Maybe the writers are letting us know via the characters that yes Amy will marry someone else and Sheldon will be a broken shell of his former self

Do you really think that's what will happen? Come on!

Well they keep dropping little shenny things in and Steve molaro loves shenny going by his recent comments

This better be a joke, because it is an otherwise ridiculous post, JMO

No, I think Sheldon will date the Vanessa girl for five years and then propose to her using that ring.

You see? This IS a great joke. :icon_cheesygrin:

Well, as everyone keeps pointing out, this is a comedy, even if it is a comedy of errors.  But not every moment has to be funny.

Was it funny when Penny walked out on Leonard at the bowling alley?  And speaking of endgame, were not Leonard and Penny endgame all along?  Even though they went through a total breakup, dating and sleeping with others, etc.?

Similarly, while Amy and Sheldon are broken up and seem to be willing to at least entertain the idea of dating others, they are not irrevocably destroyed.  Just because they've always been able to talk things through and haven't yet sat down to talk about this yet doesn't mean they won't be able to do so in the future.

They were never perfect.  Most of the time, Amy had to pull teeth to get Sheldon to cooperate or to understand.  So she hit the wall at this point.  That doesn't mean that they'll never be able to talk again, or that they've lost their quirkiness.  I mean, wasn't their newfound level of kissing and their ILYs just like any other couple?  Maybe how they first came to it might have been unusual, but in reality, that aspect of their relationship was just like any other couple, TV or otherwise.

So, if their romance was somewhat "normal", why cannot their arguments or frustrations or their breakup be at least somewhat like any other couple?  And they're not on again/off again, as some have said.  They've only been off, and only for a short time as of now.

I don't think things are as dire as all that.  Yes, it's a logical sequence of events, but I say that to point out that the writers are not pulling this story out of their collective a$$es, as some keep asserting.

And I don't think that it's being dragged out.  If they had suddenly gotten back together, then people would be screaming that it was all for nothing!!!, which some have already done.

As I have said before, we really can't tell anything about the point or meaning of their breakup until we get to the end of the story.  If we give up now, it's like starting to read The Stand, but giving up when the country has been decimated by the disease, never seeing it through to the end of the story.  There might be ups and downs along the way, but that doesn't mean that the story doesn't have, in this case, an eventual happy ending.

As for the Shamy fans being broken, don't count me in that group.

I appreciate your positive attitude, and I agree with you that we won't know how this is all played out until the end when all the pieces are put together and then the full picture makes sense.

While I appreciate that you don't feel this is being dragged out, I do.   I think this could have ended with their conversation on the stairwell without either one of them having to date anyone, but it is what it is now, and I have to go with it.   I will also end up accepting it because it's part of canon now.

I know the Lenny fans had it as bad, but I'm on the Shamy thread to discuss Shamy not to do a comparison over which shipper had it worse.   I don't feel that my opinion that this story line has not been funny should be negated by a comparison to a not-funny Lenny moment which has nothing to do with now where we are at now in the Shamy timeline.

I would also like to clarify that my statements such as the Shamy fans being broken aren't meant to include all, only to acknowledge that we exist.  So, I apologize if I misrepresented you.

Please quit picking on Rachel.  I do think there are some signals that have been very confusing to fans and have made a lot of discomfort and unease in the fan base period. There are really some fans that still believe that Sheldon will end up with Penny despite all the "evidence" as you all seem to see that he won't.   There are many fans that think Shamy will be end-game, yet right now the gap between them is growing and not shrinking.   Just because Rachel sees some question as to where the writers are going to go with this, many fans have expressed unpredictability of the writers with this story.  While they may feel that Shamy are end-game and no possibility of Shenny, the point is, the story right now could still go many directions and yes....the writers could pull a HIMYM and surprise everyone and have Howardette divorce and have Sheldon marry Bernie...I mean it is seems crazy and unlikely, but the writers have been very unpredictable and have been continuing with a story that has snowballed to where fans are getting very nervous as to whether or not these two can ever be repaired.   And if they can be repaired, would they be so different and their dynamic be so different that it is no longer a couple that is enjoyable to watch?   We really have no idea how this will end because we are not in the writers room.  Only they possibly know where they are heading with this.

While I agree from a business perspective, I suspect Shamy will end up reuniting and will end up end-game, but that doesn't mean that fans will enjoy them like they used to because the dynamic could have changed so drastically that they are no longer unique, quirky and fun to watch.  That would be tragic, but I don't think many of us would have ever have expected the story to get where it is now and where they are so uncomfortable around each other that it is heartbreaking.

I was looking at comments on an EW article yesterday and the comments were all over and yes there were some there saying that Sheldon will end up with Penny.   Some felt they should get rid of Amy altogether because she is no longer Sheldon's girlfriend.  Some wanted to see Amy get a hot new guy.  Some wanted to see Sheldon admit he was gay.  Some wanted to see Sheldon go back to being robotic.   I mean this just brings to point what Phanta said earlier about the fans being everywhere and having so many varying opinions that  the writers can't listen to fans and therefore the writers will write what they want to write.  But we are not privvy to where they plan to go and how this show will end.   We can make assumptions and feel we know what makes best business sense from our own perspectives, but that does not mean that one person is more right than the next.   Only those in the writing room will get to decide, we won't.

So quit picking on people because they are nervous and seeing unpredictability that has taken away fan confidence.

I'm not picking on any one person, but just because someone imagines something outrageous doesn't mean that it is likely to happen.  Nor is it any fun to have these unrelentingly pessimistic posts essentially banging on every post that seeks to find the truth of the storyline.

And just because I am addressing certain statements that I (and others) find ridiculous or outlandish doesn't mean that I'm picking on anyone.  I could say the same thing about anyone who disagrees with my posts, but the truth is that we're all going to contradict posts with which we disagree, no matter who is posting.

What I meant in mentioning the Lenny breakup is that just because they were broken up doesn't mean that they were no longer endgame, which is what some people are asserting--that Shamy is no longer endgame because of this breakup.  The point of being endgame is that no matter what happens, they're going to end up together.  That their relationship will ultimately be strong enough to survive even a breakup.

And I have faith in the storyline, in the ultimate strength of the Shamy, and even in the writers.

Thanks to melody :)

Also if people wish to believe shamy are endgame and are enjoying the current storyline then that is absolutely fine but I am not (have I mentioned that lately?)

I just want to see something that might suggest they are going to get back together because I see nothing right now and not even the failure of their dates is linked to them getting back together, right now for me this storyline sucks big time and before anyone else says I don't speak for the majority

In My Opinion

One thing we should all agree on is that We shouldn't believe the writers

Of course they have a plan, they just want to throw the viewers off and get them watching

You make a very good point. I know this is mean but I have to admit that I laugh every time I read, "BUT THE WRITERS SAID!........THEY LIED!....." LOL.

Like you said, they like to throw us off and of course they can't tell us every detail about what's REALLY going to happen. It's best to see it for yourself so you're not pissed off later.

Why do you take things so personally..my comment wasn't even directed at you specifically.  Honestly the writers have been known to be outlandish at times and yes ridiculous.  They may not seem plausible to you  and you don't have to agree with them, but you contradict anyone that does not agree with you all the time.  You can dish it but never take it.  Just quit taking things personally.  This was not even directed toward you!

So agree!   I hate it when fans immediately compare Lenny and Shamy.  They have never been alike and should not even be compared.   And I agree...I feel this story has dragged on far too long and is very inorganic because it is defying everything that Shamy have been in the past with each other...which is good at communicating and resolving problems immediately.  This one could have been resolved so many times over and it is annoying to watch it unravel and unravel more and unravel more.   It is taking away from other characters, from other plotlines and even from other aspects of these two characters.   It is an annoying story and yes canon and therefore we are stuck with it, but it does not mean we have to like it, nor does it mean that we have to want to see it continue and keep unraveling further.

Thank you for the clarification.

I too have faith that they will end up together.  I really do.

However, it doesn't make me enjoy this storyline at all, and I want it over and done with.   While I understand why it has to happen now because of the way things have been developed, that Sheldon and Amy have brought this mess on themselves, that doesn't mean that I'm not going to gripe about it along the way.

Also, I am partially with Rachel.   While I don't think something drastic like Shenny or Sheldonnette will ever happen, I am concerned about the direction they are going with this, particularly with Amy, who has yet to reveal anything to us except a facial expression.   Right now all indicators are that they are going their separate ways and we have no indication at all, absolutely none, they have any intention of reconciling.   Every episode we hope, and with each episode they grow further apart.   So, there is extremely valid reason for concern.

So, yes, they will eventually reconcile, but when?   After everything that we grew to love them for has been destroyed?   After we've seen individual sides to both of them that make us wonder where the appeal is anymore?   I never thought I would ever see Amy being as cold and uncaring as she is now, and it has polluted my view of her somewhat.

When they reconcile, will we get an improvement of what we had, or will we get something totally unrecognizable and unbelievable to where we frankly just don't care anymore?

I think Rachel and others who feel the same way she does deserve a little bit of empathy for their concern on how the writers intend to rebuild the bridge of Shamy without losing the essence of all the things we fell in love with them for.    Many of us are very unhappy right now, but some of us are taking it harder than others.

I think Bernadette's line about preferring to be chosen by someone because they really wanna be with her and not because they think they don't have any other choice rings true for any couple, not just Lenny. It's one of my favorite lines from the whole show. I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing for both Sheldon and Amy to see what else is out there. They're not the same people they were 5 years ago. They've opened each other up for more and I'm sure it won't take long for them to realize that they're it for each other. I get how frustrating it is, I've suffered through many seasons of it, but it also lead to some of my favorite moments in the series.

Not sure if this makes any of the Shamy fans feel better. If not, I've got cookies...?

Thank you for the cookie offer...I will just accept y our optimism....trying to cut out sugar.  :girlwink:

Yes, yes, and more yes (other than some of us might still gripe along the way because this story is annoying the heck out of us... )

One more thing I wanted to add:

Just because a couple breaks up doesn't mean their relationship isn't strong enough. I hate when people rely on their partners and wanna be "fixed" by them. No. Sort out your own issues for yourself in order to be a suitable partner to someone instead of being someone's charity work. Maybe Amy's issue is that she feels like Sheldon's relationship tutor. I hope we'll get a proper explanation of her POV soon.

But there is no relationship at all right now, not even a friendship one, which Lenny did maintain during their break-up(s).

So Lenny's endgame was always in sight, Shamy's endgame has dissapeared beyond the horizon.

it's definitely more peaceful   x D
If it wasn't so quiet i would only hang there, i  think here we're all  often being overly negative tbh (

Maybe we all should do an experiment and be Spoiler Free until Shamy are back together. Hahaha. I wonder how many would be strong enough?? LOL.

I can tell you that I would not be able to be spoiler free. I prefer to be "prepared" before I watch.  I am just thankful to spoilers!

Nobody's picking on Rachel. That being said Rachel posts her opinions on this forum in general, and this thread in particular, as it is her right. However all other posters also have a right to express an opinion on what she says. Last time I checked this is an open forum, it is not? If Rachel says something with absolutely no factual evidence, people can very fairly qualify it as ridiculous or far-fetched. That doesn't mean anybody's picking on her, but if  she says things that are contrary to what we have seen on the show and there is nothing to support her claims, what can realistically be expected? For people to side with her? I empathize with her pain (about the Shamy split) , I just cannot agree with her deductions or share her conclusions.

I respectfully disagree.   I suppose again, it depends...what one person sees another does not.  For example you may think she does not have any basis for the writers going with a Shenny down the road, yet I could tell you that they have many times experimented with as "romantic" Shenny (the laundry room, the fall in love experiment, the nightmare kiss, etc.).   While they may have ended as "proof" to some that they were not meant to be, but in all cases, they were also left with enough vagueness and possibility that one could agree and argue her point.   The point is...your assessment that her comments have absolutely no factual evidence is not necessarily true.  To her they have factual basis and obviously to some other fans around the net because you see similar comments and concern (and yes even from Shamy fans, not just Shenny fans).   So there you have it...your may not agree with her deductions or share her conclusions or even see her evidence...but that in no way means that her assertions are ridiculous or far-fetched.   My point is you have no idea what the writers will end up doing nor does any fan...only those in the writers room (hopefully) have an idea of where they will go and the various journeys to get there.

Yes it is fine to disagree, and it is fine to express a varying opinion, but calling someone ridiculous for having a notion on something that is just as plausible as not is not fair.  There is plenty of times the writers have toyed with Shenny that you could argue that it is possible.  It is not completely out of the realm, even if it seems extremely unlikely.   "Just because you don't see molecules does not mean they don't exist" as Sheldon would say.   Therefore it is best to just agree to disagree with someone rather than start to insult them or call them "ridiculous" or any other adjective or name.

And I respectfully disagree with you. There are several things that you got wrong in your post. I never called Rachel far-fetched or ridiculous, just 2 of her posts. There is a difference. Secondly the beauty about facts is that they do not need to be believed in, they are just there to be examined. However if you invent facts, then that is another story. The laundry room was Amy's fantasy, the Shenny kiss was Leonard's nightmare, and the love experiment didn't work, so I'm sorry to say the assumption has no factual basis whatsoever and that is why I called it ridiculous and still think it is . Furthermore you are choosing to ignore a LOT more evidence to the contrary that we have seem all throughout the show.

I'll say it once more and for the last time because it's not even worth to waste more time discussing this: I have CALLED NO ONE ridiculous, and I have INSULTED NO ONE. I  gave my opinion on 2 of her posts. As simple as that. I gave you the reason why I think this way, so I really fail to see what the problems is. Btw, I have actually supported my claims, so. Furthermore, come to think of it, isn't this supposed to be a supportive Shamy thread? Speaking of Shenny is none too supportive, IMO

I agree to disagree with you.  Honestly, again "Just because you can't see molecules does not mean they don't exist"...you may not see things as evidence that other people do.  I think things can be supported either way...your way or how Rachel views it, but that does not make either of you right or wrong.  Just know that what you see isn't always what others see so be careful even calling their posts names because that can often be interpreted to the poster as calling them names.  You can disagree and give supporting data, but calling a post a negative adjective is indirectly telling the poster that they are that adjective and I know you may disagree with that but people get sensitive and to them it is the same thing.  Now I will drop and not reply to any further discussion on the matter for I feel that the point has been beat to death.   So therefore I agree to disagree.

calling people's post ridiculous is the same as calling the poster ridiculous and I don't care for your rude opinions on my opinions and if my posts bother you that much then just don't respond to them
