RoRo Posted October 23, 2015 Posted October 23, 2015 I hesitate to believe Mayim, and I want to believe her because she admits she doesn't watch the show and the last time she called an episode awesome, Sheldon got on a train and left. Cherry Posted October 23, 2015 Posted October 23, 2015 OK, first I was happy, but now I'm curious and a little worried too.How do you go from episode " Amy and Shaldon are dating others " to a " beautiful episode with tons of Shamy " ?The ring? Well, I've already said that before, but I would totally hate for Amy to come back just because of a ring. It's really sad.

She won't come back for a trinket, however flashy or imbued with family history. Amy will only come back to Sheldon because she loves him, and he is willing to commit to her and their relationship. mothandfire Posted October 23, 2015 Posted October 23, 2015 (edited) "Tons of Shamy" is exactly what we've been waiting for!I mean, be it a complete reconciliation or not, presumably they will finally have "the talk"! phantagrae Posted October 23, 2015 Posted October 23, 2015 Jim's a classicly trained actor he's not just gonna lie there and say the words cause he doesn't care. He anaylises eveything and anything Sheldon in those scripts he's given cause that's what you as an actor. How do you think he's gotten awards? And a star? Because of the work ethic that man has and the efforts he goes to in order to convincingly play Sheldon. The writers don't write motive. Unless it's written by actors who do it naturally but I'm telling you now the writers don't write the motives. They write he beginning, middle and end. It's the actors job to put motive behind it and how they get the end the writers have written, they work out the journey and how their characters gets from A to B in the length of time they have. Yes it's 19 minutes, but that's why the likes of Jim do the work they do becuse they don't have a 3 hour play to watch their motivations and objectives play out. Look at that stairwell scene with Amy and Sheldon. Even Mayim said it herself. Jim and herself put hours of backstory that we, the audience, don't see to help give depth to Shamy. Pretty sure even Kaley and Johnny do some of that. I'm telling you that stairwell scene wouldn't have been as powerful as it was if they hadn't put all that work in because without it Mayim wouldn't have been so effected and we wouldn't have got that reaction from Mayim.Everything you need to know in Shakespeare is written on the page for you but you still have to work out motive and objections too so enough with Shakepeare that totally didn't mean to turn into a rant but I'm very passionate about actors and their work I would like to agree and disagree with you here. I agree that the actors aren't just spouting words and not thinking about the inner lives of the characters. They don't have the whole story, perhaps, bit they also don't work in a vacuum. During the week they have opportunity to discuss the scenes with the writers and director as to how they all agree a scene should be played, including the amount of emotion the writers or director envisions. In the case of this kind of TV show, the whole gang has influence. As the writers observe the rehearsals, they may rewrite a scene to make it play out more like they had first wanted, or they may revise it to make it more like the way the actors are thinking of it, and, of course, we know that they may rewrite scenes or lines during the taping. But I do think that the writers assign motivation. It's the actor's job to figure out the character's motivation based on the dialog and directions, but they don't make it up apart from what the writers have written. I remember doing a little one-act play when I was in high school where my character had this line, "But it's not Friday!" I couldn't figure out why she would say it every time her husband suggested ordering swordfish at this restaurant. I never did figure it out until quite some time after the performance (I just faked it). I take it the couple was meant to be Catholic, so she didn't want to eat fish during the week, since she would have to eat fish on Friday. Now, nowhere in the play did it reference religion at all, as far as I recall--bad writing, IMO, if that fish line was so prominent. But I think the TBBT writers are better at their jobs. They know, just like a novel writer, what they intend the characters inner thoughts or feelings to be, because that's what prompts them to say whatever they say in dialog. But their intent may or may not be obvious to the actors during the first read-through, so it may get revised. Even so, the motives are there to begin with and it is applied through their collaborative processes.
rachelshamyfan Posted October 23, 2015 Posted October 23, 2015 (edited) Hi Rachel. I get your pain, but I have to disagree with the inconsistency here. Sheldon's comment in the premier was out of a combination of despair that he couldn't believe he was in this situation and being stabbed all over with the pains of a break (which to Sheldon was a break up) and anger (the need to retaliate and hurt Amy back). He didn't say he wouldn't think of dating others, but asked Leonard to stop him if he thought of it. In the same breath he also said he was done with women and with Amy, and even said the same with his mother later. Then (11) hours later he shows up at Amy's door trying to get her to make a decision, which of course he wants it to be that they are a couple again. Then in the next encounter he tries to bribe her with all the reasons he thinks they should be together, but then he taunts her with Penny's bra, tries to get her company back by using the FWF baby reference, shows off his anger with FWF while at the same time revealing his growing physical desire for her. He asks her to live with him because that is really what he wants, but then when she rejects him, he insults her by accusing her of poisoning him with feelings to suggest that loving her is now bad for him. He can't go back to what he was, and he can't move forward in the direction he wants to go because Amy is not giving him any signs that the possibility is still there. Sheldon is all over the place trying to be the emotionless robot he was before Amy and handling the human side that he is feeling now.Now here we are several encounters later, where he's gone from the hope of getting her back at the end of the FWF episode to realizing that it really is over. The game has changed, and he knows he has lost. So, what does he do? He's trying to reset the board, and since he's lost his partner in play, he's looking for another because he knows now that he doesn't want to play by himself.Leonard is not stopping him at this point, because like everyone else, he isn't taking Sheldon seriously. Leonard thinks Sheldon is playing the emotional manipulation game, as was indicated by his comment about Sheldon reverting back to 2003. They all think Sheldon is reacting to the loss of just a playmate and not getting his way, rather than the loss of someone I booked Wednesday off next week and I'm glad I did now, whatever the news we get, am pretty sure I wouldn't be able to concentrate at work afterwards And again with the darn quote system! I didn't even quote anyone this time! Edited October 23, 2015 by rachelshamyfan
Trinabeana78 Posted October 23, 2015 Posted October 23, 2015 Knowing Mayim's past with hinting at amazing Shamy episodes, they both probably die in fiery car crash. Lol this is so true. Didn't she think the episode where Sheldon left on the train was awesome and hilarious? I don't trust it. I'm going to go ahead and assume that it will be tons of Shamy that will lead to them concluding they won't be able to make it work or something sadly poignant like that. This way if it's steps toward reconciliation I can be pleasantly surprised instead of disappointed like I've been pretty much all season. MJistheBOMB Posted October 23, 2015 Posted October 23, 2015 But there is no relationship at all right now, not even a friendship one, which Lenny did maintain during their break-up(s).So Lenny's endgame was always in sight, Shamy's endgame has dissapeared beyond the horizon. Seriously??? I CAN'T with this mother-effing quoting thing. LOL!It broke up Chiany's post and then quoted Rachel when I didn't want to. Oy....hahaha. Anyway, Chainy, I was just making the point that Shamy are different than Lenny. I'm also saying that perhaps things would have gone smoother if Sheldon didn't act the way he did in the very beginning.I'm right there with you though about Amy seeming to be not interested in getting back with him at this point. Her comment that she made, "someone NOT like Sheldon..." actually stung me a little (a lot). I guess we're supposed to assume that she has her reasons for feeling this way and I don't want to judge her because she did put up with a lot of his shit (not that she was forced to either). I know that Amy still loves him. She made that 100% clear in that stairwell scene. As for the other thing...yes, it doesn't look like she is eager to act on that love for him just yet and that's fine too. She needs to explore herself and figure out what she needs to figure out. I respect that. It still hurts though when I hear comments like, "someone not like Sheldon..." it's like, "Oh, you mean the guy you fell in love with and so stuck by his side for 5 years and he actually changed a some things about himself along the way for you?? Yeah, that's a "nice" way of putting it." ...but he wasn't nice either in the beginning....see, I think as I type and I want to be mad at one for a second but it circles right back around to the fact that the other did exactly the same thing. LOL. #THEYBOTHGUILTY
nickelette424 Posted October 23, 2015 Posted October 23, 2015 Mayim gets a lot of crap about the S7 finale and I don't really think it is fair. I think a lot of people look at it through a the lens of a Shamy shipper, even though the episode really wasn't supposed to be about their relationship. Given how she has spoken about how much she likes when they dive into Sheldon's character and emotions, I can imagine it was an awesome episode for her. And I know there are very few of us here, but I liked the episode myself, but I didn't see it as a Shamy episode. (to be fair, I wasn't as far down the shipper rabbit hole as I am now). Anyway, given what she wrote about the stairwell scene, and her acknowledgement in the interview with Jim how much they love the two of them together and how it has been rough and also how she knows how upset Shamy shippers have been, I am gonna trust her on this one. I may get burned here, but right now, I've got her back.
brilliantfool Posted October 23, 2015 Posted October 23, 2015 AWWW Mayim's new fb post sounds so amazing, but i don't wanna get my hopes up cause the skeptic in me wonders if it is what we think why would they give it out like that??I know, i know, the show's general audience is huge and the ones that check Mayim's page obsessively like us is relatively small %, but still....... Regardless i'm soooo happy to have an episode with tons of Shamy !!!! <
RoRo Posted October 23, 2015 Posted October 23, 2015 To me a beautiful shamy episode would be if they actually look each other in the eye and talk to each other about their feelingsthats just me

Kathleen Posted October 23, 2015 Posted October 23, 2015 (edited) I've been skeptical of Mayim's judgment in the past on stuff like this but from what she wrote about the stairwell scene (which was a beautiful piece and I highly recommend giving it a read) and some of the interviews she's given, I think she has a good head on her shoulders about what a beautiful scene is pertaining to these characters. Plus I don't think she would be cruel enough to string us along because she genuinely cares about the fans and doesn't want to do that to us.My crazy imagination just thought about if they interviewed Jim and he seemed really happy then we would know something nice is coming but that's just me being insane lol. I really hope this episode features them having a nice, long talk. Yeah it would be nice if they made up, but I just need a conversation as to where it went wrong. Communication is what makes them super strong and I know that when they do sit down and hash out all their feelings, it will truly be beautiful.
