Episode 3.15 (Feb 8)

Earlier I made these comments about Show 14, should have been 15 !

Three minutes in and I was getting optimistic ( Bernadette was mentioned ), then "The Sheldon Story" broke; I didn't smile after that. No group banter, NOTHING FUNNY.

I thought Sheldon was someone without normal human emotion, yet he was as

petulant as a five year old denied access to his favourite toy.

Also, I'd like to see more inclusive and positive stories for Raj.

For me, the worst show so far. Sorry to say.

At this moment I'm half way through a Seinfeld, Series 06, show. Having ignored it originally, I rediscovered it last year.

Seinfeld is/was an ensemble show and, I haven't yet seen an exception, each show involves all of The Players exchanging convincingly funny lines.

It's consistently exceptionally funny. The BBT writers should learn from comedy History, and try harder because the BBT is in itself exceptional..

I enjoyed that one. Not many LOL moments but some good ideas.

The hilarious slideshow presentation in the laundry room. Some more crazy nuggets from the roommates' agreement. I actually thought it was interesting to see Sheldon actually try flattery in order to try to get himself invited (unfortunalely, no Mr. Bean smiles this time). I could imagine him being totally baffled by the fact that his logical presentation should not automatically make everone see the obvious rightness of his position. He probably assumed they were hormonally deluded and required a clear and concise presentatation of the facts in order to make them see the error of their ways. So he went away and thought about it and tried a social rather than logical tactic.

What I didnt like was yet another gay Raj scene (at the end) . It actually made me wonder, for the first time if that's where they are slowly bringing the character. If it is, well then fine, but if not , then I just don't find it funny.

You might have a point about Raj. Let's where the next few episodes go. For now the show is good, but not great. The writing needs to improve drastically, not the plot, just the teleplay. Raj and Howard need to get their own tracks (subplots) quickly, before the audience tires of Sheldon-Leonard-Penny scenes. Plus, it seems the writers are already out of ideas when it comes to Leonard and Penny.

Keep in mind that Seinfeld only had had 4 regular cast members. They could practically do a whole show sitting at their table at the coffee shop. With only 20 minutes of actual show time it is hard to give every cast member time to actually have their own plot instead of a few lines. Look at how hard it was to work Sara Gilbert into the show in seasons 1 and 2.

Friends had 6 regulars and when I think about a lot of time Phoebe and Joey and Chandler would only have a few lines in a given show. As it stands now, if they made Bernadette a regular, they would probably have to get rid of Raj.

I agree it's harder to balance the show out. But still. There's needs to be more of Howard and Raj. I just think the writers are always giving them half-baked storylines which is why they don't make much of an impact. If they focused as much on Raj and Howard's parts it would be for the better. In the few times we see them used wisely and mixing and matching with the other characters, it makes for really good viewing. When Raj was talking to Penny in Season 2 it was funny, when Sheldon and Raj were working with each other their scenes and the classic 'eye of the tiger' scene was hilarious. When Howard and Sheldon were arguing over the cricket it was hilarious again, when Howard was lonely and spending time with Leonard and Penny it was hilarious yet again.

We're not asking for much. Making all the characters interact with each other makes for great viewing.

I just watched a re-rerun of The Pirate Solution and it was HILARIOUS. Season 3 truly began with a bang. The episode was so well balanced with the whole cast. It's not just Season 1 and 2 that were good. Season 3 started off fabulously as well. It was only after The Bozeman Reaction or The Psychic Vortex, that the episodes started going downhill. I wonder why.

@sahhar, if they're running out of ideas for penny/Leonard they're in trouble when most of the time all they have them do is lay in bed, could only imagine if they had them do normal couple things.

For the valentine's day crap it's one day a commercialized halmark/candy company day, plus Leonard/penny have 364 other days to be romantic, why v-day because the commercialization says so

Oh come on, if Leonard is really a good friend then he should had taken Sheldon to Switzerland! Sheldon´s reasoning is irrefutable! Sometimes Leonard is really a bastard :(

If I had the morning tune played to me on a recorder when I woke up, I would've taken him to Switzerland.

Yeah..and don´t forget the bread with your favourite character´s face on it!! (in Leonard case was Frodo´s face)

i think to take Penny to CERN is a kick in the nuts of his friendship with Sheldon. But what confuses me is , that none of them found the easiest solution. Penny is not interested in Physics. Only in skiing in Switzerland, while Sheldon is only interested in CERN. Sheldon has enough money and it is not important for him. Why didn't Sheldon Just pay the Ticket himself, so Lennard could have taken him CERN and go skiing with his girlfriend afterwards. Of course Sheldon had to promise, that he keeps away from them for the whole time. ( Sory for the bad English. Its not my first language)

Your point seems logical to me. Could have been quite funny since Sheldon would not be able to go by train.

I would have like it if they could have included a scene with the LHC in the background (they could use blue screen compositing I'd guess).

By the way this video was made in 2008. Easy way to learn a little bit about the LHC and what it is for....

Leonard didn't own the so-called friend Sheldon anything.  Sheldon is the guy that tells Leonard he isn't concerned about anything that is happening in his life and that roommate agreement is to make his (Sheldon) better. Also if Sheldon wanted to go so bad why not buy a ticket, get on a plane and go, after all he can go by himself --- it's isn't Leonard to get him there.

Penny was at the time Leonard's girlfriend and it was during Valentine's Day to booth.  Most couple I know want to spend that date together and so I see nothing wrong with Leonard wanting Penny on the trip with him.

As for Sheldon promising to keep away from Leonard and Penny ---- yea right.  I guess you didn't paid attention to all the times Sheldon broke into either Leonard's bedroom or Penny's bedroom because he wanted whatever from them!

Certainly have to agree with the last point you made.

Valentine's day is a big deal for a lot of new couples and Leonard is really trying to impress Penny.

Perhaps more to the heart of the episode writers of sit coms generally make theme episodes for Christmas and Valentine's day in particular. The LHC was probably included primarily to get the word collision in the title and make a play on words. Oh, well.

By the way the LHC is run by CERN, and it was Tim Berners-Lee who invented the world wide web while working for CERN.

"The web was originally conceived and developed to meet the demand for automatic information-sharing between scientists in universities and institutes around the world."

Personally, this probably was my favorite episode of this season. The chaos of Sheldon and Penny both wanting to go to Switzerland. To be frank, Sheldon's reasoning and what he tells Penny made sense. She wouldn't appreciate where she was and what she was seeing, meanwhile he has been dreaming of this since he was 9. But of course this would make a wonderful trip for Valentine's Day so Penny should have gone too. In the end, yes, Sheldon should have gotten his own ticket so everyone could be happy. I love how both Sheldon and Penny get the flu at the exact same time! 'Are you going to feel better in the morning?' 'Yes, because I'll be dead!' LOL. So Leonard takes Raj! And seeing how happy Raj is! 'Roses! Little chocolates! I'll never forget this.' Aww, he deserved a good time. Easily 10/10. :good:

4 hours ago, Stephen Hawking said:

Sheldon: With the friendship clause of our roommate agreement nullified you are no longer entitled to accompany me to go swimming at Bill Gates’ house should I be invited.

Sheldon can't swim!

He can swim now. He wanted to add swimming to his CV in 10/24. I don't think he meant going swimming literally. Eight years ago he'd have meant sitting around the pool. Probably not his favourite thing but he'd have been willing to force himself for the sake of being at the Gateses' house.
