Food for thought:   Amy's birthday is also right before Christmas....so while I know that they are going to do a Star Wars theme this next episode that is being taped, I do hope that there is some reference to the time of year and her birthday ...maybe a proposal?  I am hoping PP is early in the episode helping Sheldon come to his important decision so that we get a nice awesome end of episode "engagement".  

It's assumed to be just before Christmas because the episode she tells the story of spending her birthday alone was the Christmas episode that season, but it was never confirmed that her birthday was then. No one's ever mentioned her birthday in any other Christmas episodes and her story could have been based at any time in the year.

The Cooper Extraction Episode 7.10 - where she wishes herself a happy birthday to herself because there is no Sheldon.  It aired December 12 and Mayim's birthday is December 12...we were excited because they aired her character celebrating her birthday on Mayim's birthday.

I don't think it's out of the blue.  I think that his decision to just be friends wasn't born out of any idea that they're not good together or that he doesn't really want to be with her again--he enjoyed the aquarium outing as much as she did.  I think that he was still feeling the sting of the rejection and was thinking he didn't want to go back to the relationship.

But I think that thinking is part of what gets in his way when it comes to Amy.  Too much thinking and trying to be like Spock and not letting himself go with the leading of his heart.  When he thinks that Amy has changed him, made him more emotional, more vulnerable, he has knee-jerk reactions.

In the Table episode, he wants to break up with her because he thinks she has changed him and he didn't want to change from what he thought was his perfect self.  Then when she breaks up with him, he blames her and the others for making him a more emotional person, someone who is more likely to be hurt by things like rejection, more likely to get his heart broken.

But when he gives in to his emotions and desires, he karate chops his best friend ("She's not for you!") and intrudes on her date in order to stake a claim on her.  He is still a little freaked out by his own actions and has to whip up the RelAg in order to cope with what he's just done, but he still did it.

And when he gives in to his anger or frustration and thinks he's kissing her sarcastically, he ends up just kissing her--and giving into his feelings/desires.

So, by the time they have their aquarium non-date, he's come back to thinking again--he's been on an emotional roller coaster, but has supposedly calmed back down and thinks he's better off with keeping his safe emotional distance.  He was "just friends" before with Amy, he thinks he can handle that, that it's safe.

But in the back of his emotional head--or perhaps in the front of his emotional heart--he knows that he doesn't want to stay just friends.  She suggests getting back together and perhaps that sets off the process without him even realizing it.  I don't know where he would have heard a Beach Boys song, but with his eidetic memory, the words seem to have slipped into his brain subliminally to the point where his brain is finally helping his heart to come to the realization that it's not mere friendship that he wants, but that he does indeed love her, he's in love with her, and he wants her back, so much so that he's willing to do something bold like going to her apartment to declare his feelings.

I would say that it's uncharacteristic of him to do something so spontaneous, but it's really not, if you think about it.  But I do think it's uncharacteristic of him to act so boldly on pure emotion.  Goodbye, Mr. Spock.  At least for now!

I don't know that we don't know Amy's POV.  I think it's very subtle and not S P E L L E D O U T for the audience, but I think that she didn't break up with Sheldon because she no longer liked him or loved him.  It was more of a spat that got out of control because of miscommunication and frustration.  Sheldon can be incredibly frustrating and she kind of hit the wall with him.  But she still defended him to the girls and she obviously missed him and their special brand of togetherness.

I think he was subliminally processing everything all along, so it wasn't really out of the blue. IMO.

i'm always wondering how much likes do we get for a day??

It's 100. I don't usually run out but today I've been kind of a like-tramp :D And we filled almost 20 pages in 24hours so I'm not wondering why :D

Although the Shamy haven't had sex against a wall/door/showerhead in this episode, so I'm assuming someone on the staff is missing at least a big toe.....

Why have I been on a plane all day. I wanted to share in the joy. Before there were full spoilers last night, I just watched Kazzie’s videos over and over. What’s happening to me? Anyway, so many potential little gems in this episode and it hasn’t even aired yet …

- Amy’s playful confidence in pulling Sheldon back in with “Come back here” I love it!. I’ve been waiting for this since her stiff as a board kissing and inability to touch his back on their way up the stairs after he came home from that Xmas episode – and countless other moments. Yes! And the door kick at the end – I love bad ass sexy Amy!

- Badass sexy Sheldon who doesn’t care about interrupting a date because he has to tell his little lady how he feels and is so into kissing Amy that he doesn’t even notice and/or care that Dave is talking.

- The heart infesting earworm as an adorable mix of Sheldonism and romance that warms Amy’s heart. See she gets him!

- Amy has a model train in her apartment. That’s so adorable. She doesn’t think all of Sheldon’s hobbies are lame.

- The juxtaposition of how awkward Amy is with Dave and how passionate she is with Sheldon.

- Stephen Merchant/Dave as the new ship captain

- Penny being like, duh dumb ass, of course Amy made your life better (at least that’s how I interpreted it)

- Making out in 3s. Sheldon does everything in 3s – knocking, declaring love on prom. Bodes well for Amy.

Sure. It all sounds a little soap opera-y, but maybe they kind of have to do this to show that Sheldon can shmoop out from time to time to counterbalance the stoicism he’s displayed for so long. I kinda feel like Sheldon’s emotional stoicism has always masked and controlled a kind of highly emotional guy, so I’m willing to swallow it … even if it does make my teeth hurt a little. Ah,  who am I kidding, it’s frickin adorable.

In some ways, the schmaltzy vibe renews my faith that the writers sincerely love this couple. They couldn’t quite wait to get them back together – kinda like us -  hence a bit of a romantic comedy-ish rush job (and I’m not sure I even care at this particular moment).

I too am hoping for more of Amy’s POV, as always but a little hopeful that they’ll sprinkle some in the coming episodes. They can’t be all pet turtles and Beach Boys songs. I’m hoping their unresolved issues become a continued focus and that we come to understand a bit more of Amy’s side of the equation.  Overall, I’m a pretty happy camper … except I just spent 15 minutes writing this post instead of preparing for my meeting tomorrow.

Also I think well maybe Sheldon can dream himself kissing Amy. It's not very likely that he dreams a conversation between Amy and Dave, himself bothered by a song or Dave shouting "Kiss her you brilliant fool". He'd have to have really really wild imagination to dream those things lol.

Look, I'm a skeptical person. When I read it, I also thought about this possibility. But I think that if it was a dream, they would clarify at the same episode, and not wait one week to clarify, so my guess is that this is real.

it's now 3:04 am.... i can't sleep because of this either! ( pathetic??? perhaps....but i don't care!)

The article about Professor Proton coming back says that he is there to help Sheldon make a 'very important' decision...

Why show all the build up of him having the ear worm and working out that it was actually Amy on his mind if it was a dream?

Everyone thinks that the decision is whether or not to ask Amy to marry him but I think it's gonna be a Sheldon-ish twist where it's actually about something dorky he's fretting about like when he was trying to work out if he should watch the Flash Tv show! *headdesk* but then realises that the wedding question is what was bothering him all along.

BUT I never would have expected the level of mushy 9x10 appears to contain so wtf do I know?!

ALso: everyone SHOULD watch the Flash TV show, it's awesome!

Yeah, this is when reading spoilers can be a big problem because when I hear of an episode like this, I can't stop thinking about it. 

During season 6, after the train kiss, I nearly flooded the coffee shop at work after leaving the water on because I was still thinking about it....and I went to that taping, which made it worse. Haha.

With a few big Shamy milestones to still get through, I don't know how I'm going to make it to the end. LOL
