[Spoilers] Shamy: Season 9

Tensor

Recommended Posts

Yeah they go through dragging out periods with all the characters. I can remember times when it looked like Lenny, or Howardette hadn't really showed any real sign of affection between them for a number of episodes. So there is precedence there that you can have a kissing scene one week and 4 or 5 episodes later you haven't seen another similar scene between those characters.

It's a complex relationship and I've probably never seen anything like it which is probably a large part of the appeal for me. Sometimes you just have to sit back and react to how it plays out instead of 'overanalysing' (which I do all the time lol even though I tell myself not to!), maybe we should just trust that their relationship is in a good place now until or if something rears its head again.

IKR? He was such a lovestruck puppy with her! I mean, yes, he's getting along better with everyone now it seems but with Amy I feel it's an extra level of comfort and familiarity and vulnerability and, of course, love. Yes, sometimes he messes up because nobody is perfect. But for the most part we've seen him with her he was a big old hippie. <3

Someone please make a gif compilation with all the moments when he's all ~heart eyes~ at her. I love his "Amy face"!

Not to be a party pooper here but what he literally said was: "I look forward to your next birthday when we do it again." While the time frame is ridiculous for humorous effect (Molaro really likes that joke more than it deserves lol) the positive thing I take away from this is that it underlines he really liked it and he isn't dreading it when it'll happen again, like some people outside of this thread sometimes claim. That the character was never one who'll be obsessed with sex like the other guys are and he most likely has his urges well under control, plus the fact that Amy agreed to this and from his oblivious point of view hasn't uttered any wishes to speed up their schedule, makes it all rather plausible to me that they haven't engaged in another round of lovemaking so far.

I don't think Amy has (yet) found a way to tell him what she wants but by now she understood that they still sometimes have communication issues and need to work on that. And I also hope that seeing Sheldon being so oblivious to Mary's and Alfred's flirting gave her a hint that his responses to her subtle flirting attempts were not him turning her down but rather that he simply didn't understand what she wanted.

However, I surly wouldn't complain if for some reason the writers decide "Bazinga! They did it in secret all along!" LOL So I'm really not telling you to not entertain that idea as long as you can. It'll be a long hiatus either way so why not have some fun in the meantime! ;D

The bold! When I saw that scene and Amy's double take of Sheldon (when instead of confirming Amy's observations when she asked him "You know whats happening here right?" and he instead talked about the bread), I hoped this emphasized with Amy that he is still somewhat clueless with social cues and flirting. Probably still true of sarcasm too. With her recent pondering of their backsliding in the communication department I hope she sees opportunity in fine tuning the way she reacts to Sheldon's clueless remarks to her flirty comments, and maybe is more forthright when she's being serious and not joking :)

LOL That is exactly the scene I was thinking of! Just that look on her face was so priceless: between being bewildered by his sheer obliviousness and a hint of a dawning realisation. Like you, I think there's a lot of potential with those story bits - both for comedic scenes and a heartfelt moment between the two. It could be a first step for them to refine their communication and it could also be a way to either put those "Sheldon is oblivious" jokes to good use for once or use it as an opportunity to phase them out altogether over time.

He literally said that he couldn't wait for her next birthday, so for me it's always been clear that they would do it again before her next birthday.

Actually, what he said was:-

"I look forward to your next birthday, when we do it again."

That's not the same as:-

"I can't wait for your next birthday."

If they do decide to keep that line as actual canon, a lot of fans won't be happy with it and will end up being one of those lines the writers regret (like Fiasal).

I hate the Fiasal comment, as it implies that Amy is, technically engaged to him.

I'm dreading the possibilty, that they might bring Fiasal into the show, looking to claim Amy as his bride.

That won't happen. That's one throw away line the writers have said they regret because fans kept bugging Bill about it and they've said forget about it.  Fiasal will never be mentioned again.

The Troll Manifestation was on tv again the other day and man it's such a great episode. Would anyone else like to see the Amelia/Cooper fan fiction referenced again one day? Though maybe it was a one off story, maybe Amy stopped writing it after the girls made fun of it at first (though they really got into it!) or because of the breakup. I've always wondered what Sheldon would make of it as well if he found out about it (I guess it's possible Leonard might have told him).

Judging by how grossed out he was, I'm thinking it went into the realm of That Which Must Not Be Mentioned Again.  Penny might have said something, though.

Penny and Bernie were really into it.  It shows that Amy is  a skilled writer.  It would be nice to see it referenced again. A new chapter or 2.  It brings out Amy's quirky non-mainstream/offbeat side. And JP looked smokin' hot in that sketch.

Cool. :cool:

Ofcourse you do ! Fan fiction writers are amazing and talented ! And we don't usually get to see them on mainstream TV shows. But we should, especially on shows like TBBT

I love the fanfiction stuff so much! Not only that Amy is writing it (she's usually not painted as that much of a fangirl with the stuff she likes but this is like one of the ultimate fangirl hobbies*), but also that the story got such a positive spin in that it started out as an evening of the girls embarrassing each other but then they really got into it**. In the last years it's been a bit of a "thing" to drag out fanfics and fanart in, for example, interviews with actors and more often than not it has always this "haw haw, those fangirls be crazy, amirite??" undertone that is kinda mean and it's great that a show like TBBT didn't do that.

(* yes, I know there are plenty of male fanfic writers as well but from my experience it's a very female dominated area)

(** and it's even better knowing this basically happened just like that in the writers room lol bless them)

Just watched the Shamy scenes from Platonic Permutation on that  magical place that I can't link. Mayim was right, it was a beautiful episode (I think that was the word she used). Especially the aquarium scene. There was a lot of nuance packed into the dialogue in all their scenes.

Does anyone have any guesses as to when Amy first fell in love with Sheldon ?

Personally, I think she started having a  crush on him in season 4 at some point and then when she had the opportunity to kiss him, she grabbed it (even though she was drunk but sometimes you are more likely to speak the truth under such circumstances).

He liked the kiss and even kissed her back if you look closely so I reckon that he also had a crush on her then. Amy probably knew she loved him by season 6 ( poor girl was blinded :girlglasses:) and Sheldon figured out it WAS love he was feeling for Amy during his 45 day train trip when he had plenty of time to reflect on everything.

Amy really is incredibly special to Sheldon.

Four years ago, he wanted a seven-day course of penicillin, some syrup of ipecac, and a mint, just because he drank a mouthful of water from Leonard's glass.

Now, in the course of a couple of weeks, he's gone from kissing Amy with closed mouths, to French Kissing, to full on coitus.

Since the Troll Manifestation was being discussed here, I wanna point out that it was quite different from usual TBBT episodes. IDK why,  but I loved that the show was a bit self-referential about Shamy and internet trolls, in that episode. Very Meta. Shows like 30 Rock and Community did that all the time.

And a bit of Eye Candy :

I'll never get tired of this pic!  I think Troll Manifestation was by far one of my most fave episodes.  The guys were close and having fun and success, the girls were bonding in the most hilarious way.  The fanfic!  I loved Amy's fanfic, it was so quirky yet sexy.  A+++

In terms of fun forum activities and since it's gotten a bit quiet here:

A reminder for anyone who isn't lurking much outside this thread- you can cast your votes for your favourite episodes of S9 until tomorrow!

Currently Opening Night is leading (to the surprise of no one) but a lot of other fab Shamy episodes are in the Top 8. There are still some fluctuations on the bottom half on the list so your vote can still influence the outcome!

~~~
And since we're at it: Technically we already had the "What are your favourite Shamy episodes this season?" discussion a couple of weeks ago but now that the whole season is over and opinions had a few weeks to stew how do you think about it now? And for any newcomers feel free to chime in! Don't be shy! ;)
