djsurrey
So what I hear you saying is we have adults but adolescent themes. It has been like that all along if one excludes the bedroom stuff. These 20-30 year olds are stuck in perpetual adolescence. Seriously from season one I have been reminded more of my high school days than anything else. It is just the way TBBT is and yet it is the most popular sitcom on TV. It is just light entertainment.

Shamy seems to be the only ones left in total adolescence.
mjc45
glad to see howard and bernie will be moving into the house. was wil trying to get into leonard head? he could have turn the podcast off, but everyone was listing to them talk about the money and should she do the movie. amy had to feel great about the sleep over after last week tardis. rickfromillinois
One of the biggest themes during all of the seasons has been just how juvenile the "nerds" are. If the guys find the need to do some jubenile things to cope with life while living productive lives, so what?
Superlovelexi
Um she's been portrayed as being a good actress, but as a fish outside of her small pond. Did you ignore the part where she said she was willing to help him with some of his loans? What makes you think she's not? Just because she doesn't remind you about it EVERY SINGLE SECOND? Where's the comedy in that? Yeah it's like Leonard has these things called CHARACTER FLAWS. They all have them, sure he's learned alot after all these years. IT DOESN'T mean he knows everything though. Again, where's the comedy in people being 100% reasonable? Yes they both didn't come off in the best of lights, but I don't see where it was overwhelmingly uncomfortable like it could have been. I just saw their argument in the light of both of them getting carried away in the discussion. Agree to disagree then. I just found them annoying in that scene and not at all funny, the fight made them both look immature and selfish. But Kevin and Wheaton's feud was delightful that kept it interesting Edited April 11, 2015 by Superlovelexi
TwinkleTwinkleTiara
I love this episod. It seems all the three storylines are huge. Howard's brother, penny's dream and shamy's sleepover. I hope none of them is thrown away in the future. As to Howard's little brother, I hope they writers make him a ocean biology or something student for a reason. Remember Amy once run a trial on starfish? Maybe turn out that little brother is a fan of Dr. Fowler. Hahaha I want a new weird bonding.
ajond
I think this episode just reinforces a theme that has been present in the show since day one, Penny has all the power in the relationship. I thought in season 6 they were trying to change that, letting Penny feel insecure and threatened by Alex, but ever since the Season 7 scavenger hunt, things have gone back to that theme. The Leonard character has also been marginalized more and more in season 8, he is actually turning into a minion to Sheldon and becoming just Penny's boyfriend who really doesn't have an impact on her life anymore, since like before, in this episode his opinion doesn't matter when Penny wants to do something. Spot on SRAM. I finally got the LP interaction I was looking for. But what interaction, it was excruciating. Squabbling over who earns more and the final indignity when P offered to pay off L's student loans. BTW the rest of the episode was equally poor. He certainly forked over enough money, paid for food, etc. to Penny over the years. it seems to me as a couple his loans are her loans.

Your kidding right? Every time Leonard looks vulnerable around penny people whine. To the point I want to bash my head on a keyboard. I get the feeling some people just want penny to be Leonard's helpless damsel in distress, because they feel every time Leonard looks vulnerable in front of penny they feel emasculated. NEWS FLASH Leonard being vulnerable from time to time does not make him weaker than penny. Same goes for vice versa. Power is not simply about who looks stronger in front of the other person.Agree to disagree then. (something about this mother and thinking that is love and stuff...)i think he has an ulterior motive other than this.....if Penny gets success in acting...he probably thinks penny is going to dump him...so he is trying to stop her...he is just pathetic....the writers are leaving him no redeeming qualities....and also Leonard and howard are being completely emasculated.... easy tv trope...routine comedy...something which this show thrives on....so there is no near ending for that... Why else would he be okay about the audition?

Just like last season.he probably was lying...just like he did in an earlier episode this season...where he was more than fine with penny making more money than him....infact the reason Leonard even agreed in this episode for Penny to audition was to satisfy his ego(he wanted her to lose her current job and probably fail her audition so that he could make more money than her)....but not because of his *love* for Penny...it just shows how much of a *beep* Leonard is.... Chrismo
...if Penny gets success in acting...he probably thinks penny is going to dump him...so he is trying to stop her...... actually I think Leonard thinks just the opposite. she has had minimal success in acting. Certainly not enough to live by herself. This Pharm Rep job has been her first real success since Leonard has known her. IMO he just can't handle it. That's why he's okay with the audition. Odds are she is going to fail at that. Penny has never left him even after breaking up with him in season 3. There is no reason for him to think she's ever going to dump him. I think it was pretty clear from the episode that the reason behind Leonard's acceptance for her audition was to satisfy his ego... and if your reasoning is correct....should'nt it be the opposite....he should'nt be accpeting her audtioning for the role....but he did...because he wanted to satisfy his ego (him earning more than her)... as far as bolded part is considered.... you must have missed the last 7 seasons....lol... I don't think he was lying about protecting her. he saw what happened in the cut role in NCIS. I think he was fine about the money earlier in the season because they weren't talking actual numbers. This episode the numbers actually came out. I think the writers were trying to make this funny, with the Wil interaction, by making Leonard starting out to logical about keeping her job. Then changing his tune and being okay when he knew how much money she made, the one liner at the end by Wil was suppose to be funny but obviously not everyone took it that way

If the writers had intended Leonard to be lying about wanting to protect her from feeling bad about herself, they would have communicated that to the audience in no uncertain terms. On television and in movies, there's always some hint if someone's word is not to be taken at face value. Either they will have the character show it in their face or body language or there will be dialog or reaction from other characters to underscore that it's a lie. Chrismo
I think Leonard has mixed feelings on this. There is no doubt he loves Penny. His wanting to be needed is important to him but he also knows acting is important to Penny. he knows logically the sales job is the safe choice but also realizes with her job, especially after this episode, Penny needs him less. But again the acting is her dream .Logically it is a risky choice but odds are it makes Penny more dependent on him. In this episode though he was put on the spot with no time to logically think about it. Penny is better in a situation like this than Leonard and it showed. That's why IMO he flipped flopped on what he thought she should do.

meka3000
he probably was lying... Why do you think he would lie about this? There's not much in the way of hard evidence to prove your theory.
