Yes, she said that. But did you see the way she said that? It wasn't from the heart at all.

When she said "Dave likes me", she didn't act excited or proud. In fact I think she couldn't care less whether Dave likes her or not. She was just saying that because she's heartbroken and maybe a little angry with Sheldon. It was like "You don't want me? well there's this man who wants me."

And the way she said "maybe intimate is what I need"? It was so fake. She was obviously bluffing, pretending she's Ok even though she's heartbroken, trying to save the last piece of her pride.

My English is really poor and I can't express myself well. Sigh... But it was sooooooooooooooooooooo obvious she was definately not gonna get intimate with Dave that night.

 

lol yes im pretty transparent when it comes to dissecting what people say, too many years spent doing it for a living i guess! i get what youre saying and i tend to agree with your assessment. 

 

theres no doubt Amy is still confused and hurt by Sheldon's rejection of the reconciliation attempt by her, and shes trying to figure out what the future holds for her now ("Im not sure what Im waiting for")....but lets face it, a lot of people in her position consider a rebound roll in the hay and act on that as a means of coping with rejection, or a means of taking a bold first step in moving on..

 

is Amy capable of that? we'll never know now will we? right before the knock on her door she came within inches of initiating a possible make out session on the couch. i say anything was possible in that moment. 

 

like you said, thankfully Sheldon interrupted it all. i love the Shamy and this was a long anticipated episode! i only pose this question because i really like the Amy character and like to understand her as best i can!

I can´t wait to see them kissing on the couch. The way Sheldon suddenly gets nervous and wants to check the internet before getting intimate and the way Amy takes off his nervousness, kissing him is so cute and sexy at the same time!  You can literally see how he relaxes when she kisses him.

I don´t know but Sheldon is so sexy when he shows insecurity or panickiness!

I was not sure when I read the TR, but after watching the episode, after seeing how Amy said those lines, I'm sure now.

 Man, I've only had 3 hours sleep and so I'm far from sharp enough to make any sort of coherent analysis (and I lost my S9 virginity, yay!  ), but I wanted to say that I actually was very happy with the style of the kisses because when I first heard about them being so passionate I was a bit stumped, in the sense that last time we saw Shamy kiss, they still had that inexperience about them that it wouldn't make much sense for them to have a 6-7 month break and suddenly turn into pro kissers. So I'm glad to see that while they're very passionate and loving, they're passionate for Shamy and they're still exuding that level of "we are getting there" vibe.

I loved Mayim's post and couldn't agree more! I'm so excited about having them back officially that I can't contain myself.

Sorry that was someone else's quote lol, lots of talk tonight! As for sex with Dave, I'm not as sure as you are that Amy wouldn't have gone down that road. I like to think she wouldn't, but what she says before the date, and that attempt at a kiss (had they just left it at the one stolen kiss I would have a different opinion, but that close call second one had Amy participating) leaves a lot of wiggle room for me. Guess we'll have to agree to disagree!

 

but again, I couldn't be more thrilled in the reconciliation and how the episode ended!

So envious of all of you right now!!! I've just watched some scenes on youtube, but not the whole episode...and I'll be lucky if I can watch it tonight!! I can't resist!!! LOL!!! I've read your comments, though, so happy that we are all happy!

I don't think Amy was planning to have sex with Dave that night. I think she was pushing herself to move on, but I don't think "intimate" necessarily means sex. When she talked to Bernie about it she seemed bitter and lost about the fact that Sheldon turned her down, and I think it's an understandable reaction that being hurt by that she would kick back by trying to prove to herself that she can move on. It's actually why despite the more serious setting for this date, I actually mind it a lot less (or not at all), compared to the previous ones she's been on, because here she's settling for Dave (or at least trying to) because she can't have Sheldon, rather than browsing around for something better than Sheldon.

If she had gone through with more, I think she would have regretted it. While I agree with everything you and Cam have said about Amy's mindset, and have said this myself, I still maintain the "what if" scenario of Sheldon NOT interrupting that kiss leaves it wide open...and you're right, intimate may not necessarily mean sex, but it sure COULD as well. Until that knock on the door, Amy was hurt at being rejected, and for all she knew her chances of reconciling with Sheldon were slim to none. She had been "shot down", as she put it....people with that mindset are very capable of doing things they later regret, as you mentioned. Again, had she not suggested that maybe intimacy is what she needed, and had she not leaned in for that second kiss, we wouldn't even be debating the subject. But she did, and we are lol!

 

while I agree, Amy didn't plan to sleep with Dave (she was surprised to hear from Bernie that her apartment venue could lead to it), I'm not so sure she would not have ended in bed with Dave if things on that couch had continued. 

In the grand scheme of things, it's unimportant- Shamy is back and stronger than ever and I'm happier for it!

Good lord, you guys have been busy over night! haha But I'm glad the forum still works. Hooray!

Anyway...

OMG WHERE DO I EVEN BEGIN!!!????!?!

- Sheldon's descend into madness was hilarious! I laughed so hard as he was mercilessly dragging Lenny with him into crazytown with his attempts to figure out the song. The vlogs were brilliant and funny and so sweet. (I should make some for next week: "Dear future crazy April, this is your husband - he may not understand why you have that stupid grin on your face, but he loves you and will take care of you after the latest TBBT episode will inevitably have turned you into a fangirling mess.")

- I really loved how sweet Lenny were in this! Cuties!

- The first time I read the spoiler about Sheldon figuring out his feelings for Amy with the help of a song I just thought "What fanfic realness, omg!" but during my current rewatch I noticed that they have Sheldon sing or play an instrument fairly regularly. He might not care for listening to music in the car or whistling - but there is a connection with him and music. So honestly, it really makes sense.

- I still picture it like his inner Professor Proton browsing through is eidetic memory bank looking for the perfect song with just about the right balance of fitting lyrics and being annoying enough that it gets Sheldon's attention, and then PP is just hitting the rest of his mind over the head with that song until he finally gets it. lmao

- I loved his epiphany moments. And just the way he ran out of the door immediately.

- Amy giving Dave a second chance out of sheer desperation and loneliness was so sad - but also kinda sweet because Dave is a genuinely nice guy and even funny and charming. I can't help it, I just love the guy! I'm not even mad that he managed to steal another kiss from her.

- I also noticed how Amy was more "grown up" (for lack of a better description) around Dave and it did feel a bit forced. Like with everything else in this breakup situation it felt to me like she was going through the motions, doing what she had to do in a way.

- I loved her little talk with Bernie because it illustrates not only how inexperienced she is and how much she's just looking for a rebound, but also because she's so baffled by the notion that inviting a guy over is something extraordinary. I don't know if that's just me overanalysing, but to me it just speaks volumes about what she had with Sheldon. He was at her apartment all the time and she could trust him. There was never any suspicion that he might wanted to do something that she was not okay with. I mean, yes, it's Sheldon, but still. As a woman having that kind of secure feeling is just nice, okay?

- Sheldon awkwardly trying to put into words what he feels for Amy was so endearing and sweet. AWWWWWWW <3 I also love Amy being happy but confused about his words. lol

- OMG DAVE SLIDING INTO THE PICTURE FROM BEHIND THE DOOR KILLED ME EVERY TIME!!! ahahahaha

- THE ILU! THE SHEER HAPPINESS IN THEIR FACES!!!!! Amy then getting all giggly and excited. SO CUTE!! <3

- THE KISSES!! OMG after the "Kiss her, you brilliant fool!" I loved how Sheldon looked back and forth between Dave and Amy a little unsure like "uhm okay... well then, if you say so" that quickly turned into "oh what the hell, let's do this!". lol

- I've said this last month but I'll say it again: I love that Dave is there to witness the whole thing and cheer them on, precisely because he is the guy Sheldon saw kiss Amy. And it works so well to show how he won't be an issue for Sheldon. He looks mortified and shocked when Dave pops up from behind the door and he realises Amy is on another date with him. But then Dave of all people helps him through this (bless), and while the first kiss may be hesitant at first, during the second Sheldon just doesn't give a damn anymore. I LOVE THAT SO MUCH!!!

- Bonus: The Promo! Finally they made this stupid "Sheldon's force awakens!" joke!! I'm proud of you CBS!! I almost lost hope. lmao

Can we just talk about how huge Sheldon's smile is after Amy says she loves him too? 

And how adorable they are when they break apart from their first kiss? 

There's so much stuff to analyze that I don't even know where to begin. The other thing that I loved was the way Sheldon says "I REALLY want to be your boyfriend". Like he feels the need to convey that he really really really wants it and that she understands how badly he wants her back. The heartworm muck-up was hilarious and so spot on. Only Shamy can make disgusting parasites sound romantic.

I have read everyone's opinions and comments. I love the fact that we each find small things that maybe someone else didn't. I appreciate everyone's opinion.

I re-watched the episode, I too love Sheldon's descent into madness, his sweet comments about Leonard and Penny and the piano/tuba scene and how parental they are to him. (Do we know what Sheldon did to Leonards coffee?) The Bernadette/Amy scene, Amy is naive about having Dave to her home as being intimate. I think Amy mostly knows what she has read in romance novels and seen in the movies.  Love the kisses (and the full body contact) especially the first one, they kind of lunged at each other and it was more intimate than we have ever seen with them but very awkwardly Shamy. (if that makes sense)

Now I can't get the song out of my head.

Okay, let's go... Guys, this episode was PERFECTION!! I mean, every single second of it! I laughed out loud (Dave, Lenny and Bernie totally stole this episode in terms of comedy) and I cried when Sheldon called Amy his heartworm... AWWW, I still can't believe it! His epiphany and declaration of love... How things change  Those kisses... So Shamy-fashioned hot! Especially the 'get back here' kiss! What surprised me about that was the way in which he surrendered to it: he seemed far more longing and comfortable than she was! IDK if that was an acting choice or something else, but 

!!!!!

The writers really wanted to show us how love can change a person - I mean, it's Sheldon we're talking about!!! She's the dryer sheets of his heart  I'm so freaking happy to see my babies happy again!!!!! I was almost forgetting: #ilovedave #bringbackthedave #letsadopthim

And another thing I love about the whole quote: "Amy, if you want to be my girlfriend again, I really want to be your boyfriend." Going into overanalysing mode here: 1) The condition clause caught my attention. I love that he's asking here if she's still on board with this because there's the real chance he might have messed that up with him turning her down last time and her in the middle of another date. He's not making the same mistake Amy made with her "I think I'm ready to be your girlfriend again" proposal. 2) I also love that it's not a one sided "Will you be my girlfriend?" but something more mutual in that he expresses how much he wants to be her boyfriend. Or to put it this way: He doesn't just want her back, he wants to give himself to her in return. Probably reading too much into this but this sounds like he's already going into this with a mindset of a more equal partnership and not something that is slightly skewed in his favour.
