CBS has announced the details of the fourteenth episode of the season, "The Einstein Approximation", which will air February 1st.

"The Einstein Approximation" - Sheldon's search for the answer to a physics problem leads him to work at the Cheesecake Factory with Penny, on THE BIG BANG THEORY, Monday, Feb. 1 (9:31-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

That was a great episode!! with a few personal point of view of having sheldon hanged but it was great!!! and I wasn't really off track when I mentioned "old kid" in the thread of next episode, they mentioned the same idea in this one lol :D and the dialogues were really great, and bernadette was excellent. A few well deserved paybacks, it really made me laugh the entire episode. The good thing is that next episode is next week instead of waiting for 2 weeks.

lol, yeah, it was great! But my favorite part probably was the ''it's a wave'' at the end! But I have to explain why!

So if you remember the scene, Sheldon drops the dishes, everyone around applaudes, then he gets the solution to his trouble and shout it out, then says ''Now would be the time to applause'', or something like that! Well here's the thing: I actually applaused before he said that (I live alone, don't worry! lol )! I didn't really understood the problem he was working on, but I knew it was about electrons behaving as if they had no mass in specific circumstances, and when he stated this fact, it just stroke me how it mades so much sense! :D So I applaused, and thus i felt Sheldon's next sentence ironic!

Obviously, the whole episode was pure awesomeness, too! :D

holy shit. I almost pissed myself watching that episode. Best episode... evar! I did not think they could ever top 'The Adhesive Duck Deficiency' episode. Boy, was I ever surprised.

My concern is that more and more episodes seem to be "put the whacko character in a stressful situation and let him act out for a laugh". The really strong writing and ensemble acting seems to be lacking lately in favour of the high-brow equivalent of a fart joke. I found the ball pit thing so contrived as to be embarrassing and the scene with Howard and Raj at the roller rink to be enough to make me turn off the TV.

Don't get me wrong, there were some good laugh moment -- the reboot bit, Bernadette sending Sheldon off to bed, etc. But what happened to the overall brilliance of Work Song Nanocluster or Terminal Decoupling? Get Sheldon out of the ball pits and off the window ledges and put him back into the ensemble trading witty repartee where he belongs or this is going to go down as the season that killed the show.

So true. It's not that the show isn't funny anymore. But this show had the writing and ensemble that could have been used to such great potential and actually become as big as F.R.I.E.N.D.S. Season three started off so well but ever since The Bozeman Reaction something has changed and not for the better. I tried Tweeting to Bill Prady. But god knows if they actually read our Tweets.

Very true. The subtle interactions with the characters and their conversations with one another were what made the show so funny in the first place. WHY in the world are they bringing in mediocre comic slapstick in a show which never needed it?. It's almost as if they're trying to cater to a younger demographic, like kids, which is a silly thing to do.

I agree Sheldon is becoming more and more like a caricature. Less of a human being. He was always obsessed about Science but he still had a real human being underneath. Nowdays it's as if he actually is a robot.

Sheldon is a space cadet intellectual. Why would he know or even care what sheetrock was? I think his looking for a menial job and his comments was one of the funnier episodes I have seen in a long time. What are you.....some kind of closet construction worker!?

Yep, I agree. I'm in two minds about the show at the moment. I love bits of every episode... the geeky bits, the smart bits, the science bits. But some jokes are just plain primitive - Sheldon letting Martha into her room for a cheap sex joke; Howard first not wanting Bernadette because she wasn't perfect and then telling Leonard he should accept that Penny believes in psychics because she was all he's ever going to get; the ball pit bit was funny but when it appeared the second time - I thought, "what was that??"

I have the feeling that the writers are trying "new" things for a "new" audience at the moment ... romance, sex jokes, plain slapstick. And the original, geeky audience is a bit left behind.

That said, I'm glad that they finally integrated the relationships so that they aren't the main topic of the episodes anymore, yet still there for all the romance fans. Bernadette dealing with Sheldon was great!

But I agree with Steve that we're getting a lot of crazy-Sheldon and the-rest-of-the-gang-being-so-annoyed-by-Sheldon-episodes. Why? Jim Parsons is fantastic, Sheldon is great, but I fell in love with the GROUP of friends and their interaction... I'm missing that.

The Howard-and-Raj-rollerskating bit would have made sense if there had been some kind of bet between Howard and Raj... e.g. "if working in the Cheesecake factory helps Sheldon, I'll go rollerskating with you" ... but without any context, it was just cheap.

When the guys went out in the desert to watch the meteorite and then got stoned - that was crazy for me AND made sense with their characters.

Interesting. You have good points. I also found the ball pit scene funny but after two or three bazingas, it lost it's novelty and just looked silly, like the writers didn't know where to take the scene from there. Also, there's nothing wrong with having Sheldon crack in ONE episode, because someone like him is bound to crack at one point or another, but having Sheldon go insane in EVERY episode is just jumping the shark. I really wonder why the makers are tweaking the show so much when it was fine the way it was, because if anything, crazy Sheldon is NOT character development.

Best scene was when Penny woke up to Sheldon standing over her and she screamed.

The "ball pit" bit was a tad overplayed. One or two 'bazingas' would've been enough, but not to keep going. Sheldon already had a strong dislike of 'bouncy castles' etc from childhood, I found it amazing to think his character would like a ball pit. Although, he was sleep deprived. The sheet rock joke is just like Penny asking him about Radiohead. There's things he doesn't know, because, as he's said before, it's not important.

Generally, I liked the show. It's moved away from it's core setup, though.

Yeah. That would definately be bad news. I guess we'll have to wait for Monday to see where exactly they're taking the show, because in my personal opinion, Sheldon's mannerisms and talking style are becoming more and more 'manic' if you will, which is the total opposite of what he was before. Before he was calm, rigid yes, but in a more introverted way. Nowdays he's just jumping around the place with big eyes. Totally a jump the shark from what I think. But I'm still not losing hope, let's wait for Monday.
