my favorites. For me, Amy can bring all that out in him, but like her, they are inexperienced, but they trust each other so they will work the kinks out as they go and I think it's the best way. I like taking my time with my stories because I think between the two of them they have so much emotional damage that can not be conquered over night but each have a kindred soul in the other. Tallin, you should publish your story. Frankly the people who are nasty about stories are usually non-writers who have no talent. You have friends here and we love to beta our fellow writers! I think the slow process in fanfics is corresponding with our view on them in the show. If I would see them making out on the couch after a year I would be like "Well, that happened.." after five years of frustration and waiting I almost cried and drank my wine like an apple juice Like always, the more you wait for something, the more exciting it is, when it finally happens My problem isn't really that people could be mean to me, but more than I just can't publish something I'm not entirely satisfied with. I'm usually giving my works in my school to professors way after deadline, not because I would be so lazy, but because until it's not perfect I'll not. Really annoying quirk indeed Only place where you can get away with this is ... psychology department Edited May 14, 2015 by tallin

I'm usually giving my works in my school to professors way after deadline, not because I would be so lazy, but because until it's not perfect I'll not. Really annoying quirk indeed Only place where you can get away with is ... psychology department It's a hard thing to get past for sure. You always want your writing to be perfect, but it never really is. I ran into a whole bunch of issues when writing that I never thought of (Lol...novice writer troubles...): 1. Getting Influenced by others - you think you know what you want to write, and then when you get reviews suggesting something happen a certain way, all of a sudden that thought starts germinating in your head, and you start questioning your own idea (or changing it). Sometimes change is good, but sometimes it takes you away from where you wanted the story to go. 2. Review Blues - You post a chapter you think is really good, and you worked hard on, and then hardly anyone reviews it. It makes you think it sucked. If you think it was great, that should be good enough right?....well..this one still gets to me. I still get the blues when I get low reviews. 3. Rude Reviews - Boy did I get a lot of these! Wow! My very first review, was "Please do not write anything ever again." I got a lot from Penny fans, upset with me that I painted her negatively. They were not nice about it either. Super rude language, rude comments. I got used to it, but geez did it ever throw me for a loop in the beginning. 4. Storyline Creep - This was entirely my fault. I had a general idea of how I wanted the story to go (I wanted it to be a Shamy story, and how this fight came between them and slowly how they came back together). Now I have no idea how my story became equal Penny/Leonard story, drugged addicted friends story that it became! I seriously didn't plan that at all! Lesson learned. I'm going to outline my next story so I have a plan. I was just literally writing each chapter as it came to me. Unfortunately (or fortunately) my head goes weird places.... 5. Writer Envy - I'd write a chapter that I was happy with, and then I'd go read a really great authors story in between. Like Chaos Cognizance, or one of Hazelra, mphs95, or April's stories. Then I'd come back and re-read my story and go.....oh this is such crap! It's no where near the level of their writing. It's true, their writing is amazing. But I just have to remember, that the more I write, the better it will get right? Well I hope so! All in all, it's been a fun experience. I learned a lot in the process, and what was really great, is that I made some really nice friends on here (which I never expected). So I encourage you to take a shot at it one day when you are ready. You may find it a very interesting experience!
