If the writers are good (just sayin).., this shamy break up should make for some good tv. Amy needs to be schooled in relationships and how they are not like romance novels or fan fiction and Sheldon need to be schooled on social convention and women101. just my opinion

Hope it's November at the latest, when they get back together, a full season of no shamy is a season wasted imo especially with only 2 confirmed seasons left

It won't last a full season. Amy was already having second thoughts right afterwards. Hopefully 3 or 4 episodes at most.

Yeah, because when the season 8 finale aired people assumed they'd break within the second episode of season 9 but 3 or 4 (or more) sounds a better at this point.  It gives them time to sort out their feelings or whatever is going behind there problems

Well, the bright side is that this is just the first episode of the season and they still have 23 episodes to fix this. I'm guessing by episode 200th or maybe on Valentine's Day.

I don't actually know what was I expecting, I mean, based on the previous season finales, I thought maybe Sheldon and Amy will get back together during the first episode, but I'm glad Amy remains on what she said. She needs this. And this will be really interesting. 

Just a question, did the Relationship Agreement was even mentioned?

I'm hoping just a few episodes but am prepared that if they do get back together they will still have issues, the problems will still be there

 

I wonder if Amy knew about the ring whether that would help

Whatever happens, I still trust the writers and I know that they know what they're doing; they have been building and developing this relationship so carefully and so great that they surely have a really good reason to break them apart this time. Sheldon doesn't change in a blink of an eye; he needs to go through something really hard for him to make him change, like when he left on the train on season 7 finale. This is going to be good and I know they will get back together. I just hope it doesn't take long, because, we're gonna suffer and also, I'm afraid the show is going to lose audience with this. 

Sure, the season 8 finale was mind blowing and everything, and they surely will have a pretty good audience for the premiere because of that awesome cliffhanger but with Shamy broken up, people will get tired and will stop watching, even more so if this break up thing lasts way too long. 

 

let's back up a minute...season eight finale GAINED viewers. (Sadly most of those views occurred online.) Now, here's how this will probably play out: Amy & Sheldon will reconcile in sweeps but they will not get back together. She will date someone else...even change her look. He will work towards his Nobel. They will win it together. Coitus will happen either after such an accomplishment or marriage. A discussion of intimacy and how beautiful Sheldon found Amy before she changed to fit convention will lead to rekindled courtship.

I do believe that Sheldon loves Amy and Amy loves Sheldon. I also believe that Amy is more anxious than he is of progressing if it means moving at his pace...Sheldon has to have a break up to realize how great he had it. Or else, he can't decide if he wants to risk losing or saving it altogether.

Hello everyone (and welcome to the new ones)!!

 

I was kind in a forum/show hiatus basically cause I had no time these last few months. I didn't intent to write while on vacation (and my Internet connection is kind of awful here) but I couldn't resist reading the taping spoilers and one thing led to another  

 

I always felt that a break up is a possibility but what I personally think sucks about it is that I don't think it was really necessary. And since we know they will be back together it's not even a big shock. I am way more nervous about what might happen to the Amy character than Shamy right now. Sheldon as well as Amy needs to grow up even more but a break up is definitely not the only way to do that. I mean they already were on a very good track especially Sheldon and I don't see why he should suffer and "man up" to grow up. IMO the cold feet scenario would work better or a situation where Amy is having a difficult time and he has to be there for her. That is a sweet and potentially funny way for Sheldon to create empathy and at the same time become the one who has to be strong and supportive. I would prefer to watch Sheldon having to deal with a distracted Amy where he is not the centre of attention in the relationship than him being sad and broken up while he was making steady progress.

 

On the other hand I don't really want to see Amy date other people and hope it won't get to this. Whatever might happen I don't doubt that the writers will be extra careful with the Sheldon character and hope the same will happen with Amy.  I wish they can at least handle with a funny and not boring way that break up that for me is not really necessary it feels more of a way to slow things down. Thanks for the people who provided the spoilers and cannot wait for the taping report.

I'm a great ShamyShipper, but after a little shock at first, I'm quite calm. It will be different to see the whole episode (and I'm sure their will be comedy in it) than to catch just the headlines. And, more important, it will not last another 3 months to see their next step! So, Shamy having a heavy fight, catalyzing a development for both in the next few weeks, is kind of a relief after that long quiet suffering of the hiatus.

Ya know, it makes me wonder how there relationship will be after their break up even though... yes they get back together.  Will there be a slight awkwardness between the two or will they be back together before there will have that awkwardness.

Ouf, this all rings so false to me. Amy flies off the handle because Sheldon breathed out one dumb thing during a makeout session? Okay, okay, fine, handwave, handwave. She needs reassurance. She needs to know Sheldon actually wants to be there with her. That is a communication issue that S8!Sheldon wold probably have learned. But noooooooooooooooooooooooo. What we get instead is the S6!Sheldon who gets sent to HR for making racist, sexist remarks.

Because what the writers actually wanted was to break up Amy and Sheldon, and they didn't mind tanking Amy's characterisation in the S8 finale to precipitate the break, and they don't mind regressing Sheldon to precipitate the break-UP.

Lovely.

And if you are so graceless when engineering the break-up, writers, I shudder to think what you will do when they're actually broken up. Maybe Amy has a string of hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii-larious dates! Maybe Sheldon has a string of hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii-larious dates! Maybe Amy becomes a stripper! Maybe Sheldon fucks Benedict Cumberbatch! The possibilities are endless!

I don't want to think about how long this break up will last. A part of me wants to post-pone reading taping reports until I hear that Sheldon and Amy are rightfully back together. But the other part is trying to think about the many possibilities the break up may hold. Together or not, it doesn't mean they'll stop loving each other or stop having sweet scenes together. Even though I have this strong, crazy feeling that coitus is coming this season, I'm not gonna hold my breath especially after the lies and way the story is going through Molaro's storytelling. #DoNotTrustMolaro

I do want to start a campaign for #Hickey4Sheldon, though. lool. I can imagine a scene where Sheldon and Amy get drunk after an emotional night of trying and failing to communicate and end up sharing a kiss. Amy starts getting a bit frisky by giving Sheldon his first hickey but they end up passing out before things get out of hand. lol Because we all need Shamy completely sober for coitus. This is probably the only way we'll get another Shamy kiss before they finally get back together. Even so, I sincerely hope they're only broke up for a few episodes.

Do you remember when Molaro said that Sheldon is so fond of Amy and they were not done speaking? Well, I would have preferred they were done, instead! Look, I know that for Sheldon speaking about possible babies is something huge and that Amy should have known him better, but that was insulting, really, and not just from the point of view of a fictional character!!! I'm Amy's same age (older, TBH) and I have no children for the moment. A comment about an expiration date hurts so bad, I felt personally offended...I hope that on screen it turns out different, but right now it sounds just sexist by all means!

I think the time a part will give Sheldon plenty of time to reflect and even though we all know Sheldon won't change, at least he will start taking Amy's feelings into consideration more.

I'm so upset over this report. Not even because of what's in the report, but because this ship means (meant?) everything to me and now it's just? I'm so numb? I feel nothing? They have turned Shamy into another Lenny (in b4 Lenny shippers coming into our thread like "Lenny went through this in Season 3 too!!!!!!", like we care about your fail ship lmao) and that's just not something I care about. Shamy used to be so unique and special, and now, what? Sheldon is insensitive, Amy asks for a break, Sheldon is heartbroken and lashes out, Amy breaks up with him for real. What's gonna happen next? Oh, I can just predict it. Bernie sets up Amy on a date with a charming hipster photographer, Sheldon asks another woman out (a sexy scientist, of course) just to make her jealous, and Amy retaliates by bringing her new guy to a get together with their friends. Then follow about ten thousand unoriginal sitcom tropes, all the while half the fandom is telling me "don't worry, Shamy will be endgame!!!!" Well I don't care about Shamy being endgame if the ride to get there is an ugly one. I'd take six seasons of perfect Shamy and the show ending with romantic Shenny over six seasons of crappy Shamy and perfect Shamy endgame.

To think I was so mad after the S7 finale and the S8 premiere was the best surprise ever, and that I was so trusting Molaro this time around and this is what he delivered... take me back to August 2014.

That's true, he did have time to think about it while he was away. I'm sure he thought about Amy a lot while he was away, especially since we saw how he didn't want her to know that he had failed. When he left, they did not leave on good terms. He said some pretty hurtful things about Amy's future desires. He didn't apologize after he returned, which he should have. Sheldon has a way of evolving without really changing himself. If not through an apology as a way of showing how he's matured, then through gestures which I think speak louder than words.

It seemed like he finally got the grasp of what a relationship means and what the next step for them was. For him to have said those cruel things to Amy in tonight's taping report, it's clear that marriage has been on his mind for a while and is clearly open to having children with Amy. Even though it was mean of him, he got impatient and said the first thing that popped into his head that thought would make her see his version of "reason" and bring her closer to him rather than drive her further away. And we're about to see a whole lot of impatient Sheldon.

The scathing comment about kissing/dating the girl Leonard cheated on Penny with of course is not to be taken seriously. He was hurt and is obviously not going to do something like that, especially when he loves Amy so much and since she's the only girl he allows to touch/kiss him. Sheldon is in anger mode but we all know what happens when Sheldon is angry. He doesn't do revenge on the girl he loves.  He's gonna sulk, try to text/call/skype Amy just to hear her voice, stalk her fb page, ask Penny and Bernadette constantly how Amy is/what she's up to and even make excuses on girls night to go over to Penny's just so that he can see Amy for a moment. This is more the Sheldon we know. 

He's insensitive, he's selfish and impatient. But he's also a man who for the first time in his life knows what love feels like. The thought of losing Amy brings out his flaws more prominently. But just because Sheldon is extremely flawed doesn't mean that he won't be able to prove his love to her. He will definitely be able to understand her feelings better if not perfectly.
