The relationships have taken over the show's original theme. Honestly, sometimes I wonder what the hell is going on in the writers' heads. I understand that happy couples probably are boring to watch, but the relationship conflicts on this show have been pathetic and irritating to watch sometimes.

I think it's high time Sheldon makes his entrance a lot less frequent. He has his girlfriend back, one he should likely be spending more quality time with and coitusing  on the regular, that should keep him very busy and hopefully out of the Hofstaders' air. Penny and Leonard would do themselves a great justice taking a long vacation, like an extended honeymoon, far away from Sheldon. The physical and mental living space would be a nice temporary bandage over the emotional wounds created by their forced parenting of a grown man.

This show has gone from a very lovely and clever sitcom about geeks/nerds/scientists to a soap opera now. That’s not my investment for so long. Ok, I’m not a casual ‘shipper’ but I love Penny/Leonard in this brillant show since Season 1 and it has been a very hysterical
journey. I just want to see them accomplish 10 seasons (or more) of fresh inventive comedy.
How about that, writers?

I really think it's time that I take a step back from the forums and the show in order to take a break from everything. 

The Discussion Thread is fucking ugly right now so I find very little happiness there. I dislike the Sheldon and the Shamy Show that TPTB insist on giving us. I've been pretty much disenfranchised since Season 7 when they drew out the engagement, Season 8 was a total cluster and Season 9, for me, has provided very little joy. My disappointment grows from week to week -- I really don't know why I'm here. 

So I'm just going to step back and take a bit of a break from everything because I'm hoping that absence truly does make the heart grow fonder and that will make me want to revisit Lenny again. At this point, for me, to continue being a fan, I think it's all that I have left right now.

Karen, you just basically wrote what I said about a month ago to you and a few others in a PM.  You know I totally understand.  I have refused to comment in certain threads because of ugliness that is running rampant.  I just don't see the need for it.  Maybe it's just me.  I have been getting my fill of Lenny goodness though through fanfiction (either writing or reading it).  I encourage anyone to read some of the great Lenny stories out there.  And yes a shameless plug for the one I am writing now (see kaseyonline on ff.net).

Penny's career and her relationship with Leonard will be front and center again. "We followed this arc of Sheldon and Amy pretty heavily throughout the first half of season nine, so now I think it’s a good time for us to take a breather and a step back and explore and check in with everybody else," says Molaro. "We’re going to check in on Penny’s career. When Penny and Leonard were making Thanksgiving dinner [in last month's episode] and she couldn’t remember his birthday was just the greatest example of Johnny and Kaley and Leonard and Penny at their best. They were fighting, but it wasn’t ugly, and it was adorable and fun, and I couldn't get enough of that type of situation between them."

A Lot of things Molaro says about what's is going to happen in future episodes should be taken with a grain of salt and will be one episode and done with except if it's Sheldon. I'm assuming the next two episodes are the start of the second half of the season. If so then the first episode he is talking penny career and lenny dealing with their issues and that's it, because the next episode after is about the gang going to Vegas. That basically what he was talking about. So I wouldn't take his word that there will be a long story arch for Lenny or the others. Except of course it's a Sheldon's new growth to deal with. Not going to build up my hopes just to be disappointed again and again. When it comes to Lenny.

There is a bit on the TR when Leonard comes back from the shrink and Leonard says something nice to penny and her attitude was yeah, yeah whatever i dont care what did she say? As soon as leonard said the shrink agrees to meet penny all of a sudden he is the best husband. I know MJ said it was a throw away line but i see it differently. Another example this season where penny takes him for granted and it seems like lenny are only funny when they are fighting according to Molaro.

I agree the show has done a 180.  Lenny took care of Penny for seven years and now she is completely independent.  Meemaw likes Penny and hates Amy, but Amy was able to get the cookie recipe last year?  Sheldon can leave without notice, threaten breakups left and right, but Amy can't ask for a breakup.  The writers seem so determined to destroy the characters of Amy and Leonard without Penny or Sheldon looking like the culprit.  No other characters have a decent storyline.

Hey you lovely lenny it's with great sadness and this has been a really hard decision for me but I have finally had enough and decided this show is not for me anymore.

I just don't find the show to my liking anymore. It's not balanced anymore and this decision is not at all to do with all the shamy but I feel the show has turned into the Sheldon show every episode is about Sheldon while lenny just sit there with no arc, and when they do it's all drama that never gets resolved, as many of you know I'm not Sheldon's biggest fan. I do not like the way lenny has been diminished and just forgotten. It's like last season all over again when they got engaged and was forgotten and left in the background. This season they are doing it again but this time they are married doing exactly the same and background characters to feed Sheldon's ego while Sheldon resolves his issues. Like lenny haven't got issues of their own to resolve or a future. I did not sign up for that. I probably pop in here once in awhile but no point coming in here if I'm not watching the show. I might watch it when its on E4 if i happen to come across it. All the best and keep enjoying the show. It's just too dramatic for me now, especially when it comes to Lenny who were the reason I started watching the show in the first place. They will always have a place in my heart and my OTP and will never forget the great memories. On that note I I'm out. Peace.

I love TV characters because they entertain me. I’m not getting mad at a character for entertaining me. I don't love any TV character as a person, because they're not people. They're characters. So why do you blame the actors?

After the top 3 got their million dollar contracts for season 8-10, season 8 was poorly written where one relationship progressed and all the other characters were either trashed or stagnant.  I had high hopes that season 9 and 10 would flesh out ALL the characters and season 10 would wrap up everything nicely on a high note.  

However, instead there was nothing but drama for season 9 and then a quickie reconciliation and Shamy coitus to boost ratings and continue the tease of a ring right before they announce in January that season 11 might be possible.  It is like everything is being pandered to garner interest from a younger crowd for two show character favorites (Jim and Kaley) and cheating loyal viewers who invested years into watching ALL the characters and their stories unfold.  

During the People's Choice Awards, Kaley said she hopes the show continues past season 10.  During an interview, Jim had mentioned that the show would probably last about ten years and if the writing started to suffer he could not see continuing the show.  Sadly, he doesn't seem to have that same conviction anymore.  While Jim will always be one of my favorite actors, I also love Kunal, Melissa, Simon, Mayim, Sara Gilbert, Christine Baranski, Laurie Metcalf, John Ross Bowie, Regina King, and countless others who added their own talents and depth to the show.  The show used to showcase people you could look up to and admire.  Now it is nothing but a popularity contest.

Yes, it's sad. Indeed it is. I can fully understand the reasons of those who decided to leave and I respect their decision. I hope at some point the show can become that again, for what they have watched it for many years, so they can return to enhance this thread resp. this forum again.

I will stay, watch all forthcoming episodes and keep track of Lenny's way ...no matter what.

LOL WOAH a lot of overreactions going on here. I GET the tapin?is a continuation of a relationship vortex. Where it used to be a bunch of geek's helping each other through it. Now they seem to be pitted against each other. Its lost its geeky and endering charm. But the reaction here is not a General oh this show is teetering response. But Ive finnnally jumped the cliff response lol. Their was nothing in the taping ThAt was bad for Lenny, so just settle down huh. Amy was out last episode. So Shamy ep per usual was happening a mile away. At this stage, some of you are going to get more frustrated and frustrated as the show goes on. This ain't a show about the geek and the hot girl anymore. It aint even about The Big Bang Theory anymore. But centrically about one character and his world. Seeing his world is Amy, well their you go. Its become a soap opera. Every damn storyline needs to be some kinda Relationship Baggage. Shamy with Meemaw, then Raj with meeting a new girl, Lenny therapy etc.

The characters have become faceless. Lenny should of NEVER got married. Clearly Penny is crazy about Leonard. But shes simply not ready to be married. She clearly acted on an impulse. And now shes regretting an unfulfilled life, career wise. Lack of self worth etc. Too much baggage going in, that tptb decided to ignore as the only develop ment THEY like with Lenny currently is drama Nd angst for the sake of it. But then bury it under the rug. They had a wedding 9 years in the making. And they turned into some kinda gag, and All Aboard The Sheldon Train. Lenny are clearly generally happy. At this point Penny hasn't made any rash, severe decisions. She still seems happily MARRIED.

But I feell the thing's sje Said well come to a head later in the season. But to be fair I don't agree some. Bashing moloro. When he said he cant get enough of Lenny in Platonic. They weren't fighting. They were arguing, but it wasn't nasty. It was theur unique Banter, and was light hearted. Shows how far they've grown. That in the past that would of degenerated into an argument. So I agree with Moloro their. I feel some arr just being drama queens for the sake pf it though lol. Oh im leaving! Did anyone of you not expect the show to be like this in s3?

The moment they added Amy. Then eventually Four Couples. Is the moment it became a relationship. Driven focused show. Since then tptb seem incapable of writing Lenny Light Hearted Plots. Paint Canvas was the true exception last season. But they seem to feel 95% of marriages are one big power struggle. That ppl want to see Lenny struggle in the 9th season. No they just want you to leave then alone and go be bored elsewhere lol. Sure in the background Lenny seem happy. But you get closer, its really ugly.

I'm really sad to see the both of you go.  I've always enjoyed your posts and takes on things.  You'll both be missed, and welcomed with open arms if you ever decide to come back.

I like Sheldon and Shamy, and even I'm finding the imbalance annoying.  I think the writing really took a hit in the past couple of seasons.  I haven't been overly interested in Season 9.  They really dropped the ball with the Lenny wedding.   There could have been so many episodes with funny wedding planning, and families meeting, finally ended in a sweet and beautiful wedding.  It was rushed.  Even the Shamy coitus resolution seems a bit rushed.  It feels like everything is more for ratings now.

But hope runs eternal!  I hope to see you both back and your fave couple in a good and happy place on the show (WITH A STORYLINE!!)

Oooh I wanted to ask...I am somewhat spoiler free (although I did read the whole meemaw thing).  What is going on in the discussion thread?  Can anyone sum it up for me in one or two sentences?  I just don't want to get overly spoiled.

The discussion thread: well Lionne (hereafter refered to as the emperor) went full bitch and insulted me, specific others, Lenny in general, Kaley Cuoco personally and basically anyone who didn't meet her standards as posters abetted by nickellette (hereafter refered to as Vader) and they did their best to drive out any dissenters. I used the ignore button and now that thread is fine lol

Sad to see you both go, Karen and Tonstar but it may well be for the best FOR NOW. We watch shows for enjoyment and if you're not getting the enjoyment, it's better to find joy elsewhere. Life's too short to get emotionally beat up over fictional characters - or my other emotional roller coaster, underachieving football teams. I can certainly empathise with your feelings, worried about both of you in the last 12 months and hope you have copies of good Lenny to reminisce with. 

I do think the forum has become as big an issue as the diminished Lenny brand. When I strolled into this place 2 years ago when I was bitten by the Big Bang obsession bug, I found such a friendly environment to be in. The show was less than perfect back then but we seemed to be able to accept differences of opinions and handle disappointments with humour and respect. I looked forward to waking up in Oz to catch up on the northern hemisphere had to say and felt welcomed by people I was never likely to meet. It was everything Facebook and entertainment website comments section weren't. Now, though, the joy seems to have been sucked out of the place, and the whole place not just this thread. We seem to react to opinions of what might happen rather than what does happen. We seem determined to win arguments rather than have discussions. We seem obsessed with being offended by disagreement. We seem incapable of not fueling trolling behaviour. It's become everything I don't like about the Internet and a caricature of what anti social media campaigners over exaggerate to make their case. Spoilers used to mean finding out stuff before it's happened. Now it's just spoiling people's enjoyment. Am I overreacting?

Maybe, I don't know. Maybe like Penny I yearn for when life was simpler and I just came to share an opinion on an episode instead of scrolling through pages of vitriol and oneupmanship. I'm not signing off from the show - I still enjoy it and am still planning to see a taping in 2017 when I visit. And the forum? I'll continue to use it to build my resilience against bullshit, continue to share opinions on episodes and the couple that mirror my life and pull away when necessary if it gets too depressing. 

Sorry for the rant. I meant to just say all the best to Karen and Tonstar. It may even get moved because it's not a supportive statement about Lenny. But that doesn't seem to happen much anyway.

I chose my new avatar for a reason this forum has become unfriendly to Lenny's outside of this thread and now it has even come in here. 

Star wars is a fun way to dress it up but we really have become an oppressed minority here, and it is very much open season on Lenny's and any Shamy who dosent toe the party line.

It has allready cost us many posters and will cost us many more if it continues which I have no doubt it will. So we can save our sanity and withdraw or fight to the bitter end. Oh well I think sanity is over rated anyway.
